Hot or Not?

Figured we needed a thread where we could post pictures/links of customised 86/BRZ/FR-S 's and we could have a good rave and rant about them. :happy0180: :mad0260:

To start off with:

Thoughts?

I like the Gazoo Racing version. Well executed in my opinion and reminds me of the Veilside conversions of years gone by. :coolpics: The "winglets" on the rear fenders are interesting!

TRD kit is a good looking - have a look at the Griffon concept.

Pity they don't offer a lightweight bootlid with the spoiler moulded in like the E46 BMW CSL had. I think if done subtly it could add to the stunning profile these cars have.

LOL - keyword = "lightweight" :bonk:That's why I'm slightly against all these addons - they add weight.

Gp1666 01-14-2013 10:24 AM

Seibon has a carbon fibre csl style lid for the 86, saw it on one of the threads. It looks really cool actually ~

sav 01-14-2013 10:41 AM

My favorite is still the Fiveaxis one:

Gp1666 01-14-2013 11:02 AM

I know off topic but A little update on my mini road trip to tzaneen. At first, Saw that they had road works and thus closed down Large segments of the road. I wanted to cry because of all the slow construction vehicles ahead and long waiting queues due to one direction traffic... But low and behold this turned out to be a blessing in disguise !!! After a 25 minute wait, I found myself in front of the que with what turned out to be a 20kms stretch of wide open asphalt with no fears of oncoming traffic !!!! :D :D the twist and turns of that mountain path is what Our cars were built for !!! And I'm glad to report that, I have fallen oh soo much more in love with this amazing, beauty of machine ~ ~ better love story then twilight foo shoo !!! :)

sav 01-14-2013 02:10 PM

Anything is a better love story than twilight but I get your point. An ex GF's dad used to stay that side and visiting was huge fun.

Trust the Lotus 7 guy to notice that! :bellyroll:

Must be honest, the Momo wheel and boots, and the aluminium shift ring would be really nice....

As would the lightweight flywheel and either of the performance clutches.

Worst mods I've ever done to a car. Ever.

Replaced my ST's clutch & flywheel with a Spec Stage 1 kit and Spec aluminium flywheel. Firstly, the flywheel is a bit noisy and secondly, the clutch pedal is so damn hard, Ford keeps saying my clutch is on its way out at every service. :bonk:

Not sure if the TRD clutch would be the same but definitely not something I'd want to screw around with again.

GeeTee86 01-17-2013 12:09 AM

Had a button clutch on my ST, worse thing ever for traffic. It's either in or out, no slip.

Eish yeah that is even worse. My ST got demoted to a weekend car because it was just too much of a pain in traffic.

But I understand the stock ST clutch (on the non-turbo ST170) wasn't the strongest either. Didn't it have the dual-mass flywheel as stock?

Agreed that a button clutch or indeed any high performance clutch is ultra heavy and edgy as hell. The stock clutch feel in the 86 is one of the best I've felt in recent years. For everyday use I think it's best.

But the others could be fun for being used strictly as a weekend toy... A heavy clutch doesn't bother me too much - a 996 Turbo that I once climbed into felt the same as my Mini.

sav 01-17-2013 08:16 AM

Yep, dual mass flywheel and very weak clutch - there was a recall overseas but Ford SA wasn't interested. That's why I had the Spec kit installed but nothing could prepare me for the pain it was going to be.

Spend 90mins in stop /start traffic then I can promise you that a heavy clutch would start bothering you.

I used to work in Rivonia, Bryanston and Sunninghill, a juddery clutch and an overheating engine were my worries! The pedal weight was nothing!

But I do have strong legs... :D

Love the hood, like the wing and wheels. They can keep the rest.

Batmobile? :D

Vladror 01-30-2013 05:25 AM

i'd drive that...

Vic_RSA 01-30-2013 06:41 AM

Originally saw it on FB posted by Toyota SA asking which superhero would drive it... Batmobile for sure... I just hope the producers of the Bond movies select an 86 to be used in one of the next movies. Bond has driven a Toyota before and it's high time he got re-acquainted with the brand. :D

And if they do lets hope they trick it out properly...
