I'm losing it. How did you cope?

SO! Day 5 since I ordered my Toyota 86 GTS. The current waiting time is 8 months....

I think I have watched every video on the net, I stalked Subaruwrxfan on youtube and went to his FB, and now am daily asking him questions. He linked me to these forums. I have picked out all the items I will be getting for my car and have book marked them ready to go as soon as she arrives. Guys I have even gone back to toyota begging for another test drive. My Gf is pissed because I rather talk about the car and Wrxfans videos then listen to her talk.

This is my first car that I have been able to customize, Ive had a BMW X5 but traded that in for a corrolla to save money on fuel and also the X5 was getting old.

I don't think I'm going to make it guys! 8 months is going to kill me.
How did you cope!? Or even give me some cool ideas what I should do with it when I get it!

I want to find a decent Body Kit.
Amazing Black Rim.
Put in a Android touch screen and remove the stock one.
Lower it 2''inches
SRT Headerback Exhausts.
Arm Rest

Optional things:
Dash Cam + Radar detector, Black out the lights if I figure out how too.
Please you can help me by criticizing what I want to add to it once you have valid reasoning, Or even give me some more tips because as I said this is my first cart I have ever planned to customize!
HELP!

Sutty 01-08-2013 02:57 AM

Kyubi - if you are willing to drive to get your car I would recommend ringing around dealerships and see what's available. I ended up getting my GTS in Aug rather than Jan.
I know of several other on this and other forums that have done the same thing. You may risk your deposit, but again, myself and many others have ended up getting our deposit back.

Good luck mate and if you don't find one sooner think of all that cash you can save for the mods.

Drive it like you stole it on some winding mountain roads.

Kyubi 01-08-2013 03:43 AM

Yea, I have tried ringing everywhere for it most likely every Dealership in Perth, I considered going over east looking but I dont know getting a bit out of control haha

Yea the dash cam could be fun, I live in the Perth hills so I will definetly be driving like I stole it might get some good takes with the cam to share!

Just looked at the Perrin Catback Exhaust, I think I like it over the SRT HB one.

Edit1: Haha Switch Ikr, Kids are starving in Africa yet my pain is still a lil worse..... Jks jks Bless those kids.

atledreier 01-08-2013 05:21 AM

If it is any consolation It'll slowly get worse as the date slooowly creep nearer. Then you get the delivery date about 6 weeks in advance, and then the REAL pain starts.

You think you have it bad now? Wait until the day before delivery....

haha meanie!

ApoNono 01-08-2013 06:00 AM

I got lucky. I placed my order with a 4 month wait. I was the same as you. I watched all the videos and read everything I could here. Two weeks later my salesman called me and said he had a raven on the lot that matched everything I wanted except the color. I went down, looked at it, drove it and took it home that night.

Touge_ninja 01-08-2013 07:07 AM

Play forza 4 and get the FRS/GT86 thats how I coped

atledreier 01-08-2013 07:35 AM

That first time you press the "Start" button makes it all worth it.....

Bahaha Classic!

And yes when I press that button I feel my body is going to be confusingly turned on >.>

Touge_ninja 01-08-2013 07:48 AM

Keyword: when....

Kyubi 01-08-2013 08:05 AM

Loving the little subtle burns guys!

Skurj 01-08-2013 08:18 AM

Ordered mine Nov 17th and specified I wanted delivery March 2013... as soon as it is 8 weeks away I am going to be checking with the dealer weekly until I get a confirm that the delivery is on schedule. (i have my doubts)

Jonesing myself..

FR-Shadow 01-08-2013 09:50 AM

So not sure why its so long of a wait for everyone. I went to the dealer and they didnt have the color/tranny I wanted --they had like 5 other FRSs just none i wanted. So they contacted another dealer and it was sent on a flatbed to my dealer and only had 3 miles on it. I waited less then a week. Dont other delaers do the same...look else where to have one sent to them?

Skurj 01-08-2013 10:05 AM

Well they do dealer trades when they can, though I am sure they would rather sel their own stock. FRS spends 15 days on the lot average in the US at least, so they are one of the hardest to get vehicles in the US at the moment. I specified I wanted delivery at the end of March because I didn't want to take delivery of my first new car in the winter.

Kyubi 01-08-2013 10:07 AM

In Australia there is a huge waiting list atm, they dont even have many in the dealership, I was looking to test a Auto GTS to try the leavers but could only find the basic 86 in Auto. Subaru have stopped taking pre orders.

FRSFirestorm 01-08-2013 10:07 AM

No way I could wait 8 months. I'm sure its different in Australia but I just stayed in contact with local dealers in my area and when the color I wanted showed up at one I went and got it.

Touge_ninja 01-08-2013 10:08 AM

Also remember this guy is from australia, toyota has been having a rough times with allocations for the country so their delivery dates are jacked compared to is US owners.

Back on topic. You can press the start button now actually.....for about 800MS points for the dlc :D

Kyubi 01-08-2013 10:22 AM

Someone needs to record themselves pressing the start button.

