I miss my summer tires

Using winter tires reminds of how good the car is with the regular Michelins. Its just not the same. The good thing is its only 8 more weeks till the changeover.

I don't have "winter" tires but I still wish the weather got warmer to enjoy my summers more...

Snow tires? What are these...snow tires of which you speak...are you insinuating that you drive this beautiful machine in the snow! How absolutely horrid! :lol:

;) Just kidding! Mine lives in the garage all winter so I didn't bother buying a set of winter tires.

I'm using the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 for winter tires in OEM sizes on my stock wheels. They are excellent, I'd say the difference is grip and steering response over the OEM tires is minimal at best. Maybe 5% worse? And slightly more tire noise on the highway. They have performed very well in the snow so far as well. :thumbup: Something to think about for next year if you don't want to lose the stock feel during the winter months.

I drove my car longer with my winter tires than my summer wheels...I'm bound to have a brand new "re-discovery" when it's wheel swap time! I enjoy my balloons for the shitty winter roads and the dreaded "shitty springs roads / wheel killers".

What is this "snow" you speak of? I've never heard of such a thing living in California. =D

Snow is an aid to drifting and an exciting, ever-changing, challenge to drive well in. I feel sorry that you cannot experience it. Perhaps a drive to Mt. Palomar should be on your agenda.

Those are great winter tires. They excel on cold dry, wet, and slushy where they feel almost as good as a competent all-season. They do give up some deep snow for that good feel though.

If you want to ruin your steering feel, a Studless Snow & Ice tire will do it with reckless abandon. Performance Winter is what most would want on this car for winter use.

As soon as we get temps >40 degrees regularly I'm switching back to my FR-S and planning some maintenance on my Jeep.

I should have my summer set up in April just in time to enjoy them. NT03+M and falken fk420's. the tires aren't the best but can't beat the price and reviews aren't bad.

I completely agree. Worse yet, I tend to baby my snow tires so I can get two or three winters out of them so I don't have as much fun with my car. That is except for winter track days like the Winter Car Control Clinic I will be instructing at next week. If there is fresh snow, then the tires will come out unscathed. If it is dry it will be a different story. (I still take it a little easier than on summer tires.)

Also, this year I am doing my best to buy a new tire and wheel for spring, so I have the pleasure of trying to save money.

Yes. this is one reason i wish i had snow. but its okay. we have rain all the time. lol

No offense, but drivers in Southern California get a little hinky in the rain.

california drivers in general are stupid as fuck.
