A tune!
|
I agree
A tune really changes the car. Then tires depenxing on if you want grip or not |
my suggestion is don't ask other people what to get. It's your car, why would you need to ask anyone else?
That is so stupid is so many ways. Do you research. |
i do not want to make a wrong decision maybe?
im not a modding expert, and do not want to spend alot of money on something i mite regret... i just want peoples opinion that is all, call it stupid if you want. |
I love when people shut you down for asking questions and then in the same breath say "do your research"
what the fuck do you think asking questions is |
wheels and kits lol
|
Whatever u do enjoy it! I was wondering tho do u get drone at 3k rpm with your exhaust?

is a tune really worth it????

I don't know a lot but from what I am learning it seems like a tune is one of the most important things you can do.
I mean, there is a lot of capability with the equipment you have. Tuning it is all about changing how that equipment is controlled. This is especially important if you start adding components that change the whole balance of how all the equipment works. |
Yes! You'll notice a huge difference in performane I'm getting the fa20 tune when I get my taxes back.:party0030:

It looks like a tune is approx $850.00 to $1000.00 initial cost with cable and license and if you have intake/exhaust already you might get 15 HP on 93 fuel. I am at the point where this would be the next power improvement. Will decide in spring if I want to do that or just put toward tires.
|
If I read correctly, you have an MT, a friend of mine did the DIY for clutch engagement and he said it makes his car more enjoyable. The price is right too. Personally I have only done low cost appearance mods (tint, shark fin antenna, exhaust tips, and LEDs for the dome light, license plate, trunk, and reverse lights). I am still discovering the car's natural performance and handling. I will then see where that leads me from there.

Besides the tune changes quite a bit car feels like it is smoother in power delievery |
What mods to get? Depends on what you want. I'll be the black sheep and say DON'T get a a tune because it'll void your warranty and it'd be better to build up the intake and exhaust sides of the car before the tune so you can get the most out of it when you decide to. I'd recommend doing any stereo mods/ interior upgrades you were thinking about because that is where you spend all of your time. Next, HID's in the projectors. Lowering springs. Tint your windows. Perrin intake tube (it'll help the TRD air filter work better). plasti dip your stock wheels for a custom look or buck up for custom wheels (try to find a set that are lighter than stock). Other than that, it's whatever fancies you. It's your car, don't do something because everyone else is doing it or is telling you to do it. Most of all, have fun :)

I suggest you change the transmission oil and the rear differential oil and get those metal shavings out of your car. Best initial mod to start off with.
Motul 300 non-lsd version, search up the forum vendors. |

Just want to point out that this is false unless you tell them you have a tune or at least with ecutek as it isn't detectable with dealer tools. Also getting any mods can void your warranty as its up to the dealership. You can fight it of coruse but still same deal. With just a tune you can get almost 20hp and beter response and maximize the mods you have already. I will agree that a tune isn't for everyone and really depends on your goals with the car. If you are interested I recommend reading some of the tune threads and getting the info directly from the vendors mouth instead of the misinformation that may occur here. |

Something you could get next is track time. I hear it's quite a blast. Not to mention, it'll give you a sense of before-and-after. |

I watched a youtube video not too long ago where someone put an aftermarket exhaust on their subaru forester. They didn't actually gain any power until they reflashed the ecu. Tunes are definitely a bit pricy but they're worth it if you want to really optimize your intake/exhaust mods.
Otherwise, I personally would go with slightly wider, grippier tires. I believe (but don't quote me on this) that you can fit up to 235/40/17 tires on the stock rims. Lowering springs are also a cheaper, less-harsh alternative to coilovers. My old coilover'd car was NOT comfy at all, even on the softest settings. I also blew 2 shocks while on the streets. Check the suspension section of this forum to get more info on springs/coils. But hey, customize the car to suit your use/tastes. Air bag suspension and 19" rims might be more your style. :iono: |

just got 225/45/17 RS3's from Discount Tire for $600 shipped. These cars need tires in a HUGE way. You won't believe the difference a decent set makes. UPGRADE if it's in the budget.
