Buying your FRS/BRZ in Mid A area.

So we have our price estimation going on for the FRS and BRZ, refer to general sections of each to see the EST by different reviewers.

So they are both sitting at an Estimated price of 25K.

So what can we expect from our Area Dealers? What kind of markup do you think will be in between Virginia Dealers and Maryland Dealers. I don't even want to buy a car in DC. Will you all still purchase this car even at this price point?

for me...25K is really pushing it. Anyone got any connections with any dealers here within the MID A area that is willing to do a good deal for like say Group?

I Saw the Californians getting in on that was thinking about our side of the country.

I own a 2011 Mitsu Outlander Sport which I bought earlier this year and I bought it from Stholman Mitsubishi here in Tysons Corner. At this dealership they also have a Subaru and Volkswagen dealership (it's small though). I recommended my best friend to the same sales guy and he also was surprised how much he was able to haggle and walked away with a huge smile on his face. I am pretty sure if we wanted to we could approach a group buy and get a good deal. PLUS, I am sure no sales guy would ever want to turn down 3-5 sales in one day.

BUT since the sales guy I had worked for Mitsubishi I am not sure how much pull he can have with Subaru even though all those cars manufacturers are under the Stohlman automotive umbrella. I am pretty sure I can call him up and ask him what he can do for us!

So let me know who all is interested (besides us 3 usual suspects) and I can stop by or give him a call.

Hahaha that's funny a mitsubishi buy selling a subaru XD but awesome! I sure hope the BRZ isn't too expensive over our estimation. anyone getting limited? Or we all getting premium?

Any any one got connections with Scion just in case?

When I had a WRX years ago I bought it new from Annapolis Subaru. They were really great to deal with and are active on NASIOC. They gave me a tour of a whole facility and I got my car for cheaper that they were selling used at Carmax. When I do buy one (probably going to wait until the 2nd model year) and if I go with the BRZ I will be giving them my business for sure.

This also seems good. I think once we are decided how many people are in we can shop around to get the best deal...maybe regardless of what we get (Premium vs. Limited). I am leaning more towards the Premium edition but I wouldn't mind planting myself on some Leather/Alcantara seats.

Zaku 12-12-2011 11:59 AM

I might have to settle or make the better financial.decision to get a FRS unless somehow BRZ cost aren't that.high and I get a good loan interest or take on a second job. But I hope you guys don't mind if I can't join in on Subie deal and get a Scion.

Well I think we all were leaning towards the Subie for the extra features the FRS will not have but in reality I think as long as we all get the barebone specs of the car (power, handling, SOUL) we should be fine. Obviously, it's hard to make any decisions final right now since we dont know how much exactly these things will MSRP at.

As I've said previously, I want the subie for the interior aesthetics. Beyond that the car is the same. I'm not sure if the tires on the Subie will be better than the ones on the FRS (I think they are the Prius ones) and also if these tires are All-Season/Weather. I prefer performance tires and I feel Subie will offer that. I've had both types of tires on my S2000 and I can definitely say the performance tires are WAYYY better and a lot more fun to drive with.

I believe we find out the exact numbers next month at the Detroit auto show.

I'll probably be driving the truck and trailer home to Perry to pick mine up. Annapolis is good choice too but I have years of business with Perry, both with friends/family buying cars and me buying parts for my company. So I'm hoping I can coax some 'special' pricing. I'll have them sell a spare engine as well.

After all, this one will be coming back to the shop, getting tossed on the lift and waving the warranty good bye. Yippy for R&D test mule :)

Zaku 01-12-2012 01:47 PM

Who signed up for FIRST 86? Just wondering since last time I checked the 4 or 5 of us that's here all went BRZ.

OrbitalEllipses 01-13-2012 03:16 PM

I signed up for the First 86 and "won", though Fitzgerald Subaru had no idea what I was talking about when I called to put my deposit down.

Zaku 01-13-2012 03:44 PM

Congrats! What color?and dealer?

OrbitalEllipses 01-13-2012 03:59 PM

Raven, (which from what I could tell was a metallic black) from Fitzgerald Scion of Gaithersburg. I accidentally said Fitzgerald Subaru in my last post, whoops.

Zaku 01-13-2012 04:15 PM

Awesome take picture and stuff when you get it :)

TylerLieberman 01-13-2012 04:31 PM

The scion won't be 25k...I GUARANTEE it. Why? Cause Subaru will price the BRZ to compete with base WRX. They will have an entry level AWD sports sedan and a RWD sports coupe offered at the same price-which is 25k.

