Just had mine (5 of them) ordered!!!
Actually, I'm ordering 5 of them!
Well, I own an import car dealership here in Hong Kong. One of them is for myself and the rest are already pre-sold to friends and customers. No price or ETA at the moment. But I'm guessing it will arrive late Jan and be registered and ready on the road around mid Feb. For myself, I've ordered a White 6MT with no options. I originally wanted the very basic one with steel wheels and unpainted bumpers. Since I will be replacing everything eventually. But the car is still too new, so I doubt I will have parts to mod it, and I don't wanna drive that around while I wait for parts! also one orange/red(demo color) 6MT, one black 6AT and other white 6AT and the final one is a BRZ 6MT Lots of mods are planned for this car. But for the first few months, I don't think anything will be going on yet. So far the parts that I already have are Volk Racing G12 in 18" Pair of Bride Low Maxx Gias Pioneer AppRadio Will keep you guys updated as soon as I get more info from Japan! |
Get some pics, and your own little review on it!
|
Hopefully soon enough!!! I hope I can get it before xmas!!!
|
Err i thought production doesn't start until next Feb/Mar???
Are u buying pre-production cars??? |
Oh wow so non-USDM market getting it earlier or something? Guess I'm out of the loop. Thought it was still April global release.
|
Nice. looking forward to seeing this unfold. :w00t:
|
Be sure to take pics and let us know how it drives!
|
Must be pre production because toyota and subaru say may/june 2012.
You probably put in a pre order. You can't officially order until the price is set. But hey hong kong is different right? |
JDM cars should be producing and sold before anywhere else in the world.
So far, Toyota hasn't accepted the build orders yet. I've gotten the GTR in 07 before everyone else, so I'm not surprised if the production car gets into my hands before the official delivery dates anywhere else. In Japan, the dealership will get their cars one or two weeks in advance, but held until the official selling date. We get the cars at the same time as the dealerships in Japan, but I just go ahead and register my car well before the selling date. |
@Godzpeed Doesn't Hong Kong have some kind of outrageous tax on luxury cars like 100% or something? How did you afford one? Teach me your ways >_<

FYI, my country has 130% import tax on all cars, and Vietnam has 300% import tax( from what I heard, but can be a bit lower) on Brand New cars (I don't really know their tax rate for used cars though). |
@Dark I thought you live in Seattle O.O, man all these import tax must have a major impact on car companies.

Major impact of the high import tax is, manufactures start building facilities in Asia. Even import tax is high, people still buy cars. |
There isn't going to be an exact release date (ie: april 14th). that is impossible. the car will be released and once they are available at dealerships they will be sold... no dealer in their right mind would wait and sit on a car for two weeks or even two days to sell it. once they buy the car from toyota and it shows up on their lot its for sale.
i call b.s. but then again if you're getting cars directly from toyota off the production line some way some how touche to you... the rest of the world doesn't operate that way though. |

No way you're getting the cars by Christmas, January, or even February. Car isn't even in production yet and you admit you have no ETA, yet you're thinking of wildly optimistic arrival dates? I hope you didn't inform your customers that those are the dates that the car will arrive because if you did, they might be a tad disappointed and perhaps angry.
|
Japanese dealers all respect the release dates, they do not deliver the car until the exact date. However, I'm not a Japanese dealer, and they have no control over what I do with my cars once it's arrived on to my hands. And I don't buy toyotas from their dealers, I get them directly from factory.
I'm pretty sure April is the north American launch, the JDM cars will be on the road far earlier than that. In fact when the GTR launched in 07, No customers cars could be delivered until mid jan of 08. My car arrived on Xmas eve of 07. We will wait and see when I can get more info from Toyota. I'm expecting the car will cost around 350k (45k usd)to 380k (48k usd) HKD with the first registration tax included |

The final release date has not been set but all they say is spring. Spring can mean June 2012 or march 2012. |
pls take photos of the white!
you guys don't even wanna start thinking how much it'll cost once it hits Singapore with the craziest car taxes... in the world... + give us a review of how the AT performs... cos i might have to share the car with my significant other and she does not like my manual cars (i dun call BS cos i did see GTRs get into HKG really quick... i even got a ride in a GTR from Charles of the HKG BMW club) |
