BRZ/FRS over 5k miles

Any body has their BRZ/FRS over 5k miles and have no or little problem with their car??
bow::bow::bow:
BRZ 5500 miles- only recall atm. no engine failure or so. accidents during 2000 miles only bummer got mess up.

Chauntalei 02-11-2013 02:07 AM

I'm closing in on 11k and I've had no major issues. I've taken it in for the idle issue and GPS signal, but that's it. One small ding on the hood, no accidents. *knocks on wood*

jimbobrand 02-11-2013 10:43 AM

I just hit 16,000 a couple weeks ago and the only issues I'm having are the occasional burning oil smell issue caused by a plate on the backside of the passenger side cylinder head and I just noticed some moisture in one of the taillights. I had the chirping from the fuel pump but that has gone away in the last week or two.

How did they fixed the GPS signal problem?

dori. 02-11-2013 11:45 AM

Mine has... about 5700.

Have the chirp (which I couldn't are less about) and rear deck pop when its really cold out

and the shitty GPS that never gets signal, but I know there's a fix already.

Your dealer should have the stuff from SOA for it (though I literally had to go through SOA to tell my dealer to look for the fix). They reposition your GPS antenna (in the dash) and put in an updated SD card. Fixed my issue.

Sigh-on-Rice 02-11-2013 12:34 PM

8000 miles.
Idle chirp.
Tail light condensation on the passenger side.
Rear deck pop when the body flexes.

FrX 02-11-2013 12:40 PM

9000 Miles:
Chirping fuel pump
Occasional stumble at idle
Condensation in tail light

I am taking it in tomorrow to have all three looked at. The chirp and idle issue have been present since almost new, but the condensation is new, and the real reason why I am taking it in.

feedbag 02-11-2013 12:43 PM

15000 Miles:
  • Condensation in tail lights
  • GPS Antenna Issue / Nav Software needed to be updated
  • Chirping fuel pump
  • Rear deck pop

Im pretty much same as you, right around 5700.

I dont care about the chirp or the deck pop, and I have no interest in getting the GPS fixed since I dont use it very much and dont want the programming to mess with my VIM bypass.

Only difference is ive had a taillight replaced due to condensation, but that was no big deal.

This. There's a TSB out for it, check this thread and grab the "Navigation/GPS Antenna Changes" PDF, that has all the info your dealer needs to fix it.

DantKR 02-11-2013 02:34 PM

My driver's side window clicks and squeals when past about 50% down :/ Need to take it in the get looked at.

Norkoastal 02-11-2013 02:42 PM

A shade over 7k miles...
  • Condensation in both tail lights
  • GPS Antenna Issue / Nav Software needed to be updated
  • Chirping fuel pump
  • Rear deck pop (metal shelf and cover dynamatted w/positive results)
  • Tapping/flapping noise in passenger rear wheel well section at speeds of 50mph+

JonnyRocket 02-11-2013 03:44 PM

Just passed 5k this weekend. No real issues.

-Had tail lights replaced for condensation
-Have chirp, not really bothered/worried
-Shitty GPS is shitty
-Paint seems to chip very easily which bugs me.

brzninja 02-11-2013 08:47 PM

Just a paint chip on the side from a salt truck....damn salt trucks.

Own the FR-S. One of the earliest one's and just turned 6k today. have installed Injen Intake and Perrin Pulley with zero CEL's or problems.

636 02-11-2013 10:28 PM

I just broke 9,000 miles on Saturday and had one time where my car almost stalled during idle. Besides that, no problem.

jflogerzi 02-11-2013 10:29 PM

almost 11K on the clock. Got my FR-S on 5/31. No major issues like CELs, taillight issues etc...

I do have some interior rattling and I have the crickets(not a mechanical problem)

speedracer38 02-11-2013 11:50 PM

Very close to 17k miles on mine. I had the 2 TSB's done for the ECM and GPS which fixed those issues. I've had the chirping for a long time. Only "real" issue I have is a rattle in the dash I think somewhere in the center area of the ventilation system.

xwd 02-12-2013 09:09 AM

I just hit 5000 miles. No issues except I need to take it in for the GPS fix.

markitect 02-12-2013 09:28 AM

Over 10k miles, only mechanical problem was my A/C compressor chirp, lithium grease fixed it.

