WOW! That definately looks like the FR-S but thats a great run in!

Snoopyalien24 11-30-2011 04:34 PM

Very very nice first post! It look pretty sweet de-badged lol. I don't like those headlights tho

2fast4you 11-30-2011 04:35 PM

Judging from the front, it's an FR-S with all of the logos covered. You can see the boxer piston logo on the fender. :happyanim:

Zaku 11-30-2011 04:36 PM

nice post bro look guys, 86 Pistons! on the side

ft86Fan 11-30-2011 04:37 PM

Yes, based on the front bumper it is the FRS. Very nice. Thanks for posting.

PAImportTuner 11-30-2011 04:40 PM

Looks more affordable. A good thing overall, but I'm sure the Scion guys wanted at least a mid-grade Toyota model.

No wing, no big tips, no led headlight, no 2-tone interior = $21xxx

Sparkplug 11-30-2011 04:41 PM

Yeah it looks great. Hope to hear some pricing info soon, though.

Oooo I hope not! That'd be a ripoff

Another OP with less than ten posts giving us juicy info about the cars...

Hmmmmm... I think Toyota is running the hype machine...:bonk:

But nevertheless :coolpics:

Didn't you see the posts about that? The 86 steering wheels are only on the Toyota GT86/86's.

Thanks OP for the recent photos! For a stock car, they have a huge wheel gap.

Digi 11-30-2011 05:39 PM

Seeing this in the Real World gives me hope I can fit in it!

rL-gT 11-30-2011 05:48 PM

Low Spec headlights... No LED DRLs for the US? FML
Fogs as an option...

Def gonna swap out the orange turn signal lens for the JDM clear ones.

ps. I Think I could live with out the LED DRLs..

No LEDs in those headlights...wonder if the Scion will have two trim levels...

Nope. It will be mono-spec as per it's other models. As I've said before, it'll probably be a mid-spec: leather steering wheel and shifters, AT paddles, cloth seats, no factory fogs (Scion accessory), no auto HVAC, and no HID.

That being said, we'll find out for real this evening.

Doesn't looked de-badged, just covered up badges. And being able to add in as "options" those things I do like about the GT86 to the FRS will be great, cause I don't like the Daytime LED strip in the GT86. I do like the BRZ version of that, but you can't swap headlights with the BRZ so...no LED strip for me.

Never know though really until I see it in person. In the pics it doesn't look good like the BRZ's version of headlight LEDs.

sikse7en 11-30-2011 06:08 PM

probably from toyota around long beach/ gardena area. definitely a 86 but no LEDs... i want the BRZ headlights now

Huh? the parts wont be interchangeable? :(

BTW, at what time is the reveal today? and will it be private? (i only ask because i'm wondering if people are going to legitimately be able to take pictures, not sneaking around)

BRZ's headlights are shaped differently at the corners near the nose. If you swap then you will be swapping the entire bumper as well, which I don't like the BRZ front bumper over the FRS.

And how can you be certain of this?

Great spotting! Ohhh to live in SoCal

Kiteless 11-30-2011 06:19 PM

Great find.. Great looking car. I agree the headlights look a bit cheaper than what we are seeing on the showroom floor at TMS. But I actually like the daytime lamps that aren't headlights. I know call me weird. REALLY hope they announce some US pricing in LA today, but I know it is a pipe dream.

If it has not HID or LED in the headlights or somewhere near like in the BRZ...I am out...going to Subaru...The HIDS and LEDs are what makes the car....unless this car is in the low 20k range...the pictures shown just makes it look cheap...

This is going to suck if the headlights suck on the FRS...so far all the headlights are cool on the other two models..

Don't mess this up Scion!

:mad0260:

MiguelAE86 11-30-2011 06:24 PM

Honestly, i don't care if this car comes with Cloth seats, cheap radio (as long as there is an AUX plug, i don't care what i get), no LEDs, no Nav, no nothing but usable rear-seats and whatever is seen here, i don't even care if it comes in steelies.

why? My favorite car is the AE86, now, i have sentimental attatchment to that car, and this car, is already WAY better than the AE86 (in terms of being new, fun just like the AE86, etc.) so, if i would ask for anything else, i would pretty much be asking too much :D

You know what? Maybe they will...two totally different loaded trim levels...that does not going against the the way they roll....Kinda how the RS Level of the tC is sold...

I want factory HIDS....this is 2013 yall! Any car over 20k should have standard HIDS!!!

And LED daytime running lights are just plain cool...BRZ cooler...

Did you look at the close up pics of the headlights in the FRS vs BRZ poll thread?

Until it's been officially validated, checking the first page doesn't me squat.

I'm guessing, but not hoping, that the light strip will only be on the JDM/EDM models. Luckily I have a connect in Japan who can get me OEM items without the markup.

tripjammer 11-30-2011 06:32 PM

You know toyota can't screw up the FRS, since we can't get the 86 here (including our Canadian friends). Why make it crappier? Why make us go to Subaru?

The BRZ is pretty much identical to the 86 and so will the FRS....hell we will find out in a few hours...

Get me those lights, but it is going to be expensive...it has hids and leds in it..:mad0259:

Cheap ass bulbs for driving lights sucks...

Dragonitti 11-30-2011 06:34 PM

Let me clarify...I didn't say it wouldn't be swappable with the JDM version. Only that the BRZ headlight is shaped differently than the GT86. And Since the GT86 is the JDM version of the FRS, it will/should have the same headlight housing as the GT86, not the BRZ.
