BRZ PRICE

The BRZ Premium will cost about the same as a base Impreza WRX from:

Article also says it will have around 205 HP in America, and the Subaru will have different suspension tuning than the Toyota.

phenoyz 11-30-2011 12:31 AM

Thanks for the post.
diff suspension than FRS? does it mean better than its counterpart?

damn...the BRZ STi...its the MAN...but i cant wait any longer

Ryephile 11-30-2011 12:40 AM

I don't see any mention of 205 HP anywhere in that article.

Impreza WRZ MSRP is $25,595.

Subaru wasn't clear on pricing or features for the BRZ Limited, but it's safe to assume it will come standard with extras that are optional on the BRZ Premium, like the leather-Alcantara seats, foglights, dual-auto HVAC controls, keyless access, and pushbutton start.

They can keep the stupid useless overpriced Nav in the Premium trim, but the rest of the gizmos I want.

Agreed. I don't want no nav. I want the nice sports seats though. :)

Dittooooo~~

Just want sports seats. REGULAR RADIO and everything else. Navi easily is another $2k.

Smart phones. Are sometimes smart.

subatoy 11-30-2011 12:58 AM

I'm not happy with that price.
This car needs to be no more than $23k OTD!

Sure. I would take that over the nav if premium price stayed the same.

They mention it at the end of the second paragraph.

"Subaru reps told us the North American-spec BRZ will pack seven or eight horsepower more than the European version."

Snoopyalien24 11-30-2011 01:03 AM

The Impreza does start @ $17,495

Motortrend specifically says WRX.....but who knows if that is right.

Eureka 11-30-2011 01:21 AM

So.. won't this make it compete with the more powerful, AWD, WRX?

Zaku 11-30-2011 01:24 AM

well the WRX I think is being redesigned and is going up scale... althought I recalled seeing some WRX info today. Something called a g4 let me go look for it.

subaruslow 11-30-2011 01:38 AM

doesn't make sense, there's suppose to be brembos available right away wtfffffffff!

Exactly how I feel. But, when I reviewed current 2012 models like the Scion tC ($19,300) and the Miata ($23,300) and the WRX as mentioned ($25,600), the FR-S/BRZ really needs to be right around $20,000-21,000 for me.

It's a hard one cause I would rather have this car than a WRX, but for $25,600, the 2012 WRX is a lot of car. 265hp (under rated), awd, turbo power potential and more room... I mean, I drive a 2002 WRX right now and love it. But, I want a more light weight, naturally aspirated car with FR drive feel/handling. The WRX understeers like a snow plow.

MrVito 11-30-2011 02:21 AM

I'm a Nissan buyer first, Subaru Second, and everything else thereafter. If the Subaru version really does break $25k USD, and the Scion is less expensive, I'll buy the Scion, if only for the principle of it. That or a 04-7 STi/I.

JohnnyR 11-30-2011 02:26 AM

So $26k-27k for the premium, and $28k-30k for the limited? Wow, someone's going to get fired here for how poorly this car's development was handled. Much higher weight, and much higher pricetag than intended. It's a shame too, I think many people were really excited for this car.

Brembos? Why? For the mad amounts of power and heavy weight it's going to have? The stock brakes with good pads will be plenty sufficient.

That sounds about right... That is if the Premium comes with stuff like NAV and other fancy bits.

It looks like the Subaru is going to be the "upscale" version. I'll have to buy a Scion and change the bumpers :(

nrclptcnsmniak 11-30-2011 03:30 AM

^ I hope not :/ 27k :/. I guess its more speculation until the Detroit Auto Show on US pricing. Why cant all the info be released Subaru!! I cant wait to test drive this car though. ^_^ And nice sport seats would be a great addition ^_^

lancie 11-30-2011 04:13 AM

in italy wrx cost 42000 euro...

Lordharding 11-30-2011 06:24 AM

STi in uk £33000 uk pounds
Wrx used to be £22000 but was discontinued 18 months ago
Wrxd was £25000 and discontinued also
Yen exchange rate as killed it for sales in uk
The STi was only £26000 when it as brought out in 2008

Dragonitti 11-30-2011 02:14 PM

At 2770lbs? Closer to 2800lbs...needs to be lighter.

So "limited" model is above "premium" model.

Jeris@CatoMoto 11-30-2011 02:42 PM

Interesting, does seem a bit pricy considering the specs.

Ak1m0to 11-30-2011 02:45 PM

I think Subaru needs to add a turbo to give it a higher price point.

mines13 11-30-2011 02:45 PM

Very happy with the pricing, will be purchasing. Pretty much what I expected, what I was not expecting was HID and Nav with Ipod in the base car... 27ish for a loaded car is very reasonable too. Similarly equipped MX-5 would be a bit dearer then this price wise. Nicely done, Subaru.

KevinDuMa 12-01-2011 03:40 AM

I'm praying this car won't break past $25,000 without the nav

If this car breaks.. $25k...

That poses an issue.

Moar student loans? >__> I mean med school's like nothing when you compare it to the car...

Med School + Social life-ish + Food + HOUSING? Ya crazy....

Plan on dropping a fat 13-15k DP for the car.. but I might wait it out just to see how the zombie apocalypse will go and if loans won't kill me in the long run.. we'll see. Lol

And job market. Can't forget that!

MrBRZ 12-01-2011 04:05 AM

I'm going to guestimate here myself:

FRS - 22k starting with plenty of upgrade options because that's what scion does. Any lower of a price there would be no reason for people to buy a TC.

BRZ base - 23k
BRZ premium - 25k
BRZ limited - 26k

Any higher of a price and Subaru starts competing with the WRX, which is faster and better on the twisties.

nrclptcnsmniak 12-01-2011 04:24 AM

^ I cant wait to see this car compete with the impreza wrx. I think if the BRZ has a good driver it can take the wrx in the twisties. Maybe not uphill though :P

25k sounds good to me ^_^ Id be putting around 12k down as well. But wont buy until 2013.

Longhorn248 12-01-2011 04:26 AM

I'm hoping for $25-26 with HID and maybe nav...? Anything over that and I'll probably be looking for something else, or just waiting a while.

Really? You honestly think a stock WRX will take a BRZ in the Twisties...

... social life? ... in... med school? >_> *coughs* lol

But yeah, time will tell. Not sure if I want to drop more money in the deposit initially or if I can do anything with the cash before hand.

And... for job market after med school? Shouldn't be that bad lol

To stay on topic, hmmm I really want to see what the base price BRZ would be and I would like it coupled with well the climate control and a push button start (it just seems nifty to me lol). Other than that, I don't quite care for the navigation, heated seats, etc.

I'll be shocked if the base Subaru is less than $25k in the USA.... so about $33000 Canadian.

According to MotorTrend's source, there won't be a BRZ base, just Premium (Nav, HID's) and Limited models (Premium stuff + Leather). They're reporting that the BRZ Premium will start around the same price as the base WRX ($25,595).

Zaku 12-01-2011 02:09 PM

I Imagine having a base would interfere too much with the SCION sales now that I think about it. Still I wish that there was a Base for us who just want the bare BRZ, because not all of us like the SCION and we're true Subaru fan or want to become part of the Subaru family.

One thing I will not do like when I got my car when I was getting my bachelors is doing a 0 down, that really bites you in the ass if you don't have a good interest rate. I got moderate with a 8% rate. ~ ~

Now that I have grad school looming over after I finish my second bachelors This Car will either be my grad present to myself or just another big ticket item causing me to enter grad school later.
