Where do you keep your rpm...
I'm curious how many of you drive with your revs down low...
and how many of you have that baby at 4 or higher even if your not accelerating. |
I leave them in the car where they belong. Or around 4k RPM or lower in the city. I do not like it when my baby yells at others.
|
In city driving when it gets down near 2k rpm's I will consider down shifting depending on traffic, whether going up hill, down hill, etc. When I get up to 3k rpm's I consider up shifting, again depending on several influencing factors.
|
city driving around 2k-4k. when I'm all alone, I activate afterburners, I mean sport mode, and push it beyond 7k in spurts on straight aways. in moderation though. I rarely break the speed limit...much.:burnrubber:
|
between 2k-3k in city driving, following the shift indicator to maximize gas mileage.
|
If I'm not accelerating, I generally keep it below 3k, which usually turns out to be 5th gear at 35-40mph. And In normal city driving I'll generally upshift between 3000 and 3500.
|
2-3km for normal driving. I only take it up to 4km when I'm merging onto the highway.
|
I am so afraid of revving it I often turn the car off while driving.
|
Uh... I shift before the TQ dip. lol
|
2800-3200 rpm if I'm being conservative
7200 rpm if I feel like hearing the engine roar |
My tach seems to always be blinking red, anyone else have this issue? Maybe I should take it to the dealer under warranty
|
Always between 2k and 3k RPMs.
|
For normal driving/cruising I like to stay around 2-3k.
Decent accelerations, like from stop, I go up to 4k because my exhaust sounds cool. And for real power I go up to 7k, where my rev limiter is set. Quote:
EDIT: Here [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hn4on_abP_w"]Setting BRZ or FRS rev indicator light - YouTube[/ame]) |
I live in the 2-3k rpm band after I get up to traffic speed.
But before I get up to traffic speed, that's a whole nother story :) |

I think you missed his sarcasm...;) |
in city @ 1500 = 60 km ..
if i am harry it will be 2500 - 3000 = 100 km - 120 km in hay-way it is in 3500 = 140 km if i lose my mind 4500 = 180 km |
I think it's good to take it up above 7K at least once every time you drive the car. Kind of the "Italian tuneup" philosophy. But, do whatever makes you happy.

I keep mine in a safe in our office closet. Nobody steals our revs!

When I'm cruising at a constant speed, I keep it between 2000 and 2500.
I try not to keep it below 2000 even when I'm engine braking. |
2-4k
|
when i feel like saving on gas I shift at bout 2.5k and just feather the throttle. However, I can barley stick with this strategy as I always like to hear my tires chrip when shifting from 2nd to 3rd at 7400 rpm!

Knowing how Vvt works, I keep my revs north of 3000 mostly, optimal oil pressures, minimal deposits equal a happy gmookher.
It's good to open her up regularly once she warmed up. Self cleaning temps are key, as proven with other motors prone to deposit, drive it like you stole it. Use good oil, and rev it out. Hard. Babying it is against design. Water pump flow, oil, etc, all like being circulated and motor likes the 4k to6k range, at least with a great tune, mine liked it best there with a unresonated free flowing tailpipe, it's not a Camry. Floor it. Njoy |
I'm still "breaking" in my car, but my right foot keeps getting twitchy. It's only at 670 miles and it's seen 6K more than a few times this week...
|
I dont get to drive much but on weekends. I am over 3k, under 5k, mostly. I just love pulsing in and out of turns, little hills.....pure fun.

I usually stay between 2 and 3k in the city, 3-5 on the twistys. 5000 miles and I have yet to bring it up to 7k. Im so used to my last car that hated being spun up past 5k, takes time to adjust I guess.

still have under 200 miles on mine.. city shift 1500/2 sometimes 3 if i need to move a bit.. entering freeway under 4k... still a baby.. not yet:burnrubber:
|
2-3.5k in the city (i'd rev more but my aftermarket exhaust brings too much attention) and all hell breaks loose on the on-ramp and freeway.
|
Geeze, some of you people need to drive AE86s with the 4AGE. We love revs! What's the point of having this car if you never go over 4k? It's not quite like the 4AGE where it doesn't really wake up until 5k, but still, it wants to rev! I guess when I'm just normal driving I think I shift around 4k but really will take it whereever.
|
I finally got past the break-in period today (1000mi), so I decided to let loose a little and take her to the 5-6k range. Definitely fun and it pushed me even more to want an exhaust.
|
I cruise down low on the tach. I like it quiet but I also feel that I get some nice grunt down there when I need it. Basically taking advantage of that lower torque peak (before the dip)
|
I like my cars fast with my revs down low
I tapped, I talked, I conquered. |
Never less than 2K, never higher than 7.4K.
|
Before break in, despite not really believing that theres a need to stay below 4k, i did it anyways, until 1000mi which i hit my 4th day of ownership lol
[ame]http://youtu.be/FFeHKPWrsGQ[/ame] Since then i tend to stay around 3-5 city and around 2-2500 on slower highways (45mph) |
Around 3-4. Decent fuel economy during the flat spot where the torque dips, but fun is just one downshift away :D
|
Usually shift around 3.5. I'll break the 1000 mile mark day after tomorrow, and I'm going to have to take it up to 7000, just because I can.
