Help, 17x9 +35 or +45 RPF1?
I am getting ready to order a set of 17x9 rpf1 for my BRZ but still can't decide on the offset. I am not a fan of "poke" so the +35 has me a little nervous. However, according to FT86Speedfactory's post, this offset leaves space for a BBK. Now for the +45, I'm concerned about spring/strut clearance. Also, a BBK probably won't work this setup seeing how tight the space is on the +35 wheels.
The BBK fitment isn't a deal breaker since I wouldn't have the money for that for a long while. Also, I'd be going with 245/40 tires with either offset. Help me decide! |

Here's the 17x9+45, I think both look great but as you said, the +35 offset leaves room for a BBK in the future and also gives you a little more strut clearance. Keep in mind that there aren't any 17x9+35's in stock usually as it is a special order wheel with a minimum of 10 sets. I only know of one vendor that has any coming in, and that will be a couple months or so before they get them. I believe the +45 is typically in stock as it is a standard offset in 5x100. |
Go 255

Thanks for the quick responses. I think I found on vendor that has the +35 in stock. If they don't, I will probably go with the +45. Hopefully I won't have any inner clearance issues.
|
If you have the factory struts on the front the +45 is going to be REALLY close, especially if you add neg camber using bolts. I got a set of the +35s from LSD Motorsports and have RCE springs/Whiteline camber bolts. Test fit the wheels and I have less than 1/2 in clearance (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=26) between the strut and the inside edge of the rim in the front. If you end up going with coilovers you'll have more room and the +45 probably would be fine as far as clearance with the strut is concerned.

I just found a set of +35 in stock. It's decision time.
|
^ where did you find this! lol i want a set too.
|
I needed a 5mm spacer for front clearance with 17x9 +42 rota grids w/ 245 Z1's on stock suspention.
|
go with 17x9 +35
|
+35 if you can get them. They cleared my fenders fine with only camber bolts
|
How much camber did you have to run?
|
I think the +35's poke out too much for my taste...have you looked at the Mach V rims yet..I think they are a +42 and they look like they clear everything and work with BBK

Gearhd79 - I have considered the Mach V and still have not ruled them out. |
Get +35, it does poke a little till you upgrade your suspension though.
|
yes +35 will poke out at stock height. a drop and/or adding at least -1deg camber will bring it back in. I am currently running a 17x9 +35 with a 245/40/17 and i have pics in a thread right below this one :)
|
I'd like to run these +35 but I'm worried about rubbing my fender in the front, I'm about 1.5" lower. Right now I am on 17x9 et42 with 245/40/17

This is with 235s on the +45s. Just fits. Yet to test drive. Just got 1 to test fit. What do we reckon. Will they be OK?
I reckon the +45s are the way to go with coilovers. Attachment 28284 |
Thanks for the picture. I am going to go with +35 offset. Due to my intended use of the car (mainly DD with some AutoX for fun) I probably won't go with coilvers. Instead I will be ordering RCE Yellows tomorrow and Koni Yellows in the near future.

Ok so here are pics of my 17x9 +35 Rpf1's with Toyo R1R's 245/35/17 Stock height for now. Will be on RCE yellow springs here in the next month. Camber is set at -2degrees currently.

Its a used set that I'm testing out for gearing reasons. I have a new set of 245/40/17 hankook rs3s in the laundry room waiting for spring.

I hope so. I'm not going to install them until I get the RCE springs and camber bolts installed, which haven't shipped yet.

Got the tires mounted today and put them on the car to see what it looks like at the stock ride height. Excuse the picture quality, they were taken with my phone.

I wish I could get et35 for the rear and 45 for the front.
|
+45 with a 5mm spacer out back looks perfect to me.
|
To me, the poke looks worse in pictures than it really is. I think after its lowered and a little negative camber is dialed in up front, it will look perfect.
|
Looks great man! Where did you get your PRF1's?
I am considering going with 17x8+35 Enkei RPF1, 245/40 tire. Is there a reason why you didn't consider the 8in wide wheel? |
Thanks. I got them from Dezod Motorsports, but I think Ft86eedfactory might still have a set left and they are on the forum. I went with 9" over 8" to get the flat face.

From what I've seen, the offset doesn't change the wheel design. The rpf1 doesn't get the flat spoke look until you go 9" width.
