Are you getting the FR-S or the BRZ and why?

I know in the reveal pics people were clearly stating the vehicle they're getting but I wantedan individual form for that. I'm going with the frs because it's cheaper therefore leaving extra money for upgrades. The interior is just fine to me.

KidWonder 12-05-2011 02:46 AM

I apologize for the really small BRZ pics.

sazu 12-05-2011 02:47 AM

No poll option for GT-86? I'm getting the GT-86 :)

Disagree with u. The price of 1 GT-86 in my country, I can probably get 2 or 3 BRZ in States for the same price. So... not so lucky after all :mad0259:

KidWonder 12-05-2011 02:56 AM

That sucks man. I didn't know the cost was that high for Singapore, but Singapore sure does have beautiful sights.

dalli 12-05-2011 03:05 AM

Hi,

I am getting the SCION FR-S because its almost stripped(hopefully) so it will be the cheapest.

Im not saying because I wouldnt be able to afford the BRZ but because I can upgrade the FRS to my liking. The VP of SCION said, it will have the most options compared to other SCION's.

I would buy whichever doesn't have a centre stack that looks like this:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1323067370

Mari0 12-05-2011 03:11 AM

Going with the FR-S for multiple reasons, some of them being: 1) cheaper 2) stripped down (upgrade what I want) 3) trading in a scion tC (better deal) 4) better looking (IMO) 5) <3 Toyota

^not in any specific order

NB86 12-05-2011 03:12 AM

I picked frs because of the heritage from Toyota and the fact that scion is a tuner brand, it will have more options than the brz.

Kostamojen 12-05-2011 03:18 AM

Can't decide until we see the pricing/options.

Thanks man.. pros & cons I guess.

Anyway, if I have to choose from the above choices, i'll get the FR-S.

Reason : I'm getting 2 deals for the price of 1. Toyota body with a Subaru boxer engine !

I call Subaru's boxer engine the Harley Davidson of cars :w00t:

There's really no difference in the dash center between the frs and BRZ. The BRZ just has different materials and digital hvac controls. I can use that extra money and buy a new intake, performance chip, new exhaust, or suspension upgrades. While all you got was nav and leather panels and seats and digital havoc controls. But each to their own

Nah, that's the way it is. We also pay 10% sale tax(rounded up number). :D

FR-S probably has the same features are optional.

KidWonder 12-05-2011 03:27 AM

But in all, we want this car for performance. Not glamorous interiors....well most of us, some people might actually want this car for the interior. And I'm not going to knock them for it.

switchlanez 12-05-2011 03:36 AM

BRZ because of its blue paint option.

Spaceywilly 12-05-2011 03:37 AM

Whichever one has the options I want for less money.

Honestly, I want both. I'm not that hardcore person who wants no A/C. I like balance of performance and comfort without going over ideal weight.

ajc209 12-05-2011 03:47 AM

Toyota GT 86 for me. I laid down a deposit at my local Toyota deal on friday! Here in the UK the options are basically Manual or Auto with or without leather...

Damn i'm so excited. Release date is sometime in June... I should be one of the first in the UK to get one.

Anyone manage to check if the center console knee area is padded on both cars or just the BRZ? I've gotten bruises during track days in my Miata, which didn't have any padding there - makes me like the idea of having padding there.

And stitching on the dash is kinda nice...

Well boy! You must be tall. Umm from the pics I've seen it just. Klooks to be a regular plastic knee area. But things are subject to change.

Yeah I have been watching this forum for quite a while, so I though I might join in.

Back to the question abotu the FR-S(GT 86) or BRZ. I chose the GT 86 becasue the toyotas in the UK are fully kitted out and I have always beed a Celica/Supra fan. Lets hope Toyota make this a success and start development some more sports cars like the supra.

If the BRZ had more power I would probably consider it, but the insurance could be interesing.....

Rumor is the Subaru is going to be around the £30k mark with is too much compared to the Toyota with similar performance.

DommerEOD 12-05-2011 04:03 AM

FR-S for me. I learned the hard way with my last new car purchase. I bought a loaded FJ Cruiser and put more money into it than i knew i had.

With the FR-S, I plan on doing a lot with it, so I'll start with the cheapest model and toy with it from there. So for me, no point in getting the Limited BRZ.

Now THAT is a useful feature! IIRC the door panel around the speaker area was padded in the 86 training manual. If it doesn't come standard on the FR-S, it would be an accessory I'd be willing to pay for along with Alcantara seats (better seat grip than leather and cloth).

Longhorn248 12-05-2011 11:40 AM

I'm going with BRZ. I like the headlights more than the FR-S and that there are more options to choose from. Oh and I'm in love with the WRC Blue.

Dave-ROR 12-05-2011 11:56 AM

I'll let you know after detroit, until then the details aren't clear enough to say.

Liftcontrol 12-05-2011 12:25 PM

Toyota/Scion= better service than Subaru; more dealerships; more factory options likely;

Kids Heart 12-05-2011 12:35 PM

Not fair that the GT86 buyers are messing up this poll. It say FR-S people! I will wait to see what options are available but most likely I will be purchasing the BR-Z because it's easier to change the headlights a bumper than to redo the whole interior.

I currently drive a 92 240sx fastback with an s13 front end and sr20det swap. Im now 30 and would rather have all the stuff I want in a car standard.

HyperTech 12-05-2011 12:37 PM

in canada we will only have BRZ or FR-S, so it will be FR-S for me. i love the front bumper of the FR-S more than the BRZ and the interior fit more my liking.

pastuch 12-05-2011 12:41 PM

FRS... Any Canadian that buys the BRZ is retarded.

Subaru Impreza WRX 5 door: USA: $25595 Canada: $33400 - 40% markup

Scion TC: USA: $19300 Canada: $20850 - 8% markup

ryude 12-05-2011 12:48 PM

FR-S because of the appearance, the price, and the kind of aftermarket it will have from TRD.

Don't 60% of Canadians live within 1hr of the US border? Why not buy the BRZ in the US? Many Canadians do that with other Subaru cars. Just check out NASIOC.

Praetendere 12-05-2011 02:17 PM

FR-S, since it seems likely to be less expensive and has the only thing I really wanted to be in the car. Simple A/C.

Mitch 12-05-2011 02:51 PM

I'll have to check out both when they're on dealers lots before I can truly tell, but I'm leaning towards the BRZ because of the styling.

Ladnerd 12-05-2011 03:04 PM

Anybody else think the FRS looks cleaner , particularly the front with no fogs?

The warranty doesn't transfer over. If you buy the Subaru in the US you have no warranty in Canada.
