Black MT GT86, Dubai
5 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I have been reading about all of your cars and learning a lot! I'm excited to share some pics of my car with you all. I took delivery of her on the 7th of Jan, and in Dubai when you order the Manual transmission, you get a pretty basic package with no options. I'm not fussed about the 16 inch wheels or pea-shooter pipes because I'll swap those anyway, but I am a bit disappointed that I wasn't able to order the headlights with the LEDs in them (Any UAE based folks want to do a headlights + cash trade? ;-) ). I'm planning the following mods: - Tinted red tail-lights (complete) - Matt black painted or wrapped Toyota emblems (complete) - 3M 30% tint (complete) - KW V3 Coilovers (complete) - 18x8 +35 TSW Interlagos wheels (complete) - Greddy EVO3 Cat-back exhaust (complete) - Cosworth drop-in Filter (complete) - ECUTek tune (planning) - AVOTurbo Stage 1 or FBM Stage 1 (planning) Travers Here is a 181WHP Dyno run after exhaust, drop-in filter, and ECUTek tune. I love the way the tail lights came out. I'm not 100% happy with the wrapping of the Toyota emblems because when you look up close you can see small layers of wrap, but I'll run with them for a while and see how they go.
The guys at Profoil were really awesome about it though. They didn't charge for the Toyota emblems as they were experimenting and they offered to paint them if I wasn't happy. Highly recommend Profoil to anyone in the UAE who is thinking of wrapping their car, Khaled and the team were total pro's and good down to earth people. |
This is awesome! I have always wondered about modification shops around the world. I know japan uk and other euro places have them but last time I went to india I never ever saw a performance shop!. Thanks for the great information!

Car looks great but dam please do something with the exhaust lol
|
Congrats and Welcome! Your car looks great so far. Keep up the good work.

I know India is not Dubai. I was paying a compliment and saying thanks while making a comparison of another country. Came out wrong I suppose.

Took a trip down to One Thousand Dunes Motorsports today (OTD Motorsports) and thanks to Dave and Sam and the team I had a set of KW V3 Coilovers installed. The wheels and exhaust are coming soon...

Having a black car in Dubai is hell isn't it? :D Last time I was there - all I saw was White cars all around! :)
|
Isn't there a sort of class with black cars in Dubai?

Car looks great!
As a fellow from Dubai, I'm watching this build with interest. We really need to arrange a meet - so many people with the same passion for the 86 :D |

The next phase is complete.
Sam, Dave, and the team at One Thousand Dunes Motorsports have fitted a Cosworth drop-in filter, Greddy EVO3 Cat-back Exhaust, TSW Interlagos Wheels (18x8 +35), and Pirelli PZero Rosso 225/40 Tyres. The Greddy EVO3 sound is brutal in the cabin without the silencers fitted. I re-fitted the silencers after about 30 minutes of driving without them. The wheels and tyres feel really nice so far. She is booked for an ECUTek tune in a couple of weeks, and I'm currently evaluating my options for AVOTurbo Stage 1 kit or FBM Stage 1 kit. |
Lookin good!
|
The height and wheels look just right!
You would have thought they would put a couple of tips on the tail pipes to finish it off. That workshop is real dodgy with the mechanic working right under the car using trolley jacks instead of axle stands. They might do good work but they don't care about the safety of their employees. |
^welcome to Dubai :D
Car looks great! Wheels sit just right! |

I went with Perelli PZero Rosso 225/40/18's. I still lose traction if I push it on corners so I'm a bit nervous about traction when I turbo-charge it. Guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. |
Sharp looking set. How are the KW coilovers treating you? How is the ride quality?

181 whp - fantastic!
Travers, what are your thoughts on the car after the Tune? Is it worth the extra spend? Your HP gains are fantastic. Could i ask - your gains are very similar to a member on this forum called Ultra. I can't remember his setup but do you think Sam (garage looks like OTD) is using a "one map for all" or is actually tweaking to work with your mods? Btw I love the car and what you've done to it - looks stunning! |
Man that looks good. If you don't mind me asking what did all this run you cost wise? And can you send me the contact details for the garage?
Currently got the custom exhaust from Fox and a drop in from TRD. Really interested in a tune but didn't know where. RevoG |
Hi guys,
Quote:
I spent the day with Sam as he was tuning the car. I watched him each step of the way. My car had about 20-25 runs on the dyno before he was comfortable with the WHP and the air/fuel ratio. For reference, the first run was 165WHP (Remember I had already done my exhaust and drop-in filter). Definitely Sam is not doing a one tune for all, he cares about the outcome as he has a great reputation to protect. Quote:
The tuning garage is called One Thousand Dunes Motorsports. You can find them on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/OneThousandDunes. They are in Al Quoz, in the block behind the Nissan dealer on SZ Road. Hope that helps you guys :-) Travers |
i like the build but what kind of version of the 86 did u get ? ive never seen rims like that and the exhaust tips look like straws. Either way thank god u got rid of em looks great man.
|
Quote:
here in UAE all the 86 doesnt come with exhaust tips and manual only comes with the low spec (16" attached). but i must say the 16s does look better than the 17s and made by enkei. still i plan to upgrade to 17 or 18 |
Tastefully modded , clean avo kit you have
I passed by OTD and saw your car. The vinyl wrap on the taillights looks clean unlike the one I have on my car from profoil that keeps peeling off. |
Quote:
Y'know, I had to go back to Profoil a couple of times to fix the peeling. It's those sharp corners at the top of the tail light that I was having trouble with. |
So you're the guy with the Avo turboed car. How much power did you get from it and how's it holding up?
Was thinking of doing the Vortec SC with OTD but stuck waiting for my JDL UEL header to arrive. Also - clean choice of wheels man. :) |