It will please me in many ways >.> XD

Unfortunately when none of the dealers around here even have a single one it doesn't work so well.

I ordered mine November 11th and it arrived last Friday and I signed everything yesterday. Today I take her home!

Drive her hard for me! Who cares about the 1000km/mile break in! (Jks Jks Look after her :P)

IloveBaldEagles 01-08-2013 11:12 AM

Hey Kyubi. Most of us have driven their cars in the past 6 hours... What have you done?

Kyubi 01-08-2013 11:20 AM

Wanked to the picture of you driving your car..

But really just drove a less superior car :/

This. I drove about 250 miles to get mine but I got it in 3 weeks of looking instead of 8 months of waiting. I got my deposit back as well.
I recommend calling dealerships in your area till you find someone that had a deal fall through. They are usually overjoyed to sell it to you instead. Just make sure there are a couple of color options that you like because it is hard to find your first choice.

Good luck! I hope you find one and love it as much as I love mine.

Wow that really sucks...I guess I just got lucky the dealer I went to is the largest in the state so they have quite a few FRS's.

And congrats...now lets talk about something even more unbearable...the 1000mile break in period shifting only at 4k max lol.

Even more bad news! haha

naikaidriver 01-08-2013 12:48 PM

this is unusual... I'm sitting in the service waiting area and this dealer has two FRS's on the floor right now. One auto and one 6spd. Both fully loaded.

shaggy 01-08-2013 01:01 PM

I got extremely lucky. It was the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the day after Black Friday, and I convinced my wife to come test drive a manual firestorm FR-S. I told her that we were just test driving because I'm on an order list with a 2 month wait time for a manual Argenta. I go out there, test drove it, and then the salesman looks up some incoming FR-S's for sh!ts and giggles. As it turns out there were 2 coming in. The Argenta was spoken for but the Asphalt one was not. :confused0068:I was willing to settle for the asphalt. I mean its only a darker shade of grey right?!??!?!?As we were processing my deposit, appearently the guy that was getting the Argenta was initially settling himself becuase he really wanted the Asphalt. Long story short, I drove home my Argenta FR-S that Tuesday 11-27-12.

Dezoris 01-08-2013 01:17 PM

8 month wait!!! That is just over the top.

mit_peid 01-08-2013 01:25 PM

I feel your pain! I hate my life! My FRS is supposedly at the dock somewhere in Long Beach, but the fleet manager that is supposed to be giving me play-by-play updates on my car caught a bad cold over the weekend. (what an asshole) jk jk

I cope by playing Gran Turismo 5 XL. For some reason the FRS was a free download whereas the BRZ was a $1 download, wtf? Some of the GT86 prototypes were free with the game though. It is even a great car to drive in GT5XL!

jesperswe 01-08-2013 02:28 PM

8 MONTHS?! What the hell? In Sweden we have about 4-5 weeks waiting time right now for a new GT86 :o

86BRZ 01-08-2013 03:44 PM

It seems like your 86 sickness just started. These are some common symptoms of the early infection and it is far from over yet. Soon you will call all the dealers in the country to try to get one sooner and pay extra...buying all the parts when you don't even have it...and reading and following this forum more than fb or your own email. Losing focus at work and dreaming driving the car becomes a daily thing.

But wait until you get the car, then the stage 2 infection will only get worse...

Let me help take the edge off.

Just pick up or look at this beauty for the next 8 months if it does not change your sexual orientation first at least it will make you feel more relaxed.

America's Best

switchlanez 01-08-2013 04:01 PM

Do you have a PS3? Months before the Toyobaru was released, members on this forum had monthly GT5 time attack competitions requiring a stock 86. My skill improved hugely (I used to suck at GT5) and virtually driving my future car hard kept me sane for months, seriously! I think it helped keep everyone sane because the anticipation was running high. It was like channeling pent up energy from anxiously waiting over into competition. Not sure if the competition threads are still going now, though, but maybe it can pick back up for others who are in the same boat as you.

wrxgoose 01-08-2013 04:08 PM

i have to wait about 2 weeks. :( going to drive me nuts as well. fortunately it's only 2 weeks, not 8 months. that'd be horrible for me

both auto and manual are "6 speed" transmissions.

too many people making this mistake thinking 6spd means manual.

You're kidding me right? Do you ACTUALLY believe that there is ANYONE on this site that didn't understand PERFECTLY what I said? Or, for that matter that you are so much smarter than everyone here that you have to be the lone person that feels compelled to point out that both the auto and manual have 6 speed transmissions?????? And then you have the stones to put a /rant tag on your BS post??????

I fully appreciate good sarcasm but even with my extensive grasp of the English language I struggle to find a word that adequately describes your post and people like you that doesn't stray into the realm of profanity.

Congratulations Captain Obvious!

I know how you feel.

I think the 8 months is an over estimate though and you will get your car sooner.

Look on the bright side though. The longer you wait, the less problems you will have as they are more likely to have been fixed at the factory. :)