Scion went the cheaper route to cut costs. No HIDs, plastic interior(as opposed to subarus, more high scale) as well as less options standard compared to the BRZ. Other differences as well. Also, look at the prices in Scion's lineup. All 4 vehicles are priced between 16 and 19k. Do you really think they'll have 4 cars within a $3,000 range and then one that's nearly $6,000 higher than their currently, most expensive, car? Scion is aimed towards a younger demographic and shows partially by having low cost vehicles. Not many people in their target audience will want the FRS if it's priced at 25k when they compare it to other available cars in the same price range. All said and done, I will place cash money down RIGHT NOW that FRS' MSRP will be less than 23k.

OrbitalEllipses 01-13-2012 04:39 PM

All press pictures I've seen of the FR-S have HIDs... whether or not it's an option remains to be seen.

The FR-S couldn't be priced the same as the BRZ. That would doom it beyond the badge engineering already going on.

Giccin 01-26-2012 08:26 PM

Zaku. I think we need to wait more before putting numbers out.

Numbers out = Bad sign if dealers are watching forums.

Aegis 02-06-2012 02:48 PM

I can second the service from both Annapolis and Tyson's Subarus. I've dealt with both dealerships for random service and replacement parts and they've both been excellent.

After I saw fitz had the 1st FRS I went down and put a deposit on one thru them! I figure they will have better channels for getting a car and also Fitz is one of the biggest dealers in the area with a bigger allocation.

Zaku 02-13-2012 03:11 PM

How do we know which Scion is the best for our area? I don't wanna go mistakenly to that one Scion that prices stuff so high ya know. Anyone got a clue?

kanundrum 02-13-2012 03:11 PM

You mean dealership?

Zaku 02-13-2012 03:13 PM

Yeah, I've only had my experience with 355 Scion and they were great people but that was back in 06 when I thought I was going to get a TC(got a Civic si intead) but just wanted to know other people's experience. Because I remember they sold TC really close to MSRP like... it was only about 300$ more than MSRP over there. SO I was wondering which Scion dealership in the area might be the same, I'm unsure of 355 now because I haven't seen or heard anything from them in years.

kanundrum 02-13-2012 03:14 PM

Fitz is the best imho for the area. I know a lot of folks who have gone thru them. I personally bought it from SC from trdsparks because they had the best deal on the parts.

Zaku 02-13-2012 03:18 PM

I know we have a MID A person who is on First 86 for them, I'll go check them out and see. Lol if we only could get a price things would be so much easier, April is so close yet so far :(

kanundrum 02-13-2012 03:19 PM

yeapo. here is the guys e-mail. I talked to the manager and they seem cool about it. If you want use my name (Sapan) since I am the only person on their list at the moment.

Brian Chanin chaninb@fitzmall.com

Zaku 02-13-2012 04:05 PM

Are you on for the FRS or the BRZ?

kanundrum 02-13-2012 04:06 PM

FRS from Fitz Scion. I havent looked into the BRZ at all since I am a previous scion owner. Love the brand.

Zaku 02-13-2012 04:10 PM

Alright thank you ! what color is yours?

kanundrum 02-13-2012 04:11 PM

White. Gotta keep up with that Panda :)

Zaku 02-13-2012 04:12 PM

hahahaha nice man, well it's good to hear that people are having good experience. I'm going to wait alittle while, since I might not be inthe country when the cars start coming in here in the USA. But When I come back well be another story.

OrbitalEllipses 02-13-2012 04:32 PM

Yep, Brian Chanin would be the man I dealt with for First 86.

Zaku 02-14-2012 03:52 PM

GC pricing came out today... and it's really pointing to the FRS being 25K since it's priced to compete...hmm.... this is so confusing.

kanundrum 02-14-2012 04:17 PM

OHHH yea i saw that and was thinking about that was well

Zaku 02-14-2012 04:31 PM

it starts and is well loaded at 24.5K =___= Scion and Subaru better get their Shi together lol

Alex 02-14-2012 06:07 PM

I've pre order the BRZ Limited at RK Subaru in Virginia Beach, VA. I'm #2 on the list there with a $300 deposit. If you are in the area, these guys knew exactly what the BRZ was and glad to put me down on the reservation.

We are trying to find a place to pre order the FR-S for my brother, but the Toyota dealerships in this area don't know much and won't take deposits...If anyone knows a Toyota dealer that knows what they are doing, then feel free to let me know.

Zaku 02-14-2012 06:19 PM

You might have to come up north to Richmond or near DC for the FRS, that's the best guess I can provide you.

There is RK Toyota...that's in Hampton...not as far as Richmond or D.C., so we might try there...I would assume that since I could pre order the BRZ at RK Subaru, that they would be in the same boat, but yeah...I'll keep looking around.

Zaku 02-14-2012 07:06 PM

Hope you are one of the first on that BRZ list, seems like we got some solid confirmation from our members working with dealers in California that Subaru will only be getting 2 BRZ to each dealers. Good luck to you.
