damn, good luck. find a reputable body shop in your area for repair.

FR-S Matt 01-07-2013 06:02 PM

Hope you have insurance.... that's not going to be cheap. Sorry man. :(

Supermassive 01-07-2013 06:02 PM

Wow that is pure bullshit. I hope you can get it sorted quickly and at minimal expense. I think people who hit and run should have their hands cut off, so they can't drive anymore...lowest form of human beings in my opinion.

I would lose my mind if that happened to my car.

tech4pdx 01-07-2013 06:04 PM

Oh geez.. This makes me cringe. Sorry this happened to you. As far as parts, my recommendation would be to file a claim with your insurance and go get a repair estimate from your preferred body shop. The damage doesn't look terribly bad but it will probably be pricey. Hidden damage is what I always worry about..

tech4pdx 01-07-2013 06:05 PM

Oh and invest in a dashcam. It might help in the future. I'm getting one.

whaap 01-07-2013 06:14 PM

I am so sorry to see that. If you have collision insurance I'm sure, since you were parked at the time, that there would be no penalty against you for making a claim. Check with your agent.

Celica00 01-07-2013 06:16 PM

and the curse continues.

SubieNate 01-07-2013 06:16 PM

Should be covered under your collision/uninsured motorist insurance. If your car is financed you're required to have that anyway. Since you weren't even driving when it happened it definitely will not affect your rates. Did you file a police report?

Nathan

Darryljr11 01-07-2013 06:20 PM

use yelp.com and find a reputable body repair shop and go through insurance. You're not at fault so as long as you have full coverage you'll be fine.

mact 01-07-2013 06:24 PM

If I could turn back the hands of time an give you a Blackvue dash cam, I would. :(

What!!! Do you have pics of the limo?!

BTW sorry about the car man. That really sucks

kanundrum 01-07-2013 06:29 PM

Even though you used insurance a while back this is not your fault and this will not result in a policy increase or anything along the lines of that.

With that being said

www.trdsparks.com for parts

track1records 01-07-2013 06:40 PM

No i didnt file a police report bc of my insurance...i called 911 and the police came but they said if i file the report the will send it to dmv and then dmv will send it to my insurance and i didnt wanna use my insure

It's not so much the curse in this situation.
... He's not exactly in a nice area.

Anyway, Sorry this happened to you op! I hope you get things worked out! *hugs*

Mr.Jay 01-07-2013 06:57 PM

ouch! burtal damage

I was hoping for another one dash cam personal army cases

truenosan 01-07-2013 09:07 PM

I'm going to play the devils advocate here and point this out. Is there something else you aren't mentioning here? I understand you had an at-fault collision before. But this time around, it is a hit and run, and although I'm not familiar with how insurance works in your area, if you have the proper coverage, why wouldn't you let insurance cover it?

It shouldn't affect your premium, as hit and run's shouldn't.

And judging from the pictures you posted, that won't be exactly a cheap repair. Good chance of there being hidden damage once the shop starts taking things apart.

SkitterSkotter 01-07-2013 09:31 PM

Damn...seeing as the light is gone...ess no bueno. In all reality, it would probably cheaper to get a carbon hood/front fender and body kit front bumper. I would almost guarantee that those parts would be less than some new metal ones. You can fix it for sure...but it's not going to be easy.

Mo707 01-07-2013 09:39 PM

Wait so a dash cam stays running 24/7? Just to clarify here.

Theothanatologist 01-07-2013 09:56 PM

looks like the same front end damage i had when I hit bambi...my repair bill was $10,700

Some dashcams have a proximity sensor on them I believe. So upon impact, they will activate and turn on.

I've seen positive revues for the Blackvues. But I have never personally used one myself.

BlaineWasHere 01-07-2013 11:31 PM

Why do you even have insurance if you're not going to use it?

gymratter 01-07-2013 11:43 PM

Man that sucks, I would just go though insurance.

big mistake! try to get the police to file a report, and present it to the carrier!
you need "wallop" with this one! this NOT your fault!

motofan 01-08-2013 12:37 AM

Sorry to your car. It looks like $3000 to me. It surprises me a little bit to see your bumper cracked like that. In most cases stock bumper will not crack~~

Dezoris 01-08-2013 12:44 AM

It looks to be all cosmetic damage. However parts availability is scarce and only available at dealerships. Even if you get parts from Carson Toyota its going to cost you probably close to 2000$ unpainted.

nix 01-08-2013 12:54 AM

Hood + headlight are not going to be cheap!! Use your insurance. Sorry man that really sucks. They must have backed into you pretty damn hard.

LeeMaster 01-08-2013 01:10 AM

Looks like a 10 mph collision, which means that whoever backed up into your car must be either jealous of your new car, or someone got something against you. Sorry to see this bro, what a painful thing to see

jmaryt 01-08-2013 01:14 AM

yea! i would say this too! some sick f**k backed into him with a "rat!"
just sayin'

We need a dash cam megathread with several recommendations for different budgets.

I have a BlackVue Season 2 and I also have a Power Magic Pro integrated with it.

Both work together to regulate the time (how long you want it to stay on stand-by for) and voltage of the vehicle's battery that is remaining and cuts off when it reaches the threshold which you can set (turning the system down).

The BlackVue itself would stay on as it connects to a live ignition source and upon impact/motion (monitored by the g-sensors/accelerometers/motion sensors) the camera will start recording the incident.

Hope this helps.

Bluecille 01-08-2013 05:16 AM

Sorry about the bad luck. But you have it backwards, when you have an accident that is your fault you don't turn it in to your insurance and when you have an accident that isn't your fault you call those same people asap. Guess I am missing something here too. Keep us posted about the cost to repair.
