Please read before you make another post.

Hey as you can tell im new here. I dont post alot but i do a lot of reading because like many of you i have the mod bug. I have almost 2k miles on my black frs and can only think about what im going to do to my car next. I love this car, and these forums are cool, but im sick of people trolling around complaining about all the potential things that can go wrong with this car. YES we know its a first gen, YES we know it has issues, but if you dont like it GET OUT!!! This car is amazing, and I LOVE my ECU crickets. So please if you are considering buying an frs do it, or go complain somewhere else.

Yruyur 12-20-2012 11:06 PM

Then again everyone has their opinions and posts on the forum. You will always have haters , trolls then people like us that love the car. I guess its what makes a forum.

You have ECU crickets?

Grateful Dave 12-20-2012 11:42 PM

I like my crickets. I take them fishing for German Brown Trout in the Sierra's.
I love my AT FR-S also It takes me where ever I go. I love every minute of it, even in LA rush hour traffic. It took me 2 hours and 50 minutes to go 60 miles to get home tonight. :bonk:

jflogerzi 12-20-2012 11:54 PM

Best bang for your buck to add WHP/WTQ is an ECU Flash. Total is under 1K and should net you around a boost in WHP around 15 or so. Read up on it in the ECU sub forum.

wheelhaus 12-20-2012 11:55 PM

People who are unhappy about something will typically try to tell everyone about it, and the internet is a magnet for it.

I have yet to experience ANY of the problems I should have by now at 3,000 miles. No cooked diffs, no crickets, no built in massager - er, I mean idle dip, no christmas lights on the dash... nothing... I am disappoint. :(

I mean, I'm supposed to be mad at this car for all it's potential that Toyota and Subaru couldn't get it right? Screaming for reimbursement for my precious time?

Or, does this just mean that I should start bitching and whining that my BRZ isn't the shitbox full of TSB's and warranty issues I was expecting it to be... Yeah, I'm gonna go start a rant thread because it's the internet and I have the right to be angry and tell everyone I don't know all about how butthurt I am... grr.

Sorry, but you happen to be on an internet forum. There is no rule that we have agree with you or love a car that we just dumped 30k on. Sorry.

The car is good. But it's neither a great car nor a future classic. Just another good car like the MR2 was some years ago. You can see how far that got Toyota last time?

Let's look back in three or four years and see if the Toyobaru brilliant intro marketing turns into sales substance?

Good to hear that you are enjoying your car, they do handle brilliantly don't they? Everything else is open to speculation and opinion.

LOL. Funny post OP!

If you're happy post away but if you're unhappy we don't want to hear from you and want you to either keep it to yourself or just go away.

I agree 100%, I don't own an FRS yet but geez

that_one_guy 12-21-2012 07:18 AM

seriously bdanisi, im so tired of everyone complaining, i wish i had thought to make a new thread complaining about all of the complaining like u did. at least you were smart about it and made an ambiguous title so nobody knew you were complaining, unlike those morons with CEL issues who make descriptive titles so people like you and me who don't want to read complaints can simply NOT CLICK ON THEM.

Yes, living in the city, I don't get to hear crickets a alot at night when sleeping. I find the ECU crickets from my engine block rather soothing.

DarkSunrise 12-21-2012 09:28 AM

As always, the few who complain will usually be louder than the majority who are quietly enjoying their cars. And of the few complaining, only about half actually own the car from what I've seen. The rest are basing their complaints on hearsay or what they read on the internet.

The twins are amazing drivers' cars for the price. The multi-page list of COTY awards and the lop-sided track comparisons they're routinely throw into (FR-S vs. Cayman S, BRZ vs. [insert Porsche/Lotus/other expensive sports car], etc.) are proof of that. I haven't seen a giant-slayer like this car in a long time, maybe ever.

