I'm thinking so. We won't know until Detroit, but the buckets will most likely be standard judging from press pics... Alcantara will be a pleasant (and welcome) surprise. :happyanim:

Truer words have never been spoken :w00t:

TheRoadWarrior 12-13-2011 07:44 AM

Those are not what I would call 'Bucket' seats.. more like 'sports' seats if you want to label them.. I'm sure they'll be standard.

JDLM 12-13-2011 07:55 AM

not bad

CyberFormula 12-13-2011 08:07 AM

now that i think of it...

a member from before posted he wanted to create something for the FRS and sell it.

I think someone should develop an aftermarket HEADREST for the stock seats. A head rest that is not angled forward.

Scrub to 1:30...can't get it to link to it directly.

KidWonder 12-13-2011 08:35 AM

These are cloth seats. Autoblog.com did a short video on the interior of the Scion FR-S

tripjammer 12-13-2011 11:27 AM

yes those are the Scion FRS seats

I was concerned about this as well from the photos I'd seen, but one reviewer made it clear that the angle of forward tilt is adjustable and did not present an issue...can't remember which reviewer, sorry.

That is it, the stock seats are designed to be like bucket seat clones

They're "bucket" seats, as opposed to "bench" seats.

Bucket does not imply "race", "sport", or "touring", so while the type of bucket seat they are may be up for debate, they are indeed bucket seats

i dont agree - i would say bucket seats are the none-adjustable type like:
http://assets.speedhunters.com/Image...e/AY0F2835.jpg

because... well, you cant adjust a bucket

Ryephile 12-13-2011 03:39 PM

Come on, seriously? Is it an ignorant full-moon lately? The definition isn't open for opinion or interpretation.

Wikipedia has it right: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bucket_seat

Automobiles only have two kinds of seats; bench or bucket. That's it.

That would be a shell or racing shell. Not to be confused with a racing shell boat... :)

stop being an ass

"...distinct from bench seats which are flat platforms designed to seat multiple people."

bench seat:
http://www.ianj.f2s.com/VW/1959/front-seats.jpg

bucket seat:
http://assets.speedhunters.com/Image...e/AY0F2835.jpg

... plain old seat:
http://0.tqn.com/d/cars/1/0/D/7/1/ag...rfrontseat.jpg

as you can see - the third seat is not a bench, and not curved enough around to be a "bucket".

mines13 12-13-2011 03:55 PM

"A bucket seat is a seat contoured to hold one person, distinct from bench seats which are flat platforms designed to seat multiple people." It is really no more complicated then this... Regardless of your opinion. Here is an easy one for you...

Google: "factory bucket seats" then click on images. /thread

Yeah guys, there are three types:

Bench
Bucket
Racing

The pictures I posted on the first reply are the stock cloth seats for the FRS/BRZ. They are bucket seats

Maybe you should have read the entire wikipedia article instead of just stopping when you found a sentence that you felt agreed with your argument (hint: It doesn't).

There is no such thing as a "plain old seat". There are only bench seats, and bucket seats. If it's a seat for one, it's a bucket seat. If it's a seat for two or more, it's a bench seat.

Racing seats are bucket seats, no matter how many sanctioning bodies approve them for competition use. 1 person = bucket, period.

This.

You can't adjust a bench either, but bench seats come in 60/40 or 40/20/40 splits with rails so you can slide them. Bucket seat is an industry term. You don't get to redefine it.

Ignorant means one does not know, not that one is stupid; to claim one is ignorant is not necessarily an insult. It would be accurate to say that you were ignorant of the fact that any automotive seat that is not a bench would be considered a bucket seat. :iono:

Giccin 12-13-2011 07:08 PM

Oh... I had always thought bucket seats were the ones that were curved to fit the giants and racing seats were the somewhat flattish seats (meant for people of average height). Both being that they don't adjust.

Learning something everyday. Lol

CyberFormula 12-13-2011 08:15 PM

stock seats are seats with bolsters.

and the race seats are fixed back composites with boltsers.

Guff 12-13-2011 08:18 PM

I got your bucket seats right here....

http://failads.com/wp-content/upload...-car-chair.jpg

Slide 12-13-2011 08:54 PM

so your saying my car has a bench seat even though it looks like the "Plain Old Seat" pictured above(Page2)... it doesn't look like a bench seat... which normally means it can fit 3 people on it... My back seat is a bench seat cause it can fit 3 people...

No, the "plain old seat" is a bucket seat

Autoblog BRZ review mentioned it.

It is what it is. Sometimes language is too dynamic to categorize things that fall on a continuum, that's where you get into arguments over semantics and what something is or isn't is lost.

warrencj 12-13-2011 11:21 PM

The headrests should not be adjustible. The slight curve forward in the headrest is an anti-whiplash safety feature. No joke.http://www.lexus.com.kw/english/ct20...safety/wil.jpg

madfast 12-14-2011 12:19 AM

The headrest IS adjustable. it moves up and down

CyberFormula 12-14-2011 12:29 AM

I'm hoping for a flat with the back rest headrest, because wearing a helmet in that tilt forward head rest is no good.
