I want this edition... (blue modified 86 TRD)

Anyone have more information on this edition?

I've only seen two sites with these... The second ones are from: http://speedhunters.com/archive/2011...toyota-86.aspx

The first ones from http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evoc...ota_gt_86.html But it makes no sense why they are in there...

I believe that it is a package for the car. Or it could just be a fixed up one

Longhorn248 12-02-2011 11:27 PM

Looks like a TRD body kit with BBS wheels. I think there was more info on that car in the original thread it was posted in, no clue where though.

xantonin 12-02-2011 11:29 PM

I couldn't find much information on it; admittedly I haven't been visiting this site much though. Especially with the flood of posts it's been harder to keep up. Hopefully this wasn't covered and I missed it.

yayforaddison 12-02-2011 11:29 PM

I feel your pain. If I can't get the model then I have a lot of thinking to do.

iDriveFast 12-02-2011 11:31 PM

Thats the car i want. Not the plain fr-s or brz. Im in love with the wing

I agree! I don't like the "basic" model of the car, it feels too toned down.

It's either this edition, a special edition or kit, or nothing.

I also feel the raised spoiler completes the car. It feels naked without it, kind of like how the Celica looks without a spoiler...

Ewwww... :P

Dark 12-02-2011 11:36 PM

Shortly after the car is released, you will be able to find that kit somewhere online. I also got a word from Five Axis on facebook, the guy said they are make a kit for FR-S and it will be on display soon. Let's just wait.

Haha thats exactly how I feel. I would be happy with just a full on base model if I could just get this body kit.

I'm trying to find the thread where they talk this model. Some try and say its TRD but I think its actually called something else. Its starts with an M... Grrrr, I will find it!

tranzformer 12-02-2011 11:42 PM

I want duckbill spoiler instead of a huge wing (I think). But that front end looks great.

Could be either Modelista or Sport package.

I was, but now I think its just me confusing myself.

The Modellista is this model http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ght=Modellista

But the one we are looking at here in this thread is the TRD?

Anywho, I also ran by someone saying that model, One: May only come in one color and here in the states it may be asphalt, and Two: They are still unsure if it will even come here to the states.

I'm having a hard time keeping up to as you can see. I read one thing, then another, then can't find what I read nor keep up...

My heads spinning now :eyebulge:

yayforaddison 12-03-2011 12:07 AM

Now that I think about it and did a little more searching,

This is the Modellista - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ght=Modellista
This is the TRD - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ght=Modellista

And the beauty we are talking about now, is still kinda nameless?

I'll just call it the ModelTurd

DuMa 12-03-2011 12:17 AM

i used to like lip kits until i slammed every car i own and mess up the lips. no more. i think i need that extra clearance if im gonna slam a car

cassidy0998 12-03-2011 12:17 AM

I'm pretty sure this is a TRD kit (maybe one of several variants).

The wing resembles the 7th gen. TRD Celica wing way too much not to be.

Jordo! 12-03-2011 12:20 AM

Well, shit. That's the 8th gen TRD Celica sport package :D

xantonin 12-03-2011 12:31 AM

The whole kit actually reminds me of my current car... being blue doesn't help.

subatoy 12-03-2011 12:37 AM

all I know is the name "rice edition"
I hope that wing stays in Japan and never comes to the US.
oh wait! is it a coat hanger? that would make more sense.

dodof 12-03-2011 12:49 AM

I just need a basic car with this kit. Actually, I just need the wing

Rice is not how something looks... Just FYI...

You'd be laughed off the tuning circle in Japan if you can't understand that those guys (the real tuners) actually put big ridiculous wings on cars that actually "help" the performance of them...

Not saying this car will or will not benefit form the wing, but I'm sure it's not purely cosmetic, and personally most of us who own that vehicle probably won't need it, but it is not rice purely because it looks the part...

quik1987 12-03-2011 03:29 AM

I wish people would stop calling this the TRD edition

Agree. Big wing helps improving high speed stability and cornering, but I think less than half of people who buy the package put the big wing in a good use (at the track).

Why? You don't know that it isn't.

xantonin,

Looks great! I used to have a yellow '04 GT with the action package. Was a great little car. Very fun to drive and got great mpg. I miss it!

nrclptcnsmniak 12-03-2011 04:43 AM

gross. big spoilers on cars is just too childish for me. there are other ways to create downforce without a spoiler. there are plenty of cars in which produce lots and lots of downforce without the use of a spoiler. i hate the attention it receives from people, racers, and especially cops. and its a total **** block. no woman with any self respect would get into that car haha.

KAuss 12-03-2011 07:12 AM

I'm married, wing away!

Soravia 12-03-2011 07:26 AM

You must be one sad dude to need a ride to get laid. I really don't give a crap what other people think of what I drive. So long as the spoiler is functional and actually helps my driving style, it's all good to me. But I'd rather have an adjustable spoiler. I don't want additional down force while I cruise on highway.

church 12-03-2011 08:05 AM

Looks similar to the winged mule?

i never stated that I needed a ride to get laid... and im not asking you to take into consideration what I am saying nor am I trying to change your mind. I think the spoiler is gross. It gets in the way when you need to look behind you and you stand out way too much and its something a 15 year old kid would want on his car. yeah yeah yeah your driving style blah blah... I forgot everybody on these forums are damn race car drivers who need the extra downforce when theyre going 100+mph... And additional downforce when you cruise? I dont quite think you understand how downforce works... downforce doesnt work when you just "cruise" silly boy. You need to reach a certain speed in order for the downforce to be produced by that massive wing and its definitely not functional when youre just cruising at 65 mph on the highway. and I deem "I dont want additional down force while i cruise on highway" as the dumbest statement on this forum to date.

and please explain to me how a spoiler is helping your "driving style"

<--- and im actually engaged... so youre the sad dude.

I see, so a large spoiler doesn't create additional down force when cruising around the highway at 70+ MPH. It'll help me out when I take corners at the same speed or less?? Or do I have to take corners at 100 MPH?
Isn't it all about speed + how steep the spoiler is?

LoL, yeah I'm married too. Stock spoiler seem better than trying to blow more money on my 'toy' after buying it.

I dont know if youre being sarcastic. lol

But imma assume youre being serious. Air needs to move around the spoiler and underneathe your car at a certain rate for downforce to be created. Usually the engineers will tell you at which speed the spoiler starts to become functional and how many lbs of downforce it actually adds. There is a minimum speed required in where it can create a significant effect. I cant remember the numbers for the WRX STi off of the top of my head. But I can assure you your spoiler will not be functioning at cruising level speeds on the highway.

And I am sorry for my rude comment. Sincere apologies ^_^

yayforaddison 12-03-2011 09:50 AM

Weather or not the spoiler is functional or not (it was used on the mule for the nurburgring back a few months ago during that race, so most likely it is), its not what I'm worried about. I think the lines from the lip, skirts, tail, and, yes, even spoiler, complete this cars looks.
Sure, I may actually take this car to the track from time to time, but I'm not even looking to buy this edition/kit for its spoiler on the track, like I said, it just looks amazing.
Say what you want, but I'm not here to debate, I'm here to figure out what its called, if it'll be here in the US, and when I can get it

MrVito 12-03-2011 11:06 AM

For those saying it looks like a Celica spoiler, look again. The Current gen STI Sedan has a nearly identical spoiler, the sides are the same (minus the "winglets" sticking out), the arched "wing" portion is flat in the middle and then angles down to the sides as well, just like the current STI. It's really just the winglets that are different, in that the STI has none.
