i for one haven't seen this video and found it pretty entertaining lol
|
Not saying it wasn't funny just saying it was already out there, didn't mean to be so blunt, had a rough day with my son. Sorry.
|
Hilarious and true.
|
Oooohhh this is a joke. When I first saw it a while back, I got half way through him complaining about the car before I just shut it off. Not my kinda humor I suppose :iono:
|
This is the forum member @Dezoris. I didn't find this video that funny or useful, but he's contributed quite a bit of good information to the forum (i.e.: DIY information for catch can, LED lighting, crash bolts, tranny/diff fluid change, alignment, etc...)
|
Wow.. Wtf is up with all of this negativity. It's an automotive forum guys. Does not reflect well at all. I respect that everyone has diff opinions, but if you don't like the humor in the vid just don't reply to it.
Btw, for those of you who are in denial about this car (FR-S/BRZ), it's a shit box that only does a few things right. Not saying that I don't like it for those few things, but it definitely needs more refinement. Yeah, I own one.. |
This video was never really meant to be all that serious. But damn did it piss people off.
I do have a follow up uploading in two weeks that will address new issues and most of the peoples insane comments. |

No, actually I didn't. Didn't have a whole lot of time behind the seat. I knew the car was going to be raw, but the "refinement" comment was targeted more at the obvious issues this car has had. I know first year cars tend to have issues, but I was expecting better.
Again, not saying I don't like the car (I would be selling it if so). I just feel that Toyota/Subaru could have done a better job at mitigating the issues. That's it. |

Think about the millions upon millions of people all over the world who are driving cars that are older than most of us on this forum, cars that are on the verge of breaking down, completely ghetto rigged just enough so that it gets them where they need to go and back. Think of all the people in east asia on their old ass beat up scooters scooting around. All these people who would be able to truly appreciate this creation, if only they could have one, that is apparently not good enough for you, as it is simply a "shit box". |
As an example, just think how many people are having problems with the manual transmission alone? Especially in cold weather. I can barely get it out of first gear when the temp drops below 35 F. I NEVER had this problem with the T56 6-speed transmission (f-body) in extremely cold weather in Chicago. Having to resort to diff fluids to "fix" it is just asinine. Which is what I'm doing..

It's certainly not a knock on him, because this was his only video that I didn't care for. But, like Dezoris said above, it was never meant to be a serious video. Dezoris puts together some very nice DIY videos, which I'm sure many (including me) are grateful for. |

Thanks for the insults. Sorry I posted something I found funny. I'm done with this forum.

I stopped watching when he said Hyundai Melosetor and saying he wanted a "fun daily driver."
What a fucking moron. |
Well,.......it didn't take much to make the cat loving, tree-huggin Oregoneon mad did it?
Like the Joker said: "Why So Serious?"..................:D |
If it is Dezoris, he is a forum member that I find to be pretty helpful and has contributed lots of good info to the community.
I don't agree with everything he is saying in vid, but there are some humorous true parts. And have a little empathy. If your car was down for what the dealer estimates could be a month or more without a definitive diagnosis/root cause (he made it sound like they gave him some very vague info) I would be pretty pissed off too. |

You don't like cats or trees? Cats are friends and trees help us breathe. Have a good day all. :) |
The reviewer in the video must be Bill Gates' illigetimate son or something. He has a new Prius, Veloster and an FR-S? I guess he can't do two things at once either as evidenced by him breaking the back end a little loose and not being able to talk at around 8:51. I think maybe he pooped his drawers at that point too.
Of course the very first line he spoke should have been another give-away. "The not real review of the FR-S". The only thing funny was him, maybe, looking like a douche. He ain't no Larry The Cable Guy.... |

I love reading these threads. I too have trouble getting out of second gear when my FRS is cold. The tranny shifts fine after about 2 minutes running down the road. Other than that this car is flawless..fit,finish, everything else is fine and I am one of the first people to get one in my area (bought June first). I have owned many other cars/trucks and consider this a very minor issue.
|
I LOVE YOU GUYS!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (:
Kumbaya my friends!! Can't wait to break this transmission and post pics of the internals! |
I had to laugh at the video because it captures the car so well! It really is a glorious handling piece of crap. And somehow, that is OK.
Lets put this into perspective, I have had to use a 1967 MGB as a back-up car to the FRS just so I can get to work. If that is not ironic and funny, then nothing is. It is also interesting how so may on this board react to any negaive comments about the car... as if I were saying that your girlfriend was ugly or something! The truth is that this car is a bit of a f--kup in a lot of critical areas. If your car has not yet suffered from any of the flaws, then I dont want to hear from you. The bitching and moaning that gets expressed by those owners who deal with the issus will ensure that either a better product comes out for future buyers, or tToyota nd Subaru decide to kill the product and never provide a fun car at a low price point. |
^^^ FINALLY someone with a realistic viewpoint!
Let me state again: I don't hate the fucking car. If I did, I'd be trading it in for a Camaro or a Cobra and just make more money on the side to pay for it. I bought this car because it is raw and cheap enough to mod. It has some flaws that I think are unacceptable. If I buy a car like this, I expect the drivetrain to be where all the money is in, not anything else. Btw, I average 17mpg.. So yeah, I beat the shit out of it. Oh yeah.. One more thing.. Whaaaa whaaaaaaa (: lol |

This car makes driving on twisty roads enjoyable. If you buy it for any other reason, it's not worth the money.
Enjoyed review, would by Dezoris a beer. |
I guess I don't understand the current definition of a "shitbox". My first four cars cost $1,500 TOTAL. Those I could define with that term, although I loved every one of them in their own way.
As for the video, Dezoris may have had valid points, I don't know. I have watched some of his DIY stuff, good stuff. But in this since he couldn't express himself without resulting to 4 letter words for "impact" I stopped watching. It's not that I'm a prude, it just immediately turns me off. Guess I'm showing my age. |

Then tell me about shitbox. You think this trans is notchy? HAHAA!! again take a wrx out in any temp and get back to us on that. Or a BW T5 trans (in fairness to compare rwd to rwd box). I've never come across one that wasn't notchy or didn't grind from 1st to 2nd when cold. For living in a place that doesn't have a harsh winter we have some SHITTY roads in VB.. and I dont hear one creak, rattle or clunk out of this car over the worst of road surfaces. My wrx.. sounded like a bag of bolts and soda cans over every little pebble in the road. This car for being as minimal as it is (as it was designed to be, it is just a $24K car) .. is put together pretty well. Granted, I just got mine in December so a lot of the production mishaps have been cleared up. I only have 2900 mi on it so far so I really haven't gotten much wear into it yet.. but at the same mileage/age my more expensive WRX sounded like it was falling apart. No car is perfect but to expect $50K car traits in a $24K car is just stupid. Quote:
You're getting $25k worth of car with a FRS. If you're questioning that you dont fully understand what this car is to the car world and what it represents. It has the same sort of soul that old lotus's and porsches have, that MGB's and triumph's had.. its raw, its light and its fun. If that cannot be grasped and all that's wanted is all that other foo foo plush bullshit then go by a fucking accord. Soulless drivers deserve soulless cars. |

I just honestly don't get it. |
