I have the pieces from Lamin-X just not installing until warm weather hits.

Flat Black VW 01-18-2013 09:35 PM

I like the look of them on this car, however having the BRZ I want to avoid making my HIDs yellow...

Well, I'd be interested to see how they look on your car. It looks pretty bad ass to me! Hmm... ::pondering::

ichitaka05 01-18-2013 10:00 PM

iirc Rally Sport Direct's BRZ had yellow headlights

ravenblackfrs 01-18-2013 10:06 PM

Wonder how they would look on an stock raven frs. Has anyone done yellow hids? About to go do a search now on the forums.

I have honestly tinkered with the idea of doing them earlier. I just want to wait until it warms a but so the install guys arent freezing.

You going to do yellow hid's or yellow tint the lenses? I like the look of the yellow lenses on an asphalt. Dont think it will look as good on a raven though. I am going to have to find the tint and do a dry run and see how it looks.

Looks like they're filled with pee

Yellow tint on the lenses, I have 8k HIDs in now so i am curious as to what those would look like. They were actually given to me buy Lamin-X so it's not like I am losing out any $$$ if I decide to remove them later

They are on their site directly, I think there's a vendor on here that sells them for the BRZ but the FR-S are pretty much direct buys only. The service through those guys is awesome but I would recommend paying someone to do the install and not risk it yourself.

Thank you for the link sir! :thanks: :respekt:

I wouldnt pay anyone to do it though, that $50 bucks to have someone mess it up and then not pay for it cause it wasnt purchased from them. I am going to do the 6k hid's... gotta find a vendor on the forums to buy them from. And I think I'm going to find some yellow tint, just to see what it would look like before buying the lamin-x skins. But damn I like those!

ravenblackfrs 01-19-2013 02:34 AM

Only two pictures I currently have of it at night with the lights on.

MSTiFK8R 01-22-2013 05:44 AM

will the heat from the lamp burn the glue in this film, so it would change color?

I blued out all my lights and they were fine until I switched the bulbs in the fogs to Osram Nightbreaker +90s and they burned the film and made it turn brown. I had to switch back to stock bulbs and replace the film. I have used the Osrams in all the other bulbs without a problem but I think the fogs surface may be a little closer to the bulb itself.

No, i have had that yellow light film on my last car. The heat put off from the light bulbs is not hot enough to really affect it.

Tt3Sheppard 01-22-2013 04:10 PM

Any issues with police with the yellow film? I currently have a plug in play HID kit but I might swap back to halogens and slap on that yellow film. Would look great with a whiteout frs.

I would think the local constabulary would be a bit narrow minded about the yellow film. France used to require yellow headlights, which I thought were great because it enhanced the contrast of the lights and made things a bit easier to see.

I've driven by cops no problem, I haven't put HIDs on or anything. So I'm not really blinding anyone, they're just yellow.

_hollywood 01-22-2013 11:50 PM

Cops dont really mind the yellow, imo they really help alot in the rain, i would consider it.

Tt3Sheppard 01-22-2013 11:55 PM

So it changes the beam to yellow. Even with HIDs?

ravenblackfrs 01-23-2013 06:38 AM

@Bluebatmobile ... are there overlays for the signals too? Or are those just yellow lights?

I like the overlays instead of yellow hid's because I want them yellow even with the lights off. Going to do DRL delete and 6k standard hid's with yellow overlays.

Tt3Sheppard 01-23-2013 09:18 AM

I would love to get an idea of how these would look on a Whiteout FR-S

cslntuee 01-23-2013 06:37 PM

I got suggestion from switchlanez mentioned that “I found any overlay will increase the potential for cracks to form in the lens. So I took them off. When temperature changes, the lens expands/contracts at a different rate than the overlay because they are different materials. Since they are mated together, one has to give way. The overlay usually has some flexibility and gives way. But when it's not flexible enough, the lens will form cracks.”
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24915&page=4 #78
How you guys think?
I am still try to make decision between overlay and spray paint .
Thanks.

ravenblackfrs 01-23-2013 08:13 PM

@LevinPhan... do you notice any cracks?

LevinPhan 01-23-2013 09:01 PM

I've had mine for 2 months now and my headlights are fine.

ravenblackfrs 01-23-2013 09:14 PM

Call me scum if you want.... but if mine start to crack... I'm taking the overlay off and letting the dealership replace them... ijs.
