Strömung Axle-Back Exhaust
 

My Strömung axle-back exhaust came in last week. Installation was a cinch, and fitment was perfect. Nothing but good things to say about it so far. The tips are the perfect size and don't stick out too far. Very rich, deep tone without being too loud or droning.

Awesome sound! Was that just the axle back or do you have other exhaust components?

I bought it directly from Stromung. I believe it is all stainless, but I'd have to confirm.

Tried to find a Stromung for my WRX, but just couldn't track one down. Sounds great!

I'm heading to Stromung this friday to get mine installed. They're using my car for a photoshoot to officially debut the system. Can't wait! :thumbsup:

I have the HFC and overpipe. I will also most likely be getting their mid pipe. Decided on the catted one just in case I change to cat less headers in the future.

Good call. Yeah, I want to keep from painting myself into a corner later as well. I'd love to hear the Borla UEL header with HFC front pipe and Strömung axle-back.

Thanks, I was very satisfied with how it turned out. Had to buy it having never heard it before, but I'd heard their products on other cars before and figured they wouldn't stray too far from that.

I have the stromung cat back on my WRX and the sound is incredible. I might have to trade my nameless axleback for this... I wish I could hear it in person.

Thanks for the post, I had completely forgot Stromung was releasing an exhaust for our cars. I've had their cat-back when I had a WRX and I have a couple of friends who run them as well. By far the best exhaust I've heard on a WRX. Glad to see this is now available!

Love the Stromung products. Have it on my E30 M3 and on my LGT. Turnaround time is not the greatest unfortunately, as we learned from a GB that we had for the LGT quad tip mufflers. There was a lack of communication and missed delivery times. If there products were readily available by them, or by a vendor I would not hesistate to buy.

Well I got mine installed yesterday but right now there's a fitment issue as the tips don't align...there's about a half inch difference between the two. Some context:

Stromung wanted to do the installation, but turns out they bring it to some random shop to do it. They weren't familiar with the car but went ahead with the installation on not only the axle back but my Motiv front pipe and over pipe (they were seriously struggling with the over pipe section). I'm probably going to disassemble and reassemble the whole system again just to make sure they didn't botch anything.

Stromung contests that their fitment is perfect with oem components and that it's the Motiv products that's throwing off the alignment of the axle back. Again, knowing the guys at Motiv I don't believe this to be the case, especially since at this time they solely built over pipes and front pipes designed for oem components from the cat back. If both companies attest to perfect fitment at their respective locations, I don't see how the Stromung can be thrown off that far.

I'll update once I have the system reinstalled. Didn't feel the need to take pics or video use yet since I'm redoing it anyway, but yes the sound is amazing. Has a low tone that reminds me of higher end sports car exhaust systems. Been given the thumbs up by everyone whose seen and heard it.

During our GB for the Stromung quad tips for the LGT, both sedan and wagon, there were some fitment issues as well. The pipe sat too close to the CV boot. They did not want to take responsibility at the time. I am not sure what those people did to get things straight.

Yeah I'll see how things go. As of right now I still think it's a great system with amazing sound, but only if you plan on changing out the axle back only.

They said that the stock system flows well enough, and that is why they went with only the axleback. I would love to see numbers on how they came up with that conclusion.

Just ordered mine, should be here next week. Once I have it installed I'll use my mic and camera to get a good recording for you guys. Can't wait!

This is indeed a very nice exhaust, I ran one on my GC8 and it sounded amazing!

Looks like the perfect axle back for me but the price tag is just too steep for an axle back that, arguably, is the same quality as the Greddy SP Elite or Top Pro-1 Speed. If anyone is selling their Strömung Axle-Back Exhaust, PM me and we'll work something out since I'm in the market for an axle back similar in design to the Greddy SP Elite.

anybody paired any headers with this system? i've been looking into pairing the OFH headers with an exhaust.