Yeah there are way more than a few big whiners on this forun IMHO. Too bad you cant tick a little checkmark and put people into your whiners list. However, I do find it amusing reading some of these people's posts despite the impression they are giving newbies that this car is an Edsel or something. Personally I love my FR-S, although had I known a little more beforehand I'd probably have spent more and bought the upper trim Subaru. Now, I'm just spending the difference on add-ons, something I have NEVER done with a previous vehicle.

Agree to disagree. Cars that are simply good do not get the accolades this car has received. And don't tell me EVERYONE in journalism has been bribed or some other such nonsense.

It's a great car. A great car with some teething issues, but a great car none the less. I doubt the mr2 received anywhere near the same level of praise or sales numbers it's first year.

Cheers
Nathan

Yeah but that would take away all the fun.

I just feel bad for quite a few people on the forum that said they fully intended to order the car and decided not to as a result of all the reported problems.

Glad I bought before joining the forum and didn't let the small percentage of naysayers cloud my judgement.

Who, the OP?

I is on the interwebz fo a long long time not so I dun thunk you is talking bout me.

neutron256 12-21-2012 12:52 PM

So we're only supposed to say good stuff about our cars on here?

Let's not be jackasses but I love when people point out problems, because it often leads to simple but not obvious solutions.

My favorite is the rear deck popping noise which I found out I can fix with a tiny bit spray of lubricant in the right spots.

Dezoris 12-21-2012 12:53 PM

They say the speed of a cricket's chirp (in the ECU) determines the HP of the vehicle.

I love this car and I pity anyone dumb enough to not buy it because they are scared of a few minor issues. I'll be around the forums more later but for now I'm just driving around everywhere. You don't own this car yet you belong to and frs owners forum. Hahaha you mad???

alan.chalkley 12-22-2012 04:01 AM

I am glad that ppl have shared their problems with the car and I will write a checklist to inspect mine for common problems when I pick it up from the dealer.
I am even more glad that even more ppl have shared their joy of driving the 86/frs/brz and am sure that I will too.

Taking my mine in for tailight replacement tomorrow and need to ask them about this but if some WD40 fixes it i'd rather them not mess with it.

Do you know what a giant slayer is in the car world? I don't think you do. It's when a a cheaper car in the class of other overpriced cars simply embarrasses those cars on a track for a lot less money. I have never seen the FRS/BRZ do that yet and as a matter of fact they have lost every time against other cars when it comes to track times. Now if you meant a slayer in "FEEL" then that's a different story. Also the GT-R and Corvette slay much more expensive cars in there class. The Mustang GT 5.0 Sport Pkg matched a E92 M3 on track. The 370Z also plays the same role with the Cayman.

Thank you Captain Obvious. Way to put up a strawman argument and waste your time arguing against yourself. Instead of posting, if you took that time to actually read any of the comparisons I cited to, you would have understood the point of what I was saying.

Why so emotional? I just pointed out you was using the term differently to the norm. This is by far the most defensive site I have been on

Thats not a nice way of including highly potential future owners..

Most Moderators here don't even own the car. We are all (at least 99% of us) here because we like the cars. No need to exclude people.

I would just like to thank all people in the past who complained about stuff when they bought cars in the past. It made the cars better in the end.
I will also thank everybody who goes to the dealerships and complain about stuff that is bad. I will also thank people who work together on this forum with the stuff that needs to be fixed. Finding solutions. Giving people faith that they are not alone, and when the dealerships says. "Never heard if it" You can say, well, here are 150+ people with the same issue.. People talking about issues are a way of making progress and making the car better for everybody.

From my point of view. I have seen several owners raising issues with their cars. Its not the same as spreading negativity on this forum. In threads like that, you often see other owners spreading negativity towards OP. Those are the people ruining a thread.
Lets just include most people and try our best to be polite.. We cant all have the same opinions. If people say something bad about the car in general, remember, its their opinion on the car. Not a personal attack on the owner.

The crickets try to find warmer places when the temps get that low. If you think ecu and tail light cricket infestations are bad then hope that you never get a case of crotch crickets.
