Getting pulled over

Got pulled over only to find out the police officer wanted to look at my car.

This what happen I was on the way home last night doing 75 on a 70 m/hr road and next thing I know there is cop pulling me over, so here I am thinking he is gonna give me a ticket. Well he walks up to my passenger side window and ask what kinda car is this? So I told him its is a frs and so on. Well after about 15 mins of me showing the officer my car he finally says ok sir keep the speed down a tad and have a good night and walked back to his car.

wrxgoose 01-08-2013 04:45 PM

kanundrum 01-08-2013 05:10 PM

Got pulled over for wreckless in VA, very nice Female cop just gave me a $35 ticket (county just wanted money) which I was perfectly fine with.

All tickets for no frot liscense plate and speedind once

Carbon420 01-08-2013 05:40 PM

Got pulled over the day after my registration expired. $460 in tickets for unauthorized use of a licence plate and driving an unregistered vehicle. They were sucks about it too. Basically they thought the car was stolen and were heading in the direction of trying to hit me with that cause they didn't think I could afford a car like this. Asked what I do for a living and everything.

Should have been pulled over for typing too fast:party0030:

Mr.Jay 01-08-2013 06:46 PM

1st time I got pulled over was 7 mins after picking up the car and that was because I had no plate attached to the front of the car even tho I had my plate on my dash (was going home to install my side mount)

3rd time I got pulled over a cop just wanted to check it out. He walked around the call before saying anything to me then asked me to rev it a bit and how I liked it.

All the other times I gotten tickets for stupid things like driving in the rain my tires lost traction but caught really quickly but not quick enough to have a cop on a different street turn his lights on and pull me over and tell me he heard me speeding. :(

I used to live in Texas, and have gotten a ticket for not having a front license plate. Don't risk it, they WILL get you.

Celica00 01-08-2013 07:53 PM

pulled over 3 times. tickets 3 times. 2 were bullshit reasons, one was a legit ticket.

only in texas! eh! he! he! are you sure this guy wasn't a relative, and knows you? gotta admit,if you was doin' 75 in a 70,kinda doubt he would pull you over,no matter WHAT you was drivin' don't make a whole lot of sense for an officer to do that in the first place, and then talk to you for 15 minutes about your car! ???..was the road empty? not many cars? even more reason NOT to stop you,if you was doin' 75 in a 70!..just sayin'

It was about 9:30 at night and there wasn't many cars on the hwy either. i think he was sitting at this gas station and saw my go by and was like what kinda car was that? would be my guess. Cause I've never seen the guy in my life.

jmaryt 01-08-2013 09:13 PM

ok! gotta admit it sounds kinda f**ked, but i guess it really happened! as you say!

Bullshit, I would have taken that to court. No radar or lidar to prove it... hope you didn't settle for that.

I had a guy at a gas station ask me if it was some Italian sports car... lol.

I just got pulled over for window tint, it was a whole whopping 5% over legal(30% instead of 35%) and I have a prescription to go as dark as 20%. Apparently a prescription isn't good enough, you have to have an affidavit. Instead of telling me that and me giving a chance to fix the paperwork, he tells me it's not good enough and gives me a fix it ticket. I'm so pissed!

You understand they cant soley pull you over just for tint

mashal 01-08-2013 10:48 PM

How do you tell how much tint someone has ? Especially a 5% difference ?

Cade01 01-08-2013 10:55 PM

He used a light transmission meter on the window. What I would like to know is if it makes a difference if the window is measured at night as opposed to in bright daylight?

Dark tint being illegal is reason enough to pull you over. BECAUSE ITS BELOW THE LEGAL LIMIT.

No it doesn't matter if its night or day if he used an actual meter. The meter supplies the light and a the reader to tell how much light is coming thru. They don't use the sun as a light source as that would change. I use a densitometer reading xray film and it works the same way.

Demandred7 01-08-2013 11:09 PM

About a month and a half after buying the car, I (thankfully) only received a warning. I was probably going about 80ish km/h in a 60 km/h zone (not really sure). Nothing huge, but, Firestorm tends to attract a lot more attention. Fortunately for me, the officer was a little surprised that I had my entire family in the car (as evidenced by the expression on the officer's face) after picking up my kids from the Grandparents watching them overnight (it was my anniversary (I also volunteered this fact)). The officer then proceeded to ask if this was the new Toyota that everyone was talking about? I carefully mentioned that it handles like it is on rails (making sure that I never mentioned that the car was fun to drive fast). I think that if I had been alone in the car, I surely would have received a ticket.

I wish that they actually had an actual tint limit here in Ontario, Canada, but, it is the officer's discretion as to whether it is too dark or not. As far as I am concerned, this leaves too much to interpretation and no consistency and no way of just buying what is legal. Thankfully, I have never been questioned on it (mine is 30%) and I know others with darker and they haven't had issues, but, not like you can use that as a defense.

titan_rw 01-08-2013 11:29 PM

In Alberta, any non factory tint is illegal on the front side windows. The 'back' side windows / rear window, anything goes.

That being said, every vehicle I've driven since 2006 has had tint on the front side windows. Never been pulled over for it. No tickets for other reasons though too.

My current car has lighter tint on the front than the rest of the car. I think I've got 35% on the driver / passenger windows. And 20% on the rest of the car, excluding the windshield of course.

He said it was because he couldn't see my temporary permit well enough. On the back of the ticket it says its a traffic violation so I think they can pull you over for just tint.

Pretty much... Georgia has a 32% limit. I'm taking the factory bullshit off and doing 15% all around I think. Check out the TINT compilation thread. Good looking FRS/BRZ's there!

Well I don't know about in the states but here in Canada were allowed 10%. Anything less than that would be thrown out in court. So In a 70 were good to 77.

I got pulled over in Virginia back when I had my Civic because it had 35% and their legal limit was 40something. Granted the cop couldnt do shit about it because my car is registered in Georgia where that is legal, but I still got pulled over for it.

I have the factory (port installed) tint. With all these hassles you all receive I am glad I have it.
