24 Months Free Maintenance?

I saw a commercial FROM SUBARU (not a dealer commercial) on TV and at the end it said "24 months free maintenance on all new 2013 Subarus".

Now when I bought my BRZ, the dealer never mentioned free maintenance. Is this retro-active to last year 2013MY purchases?

Calin 02-08-2013 02:49 AM

I noticed you're in socal...which dealer did you buy from? I bought my BRZ from Irvine Subaru about 3 weeks ago and they offered me 2 years or 20,000 mile free maintenance.

DeepHunta 02-08-2013 10:22 PM

Free!? what the hey hey! I had to pre-pay my maintenance. I paid for 3 years maintenance. I got jipped :( .....thanks Subaru.

Dave-ROR 02-08-2013 10:29 PM

Mine came with 2yrs/24k free maint but it was a SE region thing back then..

GavinAnt 02-08-2013 10:30 PM

Getting 5 years full maintenance standard in South Africa on BRZ: "standard items include the Performance Exhaust, Rear Spoiler and Maintenance Plan of 5years/105,000kms"

Jaylyons1 02-08-2013 10:35 PM

I was told 12 months for mine but I have the engine warranty for life and free oil changes for life too as well as free dent/scratch/chip repair for life.

johnb831 02-08-2013 10:48 PM

I have the 2yr/24k free maintenance also

WillBRZ 02-08-2013 10:58 PM

Must have been by dealer... Didn't get anything like that here in Chattanooga.

chenshuo 02-08-2013 11:45 PM

i got life time oil change and warranty, but i just have to pay for each service.

GerryL 02-09-2013 12:02 AM

Yep, bought mine in San Diego in September and it came with a 2yr/24k "Maintenance Synthetic" plan which includes intervals of 3k, 7.5k, 15k and 22.5k. Its all pretty much oil changes and tire rotations with an A/C filter and a number of added inspections at 15k. The certificate is a factory "Subaru Added Security Maintenance Agreement" that has been prefilled out for the car.

chandz05 02-09-2013 12:35 AM

I thought all new subarus come with a 3 year/36k mile factory warranty? That's what I got. Everything should be free until then...

Lots of Florida guys got it, definitely not dealer specific. Not sure where this region technically ends though.

They're talking about scheduled maintenance, not warranty.

We are talking about maintenance not repairs.

BRZnut 02-09-2013 05:41 PM

I did not get it in NJ....what gives???

DeeezNuuuts83 02-09-2013 08:35 PM

Is this new, or is it something that they had offered from the beginning?

DBacon1052 02-09-2013 08:45 PM

Look at the fine print on your sticker... It should say it on there. Toyota offers the same thing

LeeMaster 02-09-2013 08:49 PM

I got my first oil change done at subaru and I had to pay. What gives?....

Unfortunately you did. The extended service warrenty basically just adds a year which they charge like $900 for or something. I negotiated with them and got it added to the 2 free years. Now I have 5 years of maintenance :w00t:

Check your sticker, it should state on the bottom in fine print what you get with the car. I know that toyota/scion gives you 2 years free

From the beginning. I got my FRS in May and it came with it then

That's the thing... I know that the FR-S had it, because the 2-year/25,000-mile maintenance has been included on all Toyotas and Scions since 2010, but I had never read anything about the BRZ specifically having it. I don't own either car, but I never saw anything on Subaru's literature about free maintenance, though the FR-S stuff does mention the maintenance.

Nothing about it on my BRZ sticker. I think this freebie is only including on all FRSs, not the BRZ

Burrcold 02-09-2013 10:14 PM

Yeah what's this sticker you guys are talking about?

The poster who made that comment has an FR-S (which, like all Toyotas and Scions, comes with 2-year maintenance) and likely assumed that BRZs also included that.

Burrcold 02-09-2013 10:28 PM

I get that but what is the "sticker" people should be checking?

Apparently it's not on the BRZ's. Maybe its only toyota and scion that do it:iono: but yes the sticker for my frs clearly states that you get 2 years free maintenance at the bottom in fine print.

DeeezNuuuts83 02-10-2013 01:00 AM

Cool, but again, this is the BRZ general forum and was referring to whether or not Subaru was offering it.

ashtray 02-10-2013 01:29 AM

TV commercial from Subaru clearly stated that "all new 2013's come with 2 years free maintenance!", but I'm not sure if retro-active for previous purchases. I know some dealers offer certain perks. Mine never mentioned anything. They were quiet about other stuff too though - and I'd ask specifically, and they'd say "oh yes, you get that" - but it was like they didn't want to tell me stuff. I actually had to ask about the warranty - though the finance person had already included the extended warranty in the monthly payment quote. I told him to remove it. "But it's only an extra $x/ mo..." "Remove it!" It seems they sell EVERY customer on the extended warranty. When he (still hadn't removed it) asked why I wouldn't want it, I told him after 3 years I planned to heavily modify the car. He stopped, thought about it, and then removed the extended warranty. (He had to explain to his manager why I wasn't getting the extended warranty before he'd sign off - and that manager had nothing to reply with. Pretty funny.)

I wonder what they would say if I went in there to ask about free maintenance? Or should I contact SOA?

BRZnut 02-10-2013 10:14 AM

I checked subaru's web sitie and nothing about 2013 cars getting free maintance. If I could find that in writting, then I would ask the dealer for it and SOA if the dealer refused to honor it.

Anyone find it written somewhere??

GotM 02-10-2013 02:03 PM

I got the 2 years maintenance for free when I bought the car in November. It was part of the paperwork that was filled out at the time of the sale. It was a special they were running at the time.

So did your "sticker" say free 2 years maintenance free? Or was there a paper that you fill out? Care to scan it and show the terms and conditions etc to us? Thank you!!

BRZfan 02-10-2013 04:41 PM

He said " It was a special they were running at the time". I take it to mean he was referring to the dealer contract. Contracts are usually between the dealer and buyer.

With every contract there is always a written statement with what the contract is for. I was just asking for a copy of it to be sure and possibly open up negotiation talks with the dealer for those who havent bought their cars yet.

BRZerk 02-11-2013 03:52 PM

i negotiated this for free with the car. really only helps on tire rotations/oil changes.

Turbowned 02-11-2013 04:32 PM

It's probably a regional thing.

Did no one read that part?

I work at a Subaru dealer; I think I would at least know about it if there were such a thing. So I can tell you that at least Subaru of New England does not have this coverage. Cali guys, check with your local dealers as the OP is in California.

Noob4Life 02-11-2013 05:04 PM

Im from california and got the free 2year/75k maintenence plan.
