Time to relax...

two tickets in the past 3 weeks...

lane violation and an 85 in a 60

time to chill out.

Just thought i would share with my fam on the forum.

Pretty disappointed in myself :[

:slap:

DarkSunrise 01-17-2013 02:05 PM

Don't beat yourself up over it man, tickets happen to everyone. You've got the right idea though, slow down a bit, maybe try to leave the house a little earlier. My girl would tell me to take my own advice lol.

marine321 01-17-2013 02:14 PM

City or county cops? Lol either way I've been pulled over 2 times in my frs, once by 4 cops for driving crazy in a residential area. And once in the drive thru of McDonalds lol

l0aded 01-17-2013 02:18 PM

You might actually benefit from a radar lol.. also in my experience (at least in socal) its pretty easy to find places that will fight tickets for you and are pretty effective, may want to look into those.

Asterisked Accolade 01-17-2013 02:18 PM

Hit the track and get it out of your system.

campy 01-17-2013 02:20 PM

Don't worry, I lost my license a few months after I got it back when I was in high school. Tickets are a part of life for car enthusiasts

I get that. I don't condone speeding or reckless driving as I understand it's irresponsible and dangerous to yourself and others. What I meant was that many (young) enthusiasts are excited to go out and push their limits. They just want to get it out of their systems. I know I did when I first got my license.

mush 01-17-2013 07:26 PM

i never got pulled over ever since i started driving 8 years ago... got a new flashy faster car, two weeks later got pulled over for speeding. 43 in a 30 zone... he let me go tho:burnrubber:

its fun to push the car, but its not worth it

shyong 01-17-2013 07:42 PM

Paying $218/mo on loaded insurance on the three cars I own. I don't want to relive the days when I was under 25 years old with multiple traffic violations. Don't know how you guys do it.

oldpueblo 01-17-2013 07:42 PM

Just pick an avg mpg rating to shoot for, then drive to keep yourself around that. Have fun every once in awhile passing, etc. Then it's more than just going slow which you'll resent, you'll be doing it on purpose and saving money! :)

i did too brother, we all did.

on topic: i haven been secretly prayed for an apocalypse just so I can do 160 mph in my FRS while the highway is on fire and zombies suck my smoke.

kthxbai 01-17-2013 09:32 PM

Tickets are typical when first getting your license or getting a new flashy car, it happens just learn from it as it will only benefit you in the long run. I would just ask that you take heed when you decide to take the risk of speeding or making sudden lane changes. You may be in control but you never know how people around you will react; you wouldn't want someone's accident on your conscience.

On a side note, @luxmn have you been able to take your whip on the "fastest highway in america" yet? Just saw that your profile says you're in austin, tx.....

I think I did. Not sure which highway it was but the speed limit was 130. So I did the responsible thing and went 135. ;)

County bro, city cops don't care much about speeding and little things...
well at least in my area.

Yeah i'm gonna be taking it easy for while... *sigh*

dem00n 01-18-2013 10:49 AM

Ha, look at the saints in this thread.

I don't get tickets, i obey the speed limit, which is why i bought a sports car to drift in parking lots.

Don't feel bad, just slow down a bit and watch the roads.

Don't believe that these guys only use the power of their cars on the track only, cause that's complete bullshit and i'd bet my right nut on it.

Road trip to austin anyone?:burnrubber:

Atticus808 01-18-2013 03:27 PM

i was once on the way to pay a photo radar ticket. on the way there i got a laser radar ticket..... if you drove this road you would understand it should be 60km/h and not 50km/h i was going 63 or something.

does that make you feel better?

shyong 01-18-2013 04:07 PM

Pulled over for going 130mph in the Evo on the local tollroad around Dallas. I was carrying 150mph on the speedo right before I got hit by the cop. Showed the LEO how peeved I was for getting pulled over. Gave me a lecture, wrote up the ticket...continued speeding to my destination.

Could've got the car impounded and arrested. Cop was too damn lazy. There's always time and a place. Choose wisely.

what was the reason that you were speeding?

ScionFrsFan 01-18-2013 04:42 PM

In this car, you can take it to redline and "usually" not be speeding...PERFECT :)

That's the opposite of how it is in my area....

And wait a minute, @marine321 got pulled over in the drive through of McDonald's ? Why?

Asterisked Accolade 01-18-2013 04:57 PM

I'll admit that i take a racing line down cloverleafs. Though, i'm typically not speeding or squealing tires or anything-- i'm just getting my bag-ass GMC Safari up to speed faster than i would if i took the onramp like a typical van. The thing is a big heavy beast, but it's surprising how well it can still take an out-in-out cloverleaf.

wrxgoose 01-18-2013 05:00 PM

i've been lucky. been pulled over once in 9 years. and i managed to talk my way out of it. (i was going home from seeing my son)

Open road with no traffic. No other reason.

 Good one! I was referring to State Highway 130 running from Austin to San Antonio; I read in an article that the posted speed limit is 85 mph.

What were you expecting? A high speed chase? A run to the emergency room? A need to take a massive shit? Racing a ricer?

You're awesome.

FRomar-S 01-18-2013 06:25 PM

If steering with your knees and hitting close to 100 mph on a highway swerving in and out of traffic with one hand taking a picture of your speedometer to post on facebook with some witty line about the police and pounding a red bull with the other hand is wrong...

I don't want to be right?

(Moral of story? well there really isn't one, but just be careful and be safe out there :) )

I'm gonna keep telling myself that so I sound convincing when the cop pulls me over... But the sign says max 130 min 85???

no, it's you saying things like showing the cop you were pissed, then continues speeding.
pure idiocy and disrespect

marky 01-18-2013 10:05 PM

time to drive like a granny and granny shift:burnrubber:

yeah just got my car about a week ago first rwd and i notice my speeds are going a bit fast over and im still shifting under 4k...:bonk:

Relax man, just be responsible. If you feel embarrased I'll have you know Ive gotten 4 speeding tickets in my corolla paying over $1600 in one year. Ive since learned but even today I got a little ancy and had fun doing 120 to work. Generally I drive conservative because I know what I drive, but I havent been in an Auto X for quite some time. That being said I say be a gentlemen, drive nice, and unleash it at a track/course, because thats where you need to be.

knewsom32 01-18-2013 11:42 PM

We have the Escort Live radar and its perfect. You might want to look into it. They also have an app that you can use to get live updates etc.

Are some of you actually reverse-bragging about getting tickets and losing licenses? Really?
