Yoshihara Champion
18x8 +30
18x9 +35
225, 235/40R18 Continental DW's

More photos coming soon, still got to finish cleaning up this afternoon. I went with this small stagger in tire size to try and keep from getting understeer with a 225/255 setup. Also it will be a while before i go FI and have serious power so this is enough grip to keep it fun, i can always go with a 255/35 later on the back if neccessary.

The DW's are a dream so far, i had 235/40 Nitto Motivo's all around which were very good for an all season but the 225/40 up front and more summer oriented design has definitely sharpened things up. It's only been a day but the ride quality and noise are just as good as the all season which is great also.

Pics added, Toyota emblems from Pure Automotive installed also. Check out the fishbowl passenger side taillight, getting that replaced tomorrow.

Need to lower some more too...

seven 01-11-2013 06:32 PM

I hate how a 3 piece look wheel will make even an 18 look "small" on this car.
Spokes curving inward doesn't help either.
I do like the design of the wheel tho.

Exactly, I like the wheel design and had been waiting to see some pics on the twins, kind of disappointed with how small the wheel looks. I still would like to see it in person to see if it looks any better and I definitely think a drop would help.

Looks good though.

Pics are kinda deceiving, they don't look as big as the 18" XXR's obviously with no lip but they don't look too small in person. It does need to be a little lower though, the Tein H Tech aren't cutting it i'm gonna have to drop it some more eventually. I like them a lot though and they are lighter than the Gram Lights...

I really want some SSR's but at $2700/set it ain't happening i got these for under $800...

Flat Black VW 01-11-2013 06:53 PM

Yeah a buddy of mine just pointed out the price of these to me today and I was shocked. They are a killer deal.

They might indeed look bigger with more drop.

wow :confused0068:
Nice deal indeed.

JoeBoxer 01-11-2013 07:05 PM

Couple of things to mention, they come with a valve stem that goes through the wheel and you mount the sensor in another hole in the back. Not a big deal really, hides the ugly tpms sensor though.

Another thing i have learned after all this, buy what *you* like, doesn't matter if they aren't JDM or some big name brand. I got more compliments on the car locally with the XXR's than the Gram Lights which cost $1k more. I was being a wheel snob and i'm certainly not rich enough to be a snob about anything.

Unique in this scene: utter CRAP no one else would run OR obscenely expensive things no one else can afford.

Looks good man, west coast always gets the new stuff before I can. I gotta get something to get lower though it makes them look a lot better.

Sadly
At least you can be unique locally, right? haha

However the upside is, you can almost always see the look of it before buying, and know what tire sizes work... so that's a plus.

seven 01-12-2013 02:41 PM

Also, Good choice in tires.
Had those on my last car and they were wonderful

I love them so far but haven't been able to really test them out with all the rain but thinking I need to go lower. GC street is my top option but also waiting to see the eibach pro street kit.

A lot of HPDE folks run them as rain tires when its too wet for R-comps or slicks. I ran em as street tires on my corvette and they did excellent

As far as suspension goes... Here's what I did...

JoeBoxer 01-12-2013 11:35 PM

I need it to be just a little lower, mine are supposed to be 1.0 front and .8 rear, I might go with the swift BRZ springs and koni's or bilsteins. Also thinking about just getting the GC coilovers on the stock struts until there is a full replacement strut available.

I'm really happy with these, kinda surprised how stretched the rears look but didn't want to go 255 in the rear until I add some real power. Believe it or not I've had more compliments on these already than I got on the gram lights.

I can't wait for people to tell me they like my Rotas. :mad0260:

Around here Rotas are known as expensive wheels, I'm not a rota hater at all the rt5 was my other choice but the +44 front was the issue. If they were +35-38 front and +40 rear that's what I would have got.

dori. 01-17-2013 11:58 PM

I'd hate to see what they consider cheap wheels then

 Joke about Rota Titans being copies of my Weds. I'm just salty about it.

Just as an example a local Facebook group member was recommending Drag wheels as an alternative to the high dollar Rotas. They also said I was asking too much for my XXR 530's which I was only asking 500 for. I promptly left that Facebook group after that.

I hear ya, what I really wanted was SSR's in the Moto spec 18x8/9 but this was the closest I could find and the whole set was just a lil more than one SSR wheel.

It can be done, but there will always going to be people jumping on the bandwagon. Imitation is the highest form of flattery as they say.

I went with a classic wheel and went custom. Hopefully I stay the only one with my wheels.

Got mine through discount tire direct, they will tell you they don't fit but they obviously do they will want to send you +40 front. You could actually run the 9's all around pretty easily.

just saw this thread. Looks wonderful! Now if only we made 19x8.5 +33and 19x9.5 +35.... ;)

I would do +38 or 40 on the rear but front looks good.

yoshiharadesign 01-27-2013 12:33 AM