But my windshield got peppered and I have a couple tiny paint chips.

fender9530 02-12-2013 09:47 AM

Just over 8,000 and so far so good

Ltngbrz 02-12-2013 10:46 AM

Just over 10k. Had a run in with a tractor trailer tire retread-$2800 in front end and fender damage. Only factory defect type problem I've noticed is horrible GPS. Not bothering taking it in yet because the head unit is so horrible I don't bother using it.

dmudry 02-12-2013 12:23 PM

i just ordered my car in January, and it is being built right now. does anyone know if they have fixed all of the small issues at factory level? and will mine come with the relocated GPS, tail light condensation and oil burning fixed?

dori. 02-12-2013 06:23 PM

you can add trunk that wont pop without they key and condensation in both taillights to my list of things I just found out today

ThugNasty 02-12-2013 06:27 PM

I've had condensation in both tail lights ever since I bought mine. (about 50 miles)

did you bring it to the dealer or you fix with off market mechanics? I mess up my bearing. I am thinking to take it to the dealer and see if I can get a warranty out of it for free saying I hit a lot of big pot holes or w/e see if they can fix it for me. hopefully they don't find out that I had an accidents.

I assume you checked the trunk lock button on the left side inside the trunk right????

Sean-SRM 02-12-2013 10:47 PM

Have around 11k miles. The problems I have had are very similar to what has been posted.

The windows not working in the cold is by far the most frustrating!

you know, I totally forgot about that!

I've had something rolling around in the trunk so it probably hit it

chandz05 02-13-2013 09:56 AM

Almost 10k miles here, and no issues, chips or scratches even though I've been using her as a DD (knock on wood). I *might* have the chirping issue, but I can't be sure. I can't hear the sound at all from inside the cabin with the windows closed. Doesn't bother me, so I don't worry about it. Definitely have crappy GPS signal, but once again I hardly use the GPS, so eh.

Jayde 02-13-2013 10:11 AM

~7200 miles. Chirping fuel pump but rarely hear it since it's cold out. I'm sure once it warms up I'll start hearing it again. Also have the rear deck or airbag pop/tick/noise as well as a similar noise from the driver's window.

xxscaxx 02-13-2013 01:13 PM

over 8k, just the chirp. GPS signal too but I haven't gone back yet to get it fixed.

Mine was built in December, 2,500 miles later no real issues to speak of, nothing worth taking it into a dealer. By which I mean I don't think I could get them to do anything to the car no matter how hard I complained, no noticeable condensation, crickets are minor, smells and rattles are intermittent and could easily be attributed to "quirks" (No GPS, no cold weather so those don't apply to me).

Only posting because I doubt anyone who is posting here has a car built later than October...

Goya 02-13-2013 03:04 PM

Can someone explain this trunk issue? Is it that the trunk wont open, or that it opens when you dont want it to?

There's a button inside the trunk to the left. When it is pressed it activates a valet mode so that it can only be opened when a key with the proper RFID chip (not the valet key) is used in the keyhole of the trunk (under the lip to the right of the licence plate). It will not open if you press the button from the cabin or the button on the key. It gets pressed accidentally and then you have to insert your key in the trunk keyhole open it, then press the button to set it to normal mode.

It's all clearly explained in the manual which nobody seems to read.

Sure you guys didn't hit the button in the trunk that cuts access off to using the key?

fritzy 02-13-2013 04:05 PM

Nearly 7000 miles.
GPS, which I just found out there's a fix for from this thread (thanks!)

Backed into an illegally parked car in the dark (my fault, really), and chipped the bumper plus some scuffs and cracked the tail lens. I'm trying to figure out if I want to make an insurance claim to get that fixed at a $500 deductible.

I've noticed the center dash rattle -- few things bother me as much as that, but not lately (maybe an AC thing?).

NOHOME 02-13-2013 05:15 PM

So the answer based on what I read is that "No Problems" is the exception.
