Who says the FR-S is not fuel efficent

20 Miles on the freeway with about 2-3 miles city driving from the Evasive Mostorsports meet. It dropped while I was at a long light from 40.8 to 40.6

Tree hungers, Prius owners and other hybrid owners ear your hearts out. :burnrubber:

I don't think i ever heard anyone say this car wasn't fuel efficient...?

Bristecom 02-03-2013 12:08 AM

That's pretty impressive if accurate.

sevi21 02-03-2013 12:24 AM

Well mine is no where near that bahaahah!
But my 2011 silverado got 30+ mpg on a 100 trip once!

jflogerzi 02-03-2013 12:29 AM

This was just after I filled up and did a reset. Over the life of the tank, it will continue to fall. But I had not seen my MT 6PD FR-S ever show above 40 MPG so I thought it was kind of cool and decided to share. But it was about 25 miles of total driving :)

dun3 02-03-2013 12:29 AM

Not so sure how accurate those things are. Once I had 75/mpg, then switched to 50, then lesser, then back up.

Was that the AVG one or the "real time one"?

beesmiff07 02-03-2013 12:48 AM

The price and the MPGs are what pulled me into this ride

campy 02-03-2013 12:52 AM

The frs gets double the mpg my old car got.

dun3 02-03-2013 12:57 AM

I think it averages 25-30+ mpg

LeeMaster 02-03-2013 01:13 AM

If you had the OEM spoiler, you wouldve gotten 40.8 mpg instead. :scared0012:

I averaged this on a 160 mike trip, mostly flatland, with a slight tailwind, sustaining a constant 70mph.

You must have been driving mega slow!

Tonight, I drafted an SUV at 6 carlengths back at 60mph for 10 miles, flat highway, and couldn't break the 38mpg indicated mark.

I'd assume if I ditched the break-in oil and drove 55mph, it would get up there.

ib 02-03-2013 11:14 AM

I'm averaging 26, but that's with a lot of city driving. I think I'm in the mid 30s for highways, and that's averaging 75mph.

Demandred7 02-03-2013 01:48 PM

It's easy to get good gas mileage as long as you can stay out of the pedal (it is just too much damned fun to wind the car up to redline).

KritiK 02-03-2013 02:04 PM

I did 600km with one and a half fueltank, I don't mind about how much fuel my car drink, but I think It's little high, but again as I said, I don't give a f***. haha

FRiSson 02-03-2013 05:28 PM

The car gets amazing highway mpg (35-40 with a MT), but as soon as you make a few stops it goes down to low 30's. Something about the transition area between mostly port to mostly direct fuel injection eats a lot of gas.

Khyron686 02-03-2013 05:29 PM

My life average is 25.2 mpg - best of 30.2. I'm happy with it. :burnrubber:

mangostick 02-03-2013 05:35 PM

I've been driving like I stole it and still getting over 26mpg.. mostly city and with snow tires fitted. Back to summers and I'm sure I'd be back up around 28-29 again without issue. More highway I'll be over 30mgp easy.

JDMenrique 02-03-2013 05:38 PM

i drove over 1500 miles this weekend on a roadtrip, boston to miami. full cruise control drving between 70-80mph and got 31mpg. i think it could do better considering its only a 2.0

35-36 HWY wouldve been awesome, just my opinion

The FR-S isn't. The BRZ is though, cause it's not a Scion.

mangostick 02-03-2013 05:39 PM

lol.. sarcasm?

Grishbok 02-03-2013 05:43 PM

coming from my rx-7's which were running at about 7mpg highway... this car is more than 100% increase!

On winter tires and winter gas I'm averaging between 27 and 28 MPG. It was 29-30 on summer tires and gas. I would expect the MT to do a bit better. C&D averaged 24 AT and 29 MT on summer tires.

mangostick 02-03-2013 10:07 PM

I think the primary reason the AT cars do better is the taller trans ratios. .. regardless a MT car should be capable of 30mgp easy.
