adams motorsports park time attack, Riverside, CA

Has anyone taken their FRS/BRZ here? I've never been to a track and was wondering if this is a good place to start out. Tuesdays is time attack 20$/hr. Its inexpensive and local. What do you guys think?

jkonquer 02-02-2013 04:47 PM

Yeah the track was originally made for go carts, so its very narrow and small. But its very technical track. Just think o it as autoxing without the cones. Lot of miatas and small vehicles do very well in this track

slidethis 02-04-2013 02:31 AM

Illl probably check it out tuesday then.

:thanks:

Seems like a good place to start at. I just hope the fact that its narrow doesn't end up being a problem, I'll try to be light-footed my first time there

Hopefully see you there. The next time attack is Feb 12th I believe

I used to drift this course with my 2JZ 240 and it was way to small for a high hp drift setup that's for damn sure. Tracks too small for me, especially if you were to autox it... You'd never have to leave 2nd gear except maybe on the back straight away, but not for more than a few seconds into 3rd gear... for $20 bucks though why not right?

MikesFRS 02-04-2013 11:17 PM

I've driven on this track as well its way too small. Perfect for go karts like it was meant for though.

It's ok if you live close and have no track experience, the price is right too. I did it in a nismo 370Z and a 350whp 135i and those were a little too big for that track, but a miata or 86 can be fun.

alex88 02-05-2013 03:32 PM

The price is definitely right. I go to school at UCR which is about 10 minutes from the track, so I'll give it a try. I'll report back next Tuesday. Thanks for everyone's input !!!

LinknLog 02-05-2013 04:35 PM

Been thinking about hitting this place up too. Let us know how it goes for you.

Yea I got a good chuckle when I found that on youtube!

Jared0934 02-06-2013 02:31 PM

I can't stop watching it, lol. K1 gokarts have more intense add/commercials than this lmao

qijian 02-06-2013 11:22 PM

i went to UCR and i saw the white frs before too! ive been to adams quite a few times thru my years there but never taken my car on the track. If any wants to have a mini ucr frs meet, lmk!

alex88 02-09-2013 12:29 PM

Hey guys, it's actually someone else's white FRS. Mine stays parked at home most of the time, as I bike to school.

About the mini-meet idea, how would you guys like to roll to Adam's together this Tuesday? Even if not to drive the track I think it would be cool to check it out! I'm out of class at 6:30pm. We could probably meet up around 7pm at Carl's Jr. or subway on the food for less plaza (big parking lot).

By the way, who woke up this morning to find frozen rain drops on their car? I'm waiting for mine to melt lol

MikesFRS 02-09-2013 04:56 PM

my room was completely frozen. I had to thaw the ice on my window before i opened my door.

alex88 02-20-2013 12:38 PM

So I tried the track out last night. It's fun, local and relatively inexpensive. It was second gear all the way with about 1 second of third in the straightway. I suppose one could downshift to first on some turns as-well. As a noob I managed to bounce of the red line a couple of times, and shift into first at too high of a speed (probably about 40 mph) =(. Other then that and a couple of spin outs when it started to rain, I did ok. One thing I noticed is a lot of under-steer. I may have been attacking the corners with too much speed. I'll be working on it next time. And no more getting into the redline. I felt like an idiot almost blowing up my new engine.

Jared0934 02-20-2013 01:13 PM

As long as you had fun and you're enjoying the car in the way it was built, that's all that really matters... I'd just rather save every oz of reliability the car has for the bigger tracks.. I mean if you're going to be redlining I'm just saying I'd rather redline at 100mph at willow rather than 20-40mph at adams >_< you should try their drift events on thursday though.. Driftings a bit better on the track simply because it is such a lose speed track.. Our 2nd gear is tall enough too to get through the second corner w/ transition nicely... I think the bottom line is for $20 bucks, Adams can definitely quell that itch for driving maniacal.

alex88 02-20-2013 03:02 PM

You make a good point. I think after a couple more practice runs at adam's I'll try to make it over to willow. Hopefully some time in March. Drift session sounds fun, although with yesterday's rain, it was a drift session all in itself lol.

I try to avoid competition nights, as they are usually more packed then regular nights. If I was to attend one, it would be the Subie vs Mitsubishi .... Adam said we would count as a Subaru since there are no Toyota nights.

I won't be able to make tonight due to class but I hope you guys can come out next tuesday :burnrubber:

curious what time you were running at adams?!

and first time out there last night, it was pretty fun, prefer the horse thief mile at willow but hey cant complain, 20 dollar session

RAWR BRZ 03-13-2013 10:55 PM

how long is one session?

one hour for 20 dollars, plus 5 dollars for entering and 5 dollars if you want a helmet, spent 30 but i mean not expensive compared to willow...then again you cant expect this track to be nearly the same as at willow either

kvnchu 03-19-2013 05:38 PM

Anybody down for timeattack tonight?

fatoni 03-20-2013 07:13 PM

i stopped by yesterday to see if it would be worth running while i was on my way to a brewery. it looked a little cooler than i thought and there were some cars that were way more serious than i expected. it looks like its worth the price for sure.

Avo1789 05-30-2013 01:54 PM

Hello fellow UCRers! I just picked my ultramarine 2 weeks ago, we should organize and all go to the track one day :)

BTW! I just parked next to a black frs today in lot 30... Trying to defend the no ding zone
