Is this the Armrest?

Saw this on Ebay. Claims to be the JDM armrest. But it seems a little plain to be an official Toyota accessory. Anyone know for sure?

Asphalt~86 02-13-2013 11:13 AM

No.

whaap 02-13-2013 11:15 AM

Toyota doesn't make an arm rest. Any you find will be after market.

jpit 02-13-2013 11:52 AM

Actually Toyota is about to release theirs.

Is there a thread on this armrest? This would be exactly what I'm looking for.

I tried searching and didn't find much.

FRiSson 02-13-2013 12:24 PM

Whew, that official one looks better. I suspect installation won't be cheap though.

sol740 02-13-2013 12:46 PM

Should have been in the car in the first place.

jpit 02-13-2013 01:12 PM

I tracked down the Toyota armrest to a store in Germany. Not available yet but they will be selling it for 169 Euros which at the current time is $228.00. The installation doesn't look too bad.

And no one here will want to buy it because they have to drill. Every great arm rest gets shot down for having to drill

I got the Carsmo one. Winning :party0030:

I'll buy it even though I don't want to drill.

Reasons:
1) This the only armrest that flips up and doesn't have to be totally removed to get to the contents (and it covers the entire console opening).

2) I'm not planning on removing it so drilling doesn't really matter.

JDMenrique 02-13-2013 04:25 PM

@Sportsguy83 sells custom armrest made in different sizes. I have no affliliation with the maker but I got a chance to see them in person this weekend and I was genuinely surprised. Materials and craftsmanship were suberb, probably the closest thing to OEM as its gonna get.

Doggy (on the board, also known as DCW) is making 2 arm rests that flip up. you should check them out. very attractive

FRiSson 02-13-2013 05:44 PM

It has to be drilled, Toyota is not going to sell something that will fly around in an accident (cupholder excepted). It really comes across as an afterthought though. They should have engineered the center console to accept the thing with minimal drilling required.

Thanks for the info. I missed that thread. I like it a lot. I really hope @doggy decides to make the option without the cup holder, since I don't want cup holders in my car.

Latest Update on OEM Armrest.

The OEM armrest designed by Toyota Europe was supposed to be released this month. However, according to two dealers in Europe (UK and Germany) the introduction has been postponed with no new date given.

Yes. Of the two he's selling I bought the longer/larger one. I was wanting a cover to the cavity more than I was wanting an armrest and this one works perfectly. It looks good. It's well made. I'm very happy with it. The one shown on this thread was developed by Toyoto/Scion of Canada.

The one I am testing for Scion Canada is the same as this one:

looks like that part number is starting to bring up more search results in google. hopefully just a matter of time... i'm more than willing to put a few holes in my center console for a quality piece... as long as it's not priced ridiculously of course

from what I have heard, it won't be :party0030:

jpit 02-21-2013 12:34 PM

The price in Europe appears to be about 160 Euros or $212.00 US.

abutterman 02-21-2013 01:07 PM

$200 or so wouldn't bee too bad considering the price of the existing 3rd party ones
