O.Z. Wheels

IHas anyone have experience with them? are they a good company? I saw one of there wheels on an Acura NSX and Im in love, I think they are called Ultraleggera. How expensive are they?

In the past on all of my cars I've only put Work Wheels on them, so I just wanted to know.

Thank you

I ran 16x7 Ultraleggera's on my MINI with Hoosier R6's and they were good wheels. Good stiffness, light, but a bit pricey. IMO, worth it. They're a legit wheel from a legit wheel company.

OZ makes a really good wheel, shouldn't have any complaints if you get a set

Mr.Jay 12-06-2011 12:04 PM

nice set of wheels

they got some really really light stuff too

solid rim company

I used to have a set of 18"x8" O.Z. Racing Superleggera's on my Celica GT-Four (ST205) and they were amazing. Light weight for the size, very strong, used to hit a fair few potholes in the roads round here (UK) and never managed to damage a wheel, did about 28,000 miles on them no problems.....

Though, yes, they are quite expensive.. looked awesome though!

Great company and wheels.

Price wise they are similar to others: (prices from tirerack, stuck with black (when possible) just to keep pricing equal as different finishes result in a different cost)
17x8 OZ Ultraleggera Black: $276 - 17.0lbs
17x8 Enkei Racing PF01 Black: $265 - 17.3lbs
17x8 Enkei Racing RPF1 Black: $252 - 15.6lbs
17x8 OZ Alleggerita HLT Black: $339 - 15.6lbs
17x8 Kosei K1 TS Grey (no black avail): $269 - 15.5lbs

Ran some on my Impreza a few years back.

Good quality wheels, if a little pricey.

I had people queuing up to buy them when I sold the scooby!

Dave-ROR 12-06-2011 01:56 PM

They really aren't that pricey compared to the other similar options. Sure they are expensive compared to a 23lb wheel, but that's apples to oranges..

DuMa 12-06-2011 02:04 PM

tirerack will have them.

I hope that price is for a full set.

Abflug 12-06-2011 03:59 PM

high quality, light, very good price-performance ratio, etc.

beside BBS, OZ is in my prime selection for wheels (because there is no possibilty to get JDM wheels official legalized in D)

IMO very good choice!

Zaku 12-07-2011 01:26 PM

What is the diff between the HLT version and a normal version of an o.z. wheel?

Dave-ROR 12-07-2011 01:57 PM

According to their site:

shrug.

There's a more helpful description on tire rack.

This process, which is directly derived from O.Z.'s experience in F1, produces wheels that are extremely light and strong.

The flow forming process and the HLT technologies combine to create mechanical characteristics similar to those of a forged wheel. This permits a dramatic reduction in wheel weight while enhancing structural rigidity vs. a standard cast wheel.

Apparently what they are doing is casting the hub and spokes with a thick ring of material where the rim should be, then cold rolling the wheel rim using a forming die. Basically, they are casting the center and forging the rim.

it is.

Matador 12-07-2011 06:59 PM

OP, how old are you and how long have you been into cars?

armythug 12-07-2011 07:12 PM

OZ makes great wheels. Very light. I have owned a set of Superleggeras.

Zaku 12-07-2011 07:49 PM

Matador, I'm 25 and I've been into cars since a young age. Both my Father and Uncle owned a AE86 LEVIN(Father) and TRUENO (Uncle) they taught me about cars. I've owned about 4 cars, the first being an FC3S. But I have to admit I still have alot to learn. Why do you ask?

Mr.Jay 12-07-2011 09:13 PM

^ most likely because oz is very very very well known like very very

Zaku 12-07-2011 09:38 PM

Well I've heard of em but never owned a set, just wanted real experience with them. I mean there are well known wheels out there but people have terrible experiences. I've heard people with Volks breaking, or Grams even BBS shattering in certain conditions. But that's pretty common about all wheels nothing is super strong and never have any problems. In case of O.Z. I wanted to see if anyone had problems, If you think about it Wheels are big investments. Again just wanted real user input thanks for all of those that did :)

Dave-ROR 12-07-2011 09:41 PM

With enough impact anything will bend or break :)

Caliban 12-07-2011 09:48 PM

O.Z wheels are legit.

Mr.Jay 12-07-2011 09:48 PM

yea nothing is indestructable but I do like OZ rims tho will more than likely get some rims from a different company

GranTurismo 02-27-2012 04:54 PM

I have the Ultraleggera's 17" on my Corolla, see picture (I'm from The Netherlands).
Those wheels are very good, light and strong, with a superb reputation (in Europe)!

Oh man I wanted Ultraleggaras back in the day. If I was buying new wheels, Gold Alleggerita HLTs would be at my doorstep.
