Exhaust, never thought it would be this hard

Ok guys I have been all over here listening and looking at different exhausts. There are so many to choose from. My brother has his own company where he is able to get wholesale pricing on a couple products. I know he can get the Tekeda exhaust for, in my opinion, very cheap. I do like the sound of the Tekeda just not the low 3HP gain it gives. What are your thoughts and if you would like to reply videos of your exhaust or exhaust you wish you would have bought or are looking to buy it may be helpful. I know there are a ton on here Im just really torn on what direction to go. I should mention that it is not a track car it is my everyday car that I like to "drive" I do like to mod and have some great ideas. Just really stuck on exhaust and rims haha.

Thanks guys!

cruzinbill 01-08-2013 11:47 PM

could always go local and just get one custom for way less

JoeBoxer 01-09-2013 12:04 AM

I can't stand that pipe that hangs low on the Takeda, my two favorites are MXP and Milltek. If you wanted something cheaper there are a few axlebacks like nameless, Greddy sp elite, and the new Works AB-M is only 409 on the group buy. I don't have any experience with the axlebacks but the first 2 have had favorable reviews, the works is new so not much out there.

Fnbeast86 01-09-2013 12:10 AM

I think the axlebacks are a waste for a little more you can get the invidia n1... I think I'm going to go with that just because it's the only one I can afford

Edit: catbacks are same price and same installation so might as well!!!

JoeBoxer 01-09-2013 12:16 AM

Check in to the ISIS exhaust too it's about 600 and performed pretty well in the exhaust shoot out in dsport.

bgibbsunc 01-09-2013 12:17 AM

Ark Grip or DTS. *Drops the mic*

My Nameless sounds and looks great. Furthermore, it was hand made in the USA; that's worth the price difference to me compared to a robot welded Invidia melon launcher.

Fnbeast86 01-09-2013 12:25 AM

Haha you don't like n1 I don't think it that's bad at least from the videos I've seen

jybrd 01-09-2013 12:27 AM

Thanks for the quick responses. I never thought of having one custom made, i worry about the sound in that case. I will listen to what you guys suggested and see what way to go.

JoeBoxer 01-09-2013 12:32 AM

Forgot about Perrin somehow, the non resonated one is a great choice also.

jflogerzi 01-09-2013 12:34 AM

Perrin cat back in the GB is only 760$ Don't skimp on the exhaust as you get what you pay for

ruskymx 01-09-2013 12:40 AM

I went with SRT, but Nameless and Perrin were both high on my list of possibilities. Happy with my SRT even though it is very loud.

Yeah I can't wait to hear it with an UEL header or better yet mated to an AVO Turbo Kit

I love the SRT one its just way out of my $$ range right now :(

thatWESguy 01-09-2013 01:36 AM

I see myself in the same boat, I've narrowed my top 3 to the SP Elite, Perrin, and Works AB-M

Check out Nameless axle back too, you pretty much have the same list haha

Wes 01-09-2013 01:58 AM

Seriously thats how i feel, but I narrowed it down to Invidia, Perrin and Greddy. But I am probably going Perrin

Thanks for that , I was just looking for a good deal on the Perrin :happyanim:

LeeMaster 01-09-2013 02:05 AM

I went with the Greddy EVO 3 but the Nameless exhaust was the next one I wouldve picked. I cannot wait to hear how the evo3 will sound with UEL headers.

No problem! I am looking forward to mine.

Mitch 01-09-2013 02:15 AM

I'm waiting on the Stromung axle back. No clue on timeline, but I'll post a soundclip when I get it.

stockysnail 01-09-2013 02:24 AM

Nameless Performance offset with sport cat downpipe and resonator for the win! Then headers when they finish them up and start selling them. :)

tintumz22 01-09-2013 02:27 AM

Check out WORKS Catback Exhaust.. Gains, stealthy, and get what you paid for + smooth aggressive sound just right for our car..

itsibarra 01-09-2013 03:47 AM

I just installed the invidia q300 tonight. My car is also my DD, and it almost sounds stock inside the cabin, but from behind it sounds very aggressive and deep, with no tin can/rattle sounds.

This is what I want to do(if I ever get enough money) but if (and only if) the Nameless header has the cat like it did in the prototype pictures I will probably get the catless down pipe. Would much rather spend my money at a small shop.

Why cat the header and not the downpipe?

mrlewistan 01-09-2013 07:56 AM

I just signed up for a WORKS axelback w/resonator. Hope i like it. Muffler deletes may be loud but the rumble is inexplicably amazing. The only one true exhaust i really like is the TRD but that one is 5 times more expensive than the simple WORKS delete.

DarkSunrise 01-09-2013 08:58 AM

Comprehensive 11 exhaust shoot-out by DSport mag here, complete with video sound clips and dyno charts:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=21402&page=5

You can see scans of the article if you scroll down that link.

I've also heard Nameless and TRD exhausts in person, both sounded good. I ultimately went with Perrin non-resonated.

jadewbj 01-09-2013 09:18 AM

If you are worried about the only 3HP gained from the takeda and think there are others out there that add a lot more, forget that. This car does not make "big power" from a catback exhaust upgrade. If someone is claiming big gains than they are lying or inflating numbers.

You will get more power from a test pipe than a catback.

Get your exhaust based on quality and sound.

I went with the MXP and a Motiv test pipe and love it.

2forme 01-09-2013 09:24 AM

FWIW, I have a headerback SRT and dynoed at 174-175whp with that as my only mod. Sounds really nice too!

RICEBOY_86 01-09-2013 11:17 AM

going with the Invidia N1 with titannium tips.. love the look and it has a very aggressive sound to it.. and the price isnt to bad either

jimbobrand 01-09-2013 12:09 PM

I have the Nameless offset axelback and love it. I wanted the quietest option since I plan on upgrading the front and over pipe and doing a header down the line.

Also, like others have stated, many of the manufacturers that claim big numbers on catbacks made sure to post their baseline numbers that were recorded before the motors were fully broken in (in the range of 150-160 whp) and then posted their numbers with exhaust after the motors "loosened up" a bit. The FRS/BRZ in stock form seem to be making in the range of 160-175 whp when they have a few miles on them.

Because it's easier to install. Don't need to worry about moving the sensor or jimmy rigging anything to fool the car. Plus it's cleaner and comes that way from the factory. A high flow cat will still give a decent performance boost. It's rather not get the few extra hp and stay with the cat/legality/ease of install.

I've seen quite a few people selling them after purchase because of droning. I hope it works out for you and there's no drone. Nothing worse than getting a headache just from driving.

It's still illegal with a catless front pipe and/or modifying the stock cat.

I second the ISIS, it sounds and looks great. The quality and ROI is pretty competitive as well.

was hoping for something slightly quieter, I drive about 60 miles a day, so I need something with no freeway drone lol
