Looks sick good job

Laika 01-28-2013 09:20 PM

NICE! Siked to see someone finally do this.

Did you ever consider wiring it to the fuse box? I feel a bit uncomfortable wiring it straight to the battery.

Retro86 01-29-2013 11:40 AM

im doing this! nicely done!

It has a switch so it wouldn't drain the battery. Its wired to only draw power if your parking lights are on. I did a similar install on m friends 06 Si. Gonna do the same on my frs after my parts come in. hehe. Also, IIRC, these lights need a constant source of power. thats why its connected to the battery.

HunterGreene 01-29-2013 01:58 PM

About how much time did this take for you?

terrypm 01-29-2013 03:29 PM

Juanito08, sorry but I am confused. What is the purpose of wiring the green wire to the side maker light? Also with the wire you ran through the firewall into the interior what did you connect it to make the fog lights to be controlled by the light stalk? Did you install a new light stalk?

Do your fog lights turn on every time the parking/headlights are turned on? Did you not use a toggle switch to be able to turn the fog lights on and off independently?

Thanks

The green wire is like a remote wire. I tapped into the parking light so that it can come on with the parking light switch. I didn't put in a switch as of yet trying to see where I might mount it first. So as far as right now the switch wires are hard wired to one another

Just a thought I've been tossing around, you might have some luck getting a JDM power folding mirror switch and use that for the fogs.

Khánh 01-29-2013 07:32 PM

went to the dealer and got me a pair of fogs for $104.13 taxed.. now, time to wait for the bezels.. can't wait!!

I can't find anything good right now, there was a thread long ago that showed everything you'd need to turn a USDM FRS into a JDM 86 and that had a better picture if I recall correctly.

You can kind of make it out here. It's next to the mirror adjustment knob.

kmbkk 02-08-2013 06:44 AM

I haven't had any problems yet, and I signed up a week ago. I ordered the bezels a few days ago, and got confirmation of my order yesterday, so I paid. Good so far (fingers crossed).

Yes sir,I ran a ground to the battery(goes to relay) and only the left hand side fog has a ground.

Edit, if you made this yourself you wouldn't even need to go into the fire wall. Fyi but I'm sure you already knew that ;)

mezdup 02-24-2013 12:39 PM

@Juanito08 do you happen to have a wiring diagram?

KlafKoon 02-25-2013 11:34 PM

Thanks again for the DIY. Just installed the fog lights today but haven't had time to wire them up yet. I have a bit of a gap between the light housing and bezel and was wondering if anyone else's is like this. There's a gap on both sides. Took me a bit to get all the clips into place correctly but they're in securely
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/pictu...pictureid=3669

Other then the gap I'm happy with the look and will be happier when I finish wiring it all up.

Terrible phone pics ftw!

Same here, I'm curious if I just didn't push the bezel in far enough or this is just how it is. I'm using the Subaru outback lights that almost everyone else doing this mod for the FRS is using. Can someone else please chime in?

86 FRS 03-01-2013 09:51 PM

yes thats normal. i have the same gap. i guess the gap is for adjustment or alignment purpose idk.

Thanks for confirming the existence of that gap. It's not too big of a deal as someone can easily seal it off with a circle of weather strip or something similar.

They are probably upside down, I didn't pay too much attention to the orientation and just temporarily put them in to see how it'd look, but good eye :)

Lverasky 03-09-2013 03:16 PM

where can I order the
Fog Light
Harness
Bezel

THANKS.
