Anyone with an auto, have scratches on the

Foot rest next to the break? My aluminum is all messed up?
What to do ? It bothers me.

Are you crazy? Mine still has the delivery plastic on it. >_>

tbwoodlee 02-01-2013 06:43 PM

I have some scuffs on there, I figured it is inevitable unless you are driving around in socks.

mechaghost 02-01-2013 06:48 PM

Try polishing it? It will probably get messed up again after a few days though..

Liquidsnake 02-01-2013 07:49 PM

How can I remove it? The pedal not the scratches.

Clipped in with tabs on the pedal and glued to the carpet...

chenshuo 02-01-2013 10:32 PM

you have three options:
1. dont use the foot rest
2. use it, when it gets bad, change the plate.
3. since its an auto transmission, u can amputate ur left leg with no negative impact on driving ability.

Of these three options, number three seems to be the only solution that will net permanent results.

Just cover it with masking or vinyl tape. It's bound to get scratched up. Personally, I prefer to focus on more obvious stuff.

Hardrock4445 02-09-2013 05:34 PM

The shit people find to bitch about on these cars..... Wtf it's a foot rest, it's gonna get scratched.

Burrcold 02-09-2013 05:42 PM

My tires have gravel stuck in them!! WTF?!?

You could also clear plasti-dip it, but personally I just figure its one of those things that is inevitible. I'll either replace it with an OEM one or maybe a aftermarket one at if it gets to the point where it bothers me, 150K miles from now. That's the kind of wear I consider a badge of honor.

IloveBaldEagles 02-10-2013 06:21 PM

I have a manual and mine is scratched up. I do not look down there unless I am working, and when I am working I do not bother to wear and tear.

86WRX 02-11-2013 12:30 AM

I think you just want to start a thread to get people work up and get you hell. There are lots of things in life worth worrying about.

Liquidsnake 02-28-2013 06:45 PM

Im sorry I have a small form of OCD. It bothers me.

EZWood 03-01-2013 09:03 PM

You could always push the car off a cliff and get a manual. Dont be offended, I just don't understand why people buy a sports cars with autos then use them for competition.
(Harry Caray voice) Here's a guy, liquid snake... He buys an automatic rear wheel drive sports car, then complains when his footrest gets scratched... I just don't understand it.

I would go to a skate shop and have it layered with the sand paper stuff they put on top of skate boards. Hope that helps.

"What's your favorite planet? Mine's the sun!"

Definitely read the rest of your post outloud in my best Harry Carat impression. :D

On a serious note. Left foot braking is still a go with the auto so I wouldn't amputate.

HEY! If you were a hot dog and you were starving, would you eat yourself? I know I would. I'd smother myself in mustard and relish, I'd be delicious!:threadjacked:

FIXED!

What kind of shoes are people wearing that they're scratching things up so bad? I feel like I'd have to work pretty hard to get that kind of wear with either my Pumas or Pilotis or any of my shoes for that matter.

It's just soft metal; it's gonna happen unfortunately. Unless you take it off and cover it with clear vinyl or something, but even that's gonna get cruddy eventually.

djdnz 03-04-2013 04:35 PM

Meh it's in the footwell, it's meant for putting your foot up against - function > form in this case :)

whaap 03-04-2013 05:03 PM

Think of it as a wear out item like tires, wiper blades and such. It's probably noticeable now because the dead pedal is new. After more use it will probably develop a non-offensive patina.

TennisHsu 03-04-2013 06:09 PM

If you really need to protect the foot rest pedal, get some 3m clear film and apply it to the pedal.

m.wood0213 03-31-2013 12:17 PM

I have issues with that plate too. mine keeps coming loose.
