headlamp washer nozzle cover

i got my car back from the panel beater with the 2 nozzle covers in the boot. but i can't figure out how they attach, anyone here has any experience with that before i go back to the garage?

lucius 01-15-2013 09:58 AM

jeez, wish I could help but have no idea...

Vladror 01-15-2013 10:12 AM

i'm guessing the covers i got are for a bumper without the actual headlamp washers cause i really can't see how they'd fit.
but for once the internets are letting me down in terms of looking up part numbers

Not being in front of the car they do look like they line up. No clip maybe that's missing? Logic would say it "should" just clip on and clip off as I see very few other ways to install/remove them without damaging the paint. And here is a Porsche method I came across. Google machine isn't revealing much...

Vladror 01-15-2013 02:13 PM

they 'fit' they just don't clip onto anything.... i have the impression they just don't align, which is why i think there's a different cover for the the version that contains the washers (which doesn't make sense b/c the bumper without the washer doesn't need cover)
anyways, will swing by toyota tomorrow and see if they can figure it out.

sav 01-15-2013 04:12 PM

They should clip straight onto the washer nozzle if I'm not mistaken.

Something looks broken inside the pic of the washer slot. Is there some remnants of the old washer covers in there?

sav 01-15-2013 05:07 PM

BTW.

You have to pull the washer out and clip the cover onto that. It doesn't actually clip onto the bumper.

Vladror 01-15-2013 11:14 PM

ah, thanks for that. Is there a way to make them come out or can i just gently pull them out?

sav 01-16-2013 01:23 AM

No problem. Just pull them out gently.

Vladror 01-16-2013 03:16 AM

i had a closer look, and pulled out the washer and it seems there is a piece missing after all @sav: do you know if this is part of the washer or is it some kind of plug that connects both the washer and the cover?
if the former i might have to replace the washers...

I'm not sure but I'm assuming it's part of the washer.

Vladror 01-16-2013 04:34 AM

hmm, they must have broken something off then at the panel shop.. although the washer feels smooth and doesn't look as if it's damaged (there's a bit of frayed plastic in my original pic but it just seems from manufacturing)
Now the quest is on to fix it :)

too bad the Scion's don't have the washers otherwise there would be plenty of info on how to mod them ... now it seems to be only thing in the world Google has no answers on..

sav 01-16-2013 05:13 AM

Eish yeah, you could always email the manufacturer? http://www.koito.co.jp/english/

Vladror 01-17-2013 03:47 AM

after spending 2 hours at 2 different Toyota dealers, it is finally established what parts i (probably) need. The schema they have on their system look nothing like the actual washer though, so we'll see.
So they've ordered me 4 little clips, of course it has to come all the way from japan.
Isn't there anyone in CPT who has taken their bumper off and has actual experience on how to fit it all back together?

stevo_12v 11-02-2013 09:46 AM

I did the same thing to my car... ONCE
The retarded panel beaters BROKE off the tip of that plastic bit. If you have superglue and the missing piece, you probably will be able to fix it. Oh.. the OP is in January.. :P
Did you find out how much the part cost @Vladror ??

Sunbear 08-04-2017 02:18 AM

Anyone know the name of the piece that was missing? I've got the same problem just picked up a new washer cover cap from the dealer but am missing that little black connector.

inferno56kb 12-29-2017 04:09 AM

Reviving this thread. Does anyone know the part number of that connector piece? Or do I have to change the washer? Mine is missing after repairs done via insurance at the toyota dealership, they ordered a new cover but forgot to check the connection i guess. (the cover got delayed and i got it for self assembly a week after i got the car back)

Edit: Now after all the repairs are done i have some further information for anyone stumbling upon this. The small part connecting the cover with the washing mechanism can not be bought separate, however it CAN be disconnected from the washing mechanism so if you can get one used you can take out that little connector bit. The washer itself costs 115€ in Hungary so it's quite pricey (mine was done via insurance).
