BRZ as your first New Car.

I usually buy my cars a couple years old. I will be 44 in a couple of months and this is the first brand new car I have ever purchased. Wonder who else is in the rookie class with me?

Skurj 01-20-2013 02:44 PM

Me!

I will be taking delivery of my first new car (BRZ Sport Tech) 2 days after my 46th bday.

Longhorn248 01-20-2013 02:45 PM

This is my first brand new car. I'm 26.

jmaryt 01-20-2013 02:46 PM

not me! i have bought "several" new cars over the years! it's one of the main reasons why my wife believes there is "something going on upstairs" with me! trust me,it's a losing proposition, and i am getting ready to "bite" again! just sayin"

dori. 01-20-2013 02:47 PM

this is the first new car that I've bought, yes.

I'm 26.

Spaceywilly 01-20-2013 03:26 PM

First new car for me at 25 (was 24 when I bought it). I would do it again, it is worth it for the sense of pride that comes with owning a car since it had 7 miles on it and peace of mind knowing everything is covered by the warranty.

rhoyle 01-20-2013 03:35 PM

The BRZ is my first used car as an adult. I'm 35. New cars every 24-36 months has been the norm.

Gixxersixxerman 01-20-2013 03:40 PM

This is my first new car I bought myself.. At 34... But not my first new car.. I've bought a couple others with an ex.. I usually liked buying used because of the money saved..

Achpoques 01-20-2013 03:44 PM

First new car as well. I was 22 when I bought it, 23 now.

Lost my new car cherry back in '91...

I think it kind of depends on the specific car. I would be fine buying a Camry/Corolla/SUV used with low miles. An EVO/STI/any performance car??? I would bite the bullet and buy new unless you can get a good warranty...

That is one big thing I miss about owning a new car, that you have peace of mind knowing everything is covered by the warranty. I bought my scion tc new when I was 17. Then I ended up selling it when it was paid off to use the money to move to Oregon for school and now I have a 1994 Toyota Tercel (DD)and a 2000 Ford Windstar (Mountain vehicle for snowboarding). My Van is out of commission and my Tercel is starting to sputter (like if you were to floor it and release the gas right away, until the car warms up). But I cant wait till the day I graduate in a year to own a new BRZ or FRS.

mit_peid 01-20-2013 03:55 PM

I'm 33 and this is my 2nd new car. Didn't think I'd ever buy another new car with new car depreciation, etc. blah blah blah, but the GT86 is so good, I changed my mind.

Pascal_TTH 01-20-2013 04:22 PM

I'am 42. Only my first car was a second hand one when I was 22. All other were new ones and only *coupés*.

Burrcold 01-20-2013 04:26 PM

I'm 34 and this is my 6th "new" car, of the 16 cars I've owned in my life.

Ive always bought under 30k mile used cars this is my first new car. The depreciation is going to suck but I love the car.

chenshuo 01-20-2013 05:27 PM

i've never bought an used car before, and my family haven't bought an used car before. With used cars, you just don't know how the previous owner took care of it. Some people also don't have good hygiene and the ass sweat soak into the seat is not pleasant.

FA5 01-20-2013 06:04 PM

I'm 37 and pick up my BRZ on Friday.
This is not my first new car but I am so excited just like my first car. I had lost that feeling long time ago and just recover it back.
It feels like the first puppy love.

industrial 01-20-2013 06:56 PM

Making me think about how many new cars I've bought made me sad. I must have burned through 100k in depreciation over the last 15 years. Oh well!

overlookedx 01-20-2013 07:37 PM

First new car and I'm 25. Bought my last two cars used and would've continued on that path were it not for the BRZ. First time I test drove it I knew it had to be my first new car purchase.

kchkwan 01-20-2013 07:44 PM

The BRZ is my first new car, first time buying a car myself too, I'm 23, forst time ever driving manual too. Its been an awesome experience so far, i hope this car continues to surprise me :)

Turbowned 01-21-2013 11:02 AM

Technically I have had a new car before, but it was a 6 month company lease. It was a 2012 Audi S4 6MT, and yes I felt sooo spoiled driving it :) I could never afford it otherwise, and I have never had a new car before. Until the twins came out, there really weren't any new cars that I wanted and could reasonably afford.

I've bought around 30 or so cars but this is my first new car. I have bought my wife a few new cars though.

first new car as well. only my second car though. had a 2000 LS Integra before.

Khazzy 01-21-2013 03:44 PM

This is my First new car purchase too. First car was a 91 Accord EX 2 door with over 180k miles on it. A year later I bought my 99 Integra with 67k miles in 07. Drove the Integra until last September and ordered my BRZ. First brand new car. I still find it crazy looking at the Odometer and only seeing 300 and change on it. Plus I know everything that is being done to this car being the original owner. I love it.

Umbie 01-21-2013 03:47 PM

My first two cars were hand-me-downs from siblings, which is awesome as a teenage driver. The first was a '95 Cherokee with a 3" lift. Lots of memories in that beast. Second was a '98 Legacy GT, which I still use as my winter vehicle. The Zed was the first brand new car I purchased, and I must say, the feeling of driving the car off the lot is quite exhilarating.

Mobius357 01-21-2013 04:18 PM

I bought my truck new in 07 when I was 23, and the BRZ in july just after turning 29, kinda of a birthday present to myself. So no, not my first new vehicle, but if you want to be technical, my first new "car"

cwik 01-22-2013 03:35 AM

The first BRZ sold in North America was my first car ever.

I had looked at the used market before putting money down, but given the type of cars I was looking at, I had a hard time believing previous owners babied it.

reni 01-22-2013 08:02 AM

I think buying new can actually make sense financially, as long as you keep the car a long time -- it'll be easier to keep longer as it has its full life ahead of it, and replacing cars costs $$$ in taxes, especially if you live in a state with high sales tax. Also less maintenance costs with the full warranty from the beginning.

Also nothing can replace that factory fresh feel... I've only ever owned one new car in my life so far, but even years after I bought it I still had a sense of pride of it being my "new" car.

Dipstik-sportech 01-22-2013 08:24 AM

Mine popped my new car cherry. Wasn't the most pain free process but the car was worth the wait.

Doug&Julie 01-22-2013 09:21 AM

...do they make them any other way? :party0030:

Edit: Ironically, all of our current cars have the same 2.0 H4 motor, albeit with wildly different HP ratings. :)

Rayme 01-22-2013 09:32 AM

Dooo it. I'm 30 and this is my first and last new car I'll buy. No regrets at all. :)

zc06_kisstherain 01-24-2013 02:39 PM

nkrein22 01-24-2013 05:01 PM

This is my first car purchase ever(used or new). 24 years old. 6 year loan. I live in Ohio so I still have my 1996 Toyota Camry (156k miles) that I was given at 15 1/2 as my winter car. Long live the Japanese car market :)

hyper4mance 01-24-2013 05:19 PM
