P.s. I know the A/C rings are black but the part wasn't ready when we took the pics but i will have the pics of the rings in carbon for you soon so you can see the whole interior. All the silver pieces changed into carbon fiber. :)

norsamerican 02-11-2013 06:14 PM

looks awesome. Did you utlize molds for these pieces or is it an overlay/epoxy?

jazztennor 02-11-2013 06:25 PM

no these are the oem parts. He lays the carbon fiber over them then lays the resin/repeat/sand/repeat and then many layers of clear coat to make them shine.

Turbowned 02-11-2013 06:29 PM

A little more carbon fiber than I'd want in my interior but the fit and finish looks perrrfect. I definitely want to do the dash piece when I get mine. Maybe the HVAC trim, too, the more I look at it. Nice touch with the black buttons!

DriftEightSix 02-11-2013 11:48 PM

If only there was replacement parts.

Would be soo keen for it.

Those are sexy!:confused0068: Who did this for you? Go opticoat those panels so they don't mar up easily.

Would look better if you had done this in my car instead. Obviously.

Surok 02-12-2013 01:47 AM

Maps316 02-12-2013 02:42 AM

OmarGC 02-12-2013 03:56 AM

Opticoat is snake oil...amazing how many people buy the hype. Waste of time and money.

CaptainSlow 02-12-2013 08:36 AM

Looks like you did a really good job. For me, it's a bit busy looking, but obviously styling is subjective.

I'm guessing your car doesn't have any paint protection then?

Can we do a compassion of your car vs someone with it...

Just go poor some water over the hood record it... I'll do the same... we shall see

Looks awesome!

Woo - welcome to the club :) Why didn't you cut the hole on the steering wheel piece? Also - is it just me - or on the shifter piece - where the area is around the buttons - the edges on it are still in original plastic and not clear coated? When I did mine - I used some black paint and did a bit of fade out to black - so all the non CF covered places look black and not factory plastic grey ;) But all in all - looks super!

Also - how's the fitment on the pieces around HVAC? I thought about doing them in CF on mine too - but after some measuring - I found out that its not enough clearance for the pieces to be covered in CF in full...

He did the fade as well with black paint. And as for figment on HAVC it fits fine.

norsamerican 02-12-2013 05:28 PM

wait who is "he" that you speak of? I found a vendor from overseas that advertised selling these items on another website.

djliquidsteele 02-12-2013 09:17 PM

Would be REAL interested in these if the were in UniDirectional carbon instead of weave. I'd even send you my parts.

No, I use an amazing sealant...far better than Opticoat. Even so, it won't prevent scratching like you're claiming here and neither will Opticoat. They each will help prevent against very small surface scratches but if something sharp or abrasive touches these panels there is nothing you can do. People get so hyped about that product thinking its "protecting against rock chips" and other dumb claims that just isn't possible by any type of sealant or wax.

As far as the water test goes, I'd take that challenge any day of the week. My car and its paint are meticulously maintained.

Kyubi 02-13-2013 10:00 AM

Man wish I could do this, Would probs screw it up tho!

This is the look I am going after. It is a top tube from a carbon MTB.

So...just UD carbon.

djliquidsteele 05-05-2013 10:56 AM

Yeah, they said they were unable to do it. Apparently you have to heat UD carbon for some reason. IDK

Hawk77FT 05-05-2013 11:01 AM

Define unidirectional. Like the bike frames?
Edit: I ve just seen the picture.
