Favorite exhaust sound yet!!! BORLA
So I did a search and couldn't find anything related to this in video form so I had to share. By far the sexiest sound I've heard coming out of these so far. May have to pick up something similar to one of these setups eventually. Check out their YouTube channel it's wicked!

I wonder if they drone.
 |
each to their own

I can almost guaruntee they drone, id also be willing to bet 100$ they dont sound quite like that in person. I have a custom muffler delete and on camera it sounds "raspy" but in person it sounds great. Its such a deep and loud tone that, at least my iphone5, cant record it for crap other than idle
Heres idle [ame]http://youtu.be/NOx5y_BK4jU[/ame] |

I think this one sounds the same Attachment 27495

They're definitely loud. I saw past the raspy part because that's mostly just from the microphone. It's for sure not for everyone, I know I wouldn't put this on a daily driver but just loved the boxer growl they got out of them. Reminded me a little bit of a Subaru WRX with a Cobb exhaust that drives around my place.
|
It's my favorite too. When I get my FR-S, I'm going with this exhaust, with the catted front pipe and an over pipe. Here is the link to videos inside and outside the car. There really is no drone at all.

I kinda like it although I'm not sure I could live with it for a dd... |
The sound isn't for everyone and there are some things to consider when judging an exhaust system like this.
You guys have to understand that those videos above are a completely catless exhaust system. Yes, it is going to be loud and this car is going to be competing in TireRack's One Lap of America competition. It isn't a daily driven street car. That being said, it still does not sound "ricey" at all. If you can't tell this system apart from a 3 inch system on a 1.6L Honda motor, then your ears are daft :P The tone is much deeper and the rasp is not apparent when hearing it in person. Just some things to consider about this system and why it is so loud. Anyways, here is the link to our thread in the technical forum discussing the Borla UEL header and the other exhaust pieces on our car. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27092 Cheers! -Yo |

For some reason I do not like the UEL sound on this car. On the Impreza? Fine, it's mean and nasty and a bit of a brutish car so it fits. This car is precise and agile, I want it to sound like a Porsche or Lotus or something of that nature. High revving and smooth. :)
|
When it comes to exhausts, you really have to hear it in person. The videos don't do them justice. So far I haven't found an exhaust that doesn't sound "ricey". Drone is also something I'm particular on. My old Porsche 993 had an aftermarket exhaust on it and the drone was so bad you couldn't talk to the person in the passenger seat without yelling. You could hear that car coming from a mile away, for better or for worse

BTW here is what the V1 Catback sounds like with a stock header, stop front pipe, and stock over pipe.

Custom muffler delete made by a fellow forum member for his car, he then made a different one (cat back or header back i believe) so i asked if he was interested in selling :) |
Favorite exhaust sound yet!!!

In the first video. At 0:22 where it pulls away, the "buzzing" is part of what im referring to. |
Catless sounds awesome.
My exhaust has drone, don't care. :burnrubber: |

Edit: I was more going with you saying there is a drone and that it won't sound good at all. I have some car buddies that know Jeremy and says his work is fantastic, so I will take his word that this sounds good. |

Not at all. I dont know that i would buy it from that video. But i would definitely find a better recording or hear it myself before buying. But i would not remove it as an option based on a video due to the mic distortion. :)
|
I guess I could drive out to Des Moines to hear it in person.

ok I have borlas's full engine back ELH exhaust so no cats..at laguna seca it was 98db going by the meter in 3rd at 7K or 97 same speed in 4th. I was on a road trip with my wife (8+hours each way) to get there and back, she never complained about the exhaust...! My car has ALL the sound deadening removed too.
At the evasive dyno it was loud BUT SEXY everyone said so many couldn't believe how deap and throaty it sounded...NO RASP...lol. Oh looks like my car had the highest NA dyno #'s of the day by 3 hp too... |

friend had borla catback on a 2.5 sti swapped rs2.5 sounded magnificient. But i heard that exhaust in person.
|
At the last track day at ACS fontana I had 6 people search me out in the pits to tell me the little 4 cylinder was the BEST sounding car at the track! it was going by at 6500 in 6th gear... LOVE that BORLA sound!
|
Sounds amazing. Screw the haters here. They are obviously not fans of the boxer rumble.
|
I'm in for the borla catback, not sure about the header, but I know for sure if I did swap the header it would be for the Borla EL not the UEL. The EL sounds much better IMO.
|
That's pretty burly-sounding for a little 2.0L! A little too loud for my taste, though. I've already got two noisemakers in the garage.
