Oddly, I don't see a Subaru conference scheduled. I assume the BRZ will be on hand though.

I'll find out in less than a month. :)

Ikaros 12-16-2011 10:58 AM

Oh cool it has the mainfloor. Anyone with experience with the NAIAS? What can we expect from the show?

tranzformer 12-16-2011 11:00 AM

Cool. Is the FRS the only car that Scion will reveal or does Scion have other vehicles to reveal?

Btw how will this differ from the LA reveal?

Scion has a small space, so I'm certain this will be their only car.

It will be the same as what was released in LA, thought it will be touted as the official North American release I imagine. We should get all the details we've been waiting for, like options and vehicle pricing.

For press days or public? I can give details and suggestions on both.

JDLM 12-16-2011 11:11 AM

They will probably roll out another iQ also

"Mainfloor" means they're simply using their display space versus Toyota that's usually in the Riverview Ballroom for the press event. This is just a clarification, kind of like how they differentiate the locations of Ford and Lincoln. If a location isn't listed, it's their display space.

Sounds like you're in the press, no?

exactly. Almost all the events are considered "main floor".

freelance photographer, so I guess sorta?

Ryephile 12-16-2011 11:17 AM

Cool. :)

Longhorn248 12-16-2011 11:17 AM

Hopefully we'll get a schedule for the BRZ as well! I'm going to be pretty disappointed if we don't get trim levels and prices for both cars.

tranzformer 12-16-2011 11:20 AM

So expect Jack being there with another speech?

That schedule is pretty firmly set, so I don't expect to see a Subaru conference. They will be there though, and may have a small press release with pricing. Just like Tokyo, this is a one-manufacturer show. They don't want to upstage each other I guess.

Ryephile 12-16-2011 11:34 AM

Yes, Subaru will likely have a Press Kit and representatives available on the floor, but just no press speech. This happens.

I've seen it before, and I'm not surprised by this move.

psykosis 12-16-2011 11:39 AM

So are any of you going to make it for press days, or are you all going to public days?

Sport-Tech 12-16-2011 12:07 PM

I thought I read elsewhere (in some review or preview piece) that Scion would not be announcing pricing until after the Detroit show...

They shouldn't do that. A lot of people are holding their pre-order $$$, due to the fact that they dont know the final price. If they reveal it after, I think some people will lose interest in the car.

What they announce is not confirmed, just speculation. We know it will be the FR-S, but no one knows EXACTLY what they will be saying about it. However, in my experience, they usually give pricing on new production releases, or at least a good "range". Scion knows we are all waiting on this pricing, and this is the best venue to release it to the media all at once.

I'll be flying up on the 19th, going the 19th and maybe 20th, so I'll be there near the end of the public show :(

If they hand out anything cool grab some extras :)

Public days, especially the weekend, will be packed. Go to http://www.naias.com/ before you go and look at the floor plan. It's best to plan out what you want to see ahead of time. If possible go either very early or very late. It's less packed 1-2 hours after opening and before closing.

Scion usually has something for the public (like a music cd). I have not seen much for the media in the past couple years, but they have not had a conference in the past couple years either. They will have some sort of press kit for this though, which I'll be holding on to. It's a great piece if I 1) buy this car, and 2) ever sell it.

Thursday during working hours will be best. Enjoy!

Fortunate Few 12-16-2011 02:31 PM

at the last reveal in LA, Jack said that they were going to release more information about the the car (most likely price) in Detroit.

ryude 12-16-2011 02:42 PM

For a chance to win a trip to the event, [Removed]. I know, it's a dodge dart, but at the bottom of the page is a link to their raffle. It's the same event, so you'll get to see the FR-S.

Edit: Raffle is over...

Dave-ROR 12-16-2011 02:55 PM

damn I'd have to create a facebook page

Don't worry about it, I checked back and it's finished already. Sorry guys, just tried to help.

no_name 12-16-2011 05:20 PM

I'm going to be there on the first Saturday. I'm expecting it to be packed but sitting in the FR-S and/or BRZ is my number 1 priority.

Being the first car show display of the production vehicle I'd be surprised if it's not roped off...

They may have it available since it's a full production release and the whole purpose of a car show is to drive people into the dealerships. They know that people are dying to feel the car out inside and out, and I suspect they will accommodate. I'd actually be quite disappointed if they rope it off to the public.

yayforaddison 12-16-2011 10:06 PM

I'll be there the first Saturday for the public show (the 14th), as well. I already asked off work and reserved my rental (I work for enterprise so I'll be treating myself)!

Cant wait :D

But it's a total "game changer", haven't you read the review by the omniscient and perfect Jack Baruth on TTAC? :)
