Haha. Sucks for those in the back seat. :(

YeloFva 11-29-2011 09:03 PM

Cool, they put a shift light on the tach just like in the STI. I wonder if I could swap the steering wheel into my STI?

And that color is the infamous World Rally Blue, not Plasma Blue (which is more like a blue-ish purple).

Also, another thing I noticed (not sure if this has been mentioned), but they placed the engine so low that they had to move the oil filer up top. I read somewhere that they also shortend the oil pan and made it a bit wider compared to the EJ series engine. Pretty cool

Zaku 11-29-2011 09:13 PM

That's not Plasma blue that WRCII blue XD Thank you for all the picts

RRnold 11-29-2011 09:20 PM

The interior looks like a typical Subaru interior (bland). If that is what it's going to look like, I can't see how the BRZ will be more expensive than the FRS?!?

To Subaru look cheaper than the Scion.

JoeJoseJoseph 11-29-2011 09:20 PM

Niice... if i buy the BRZ over FRS, it'll be for the Rally blue! Mechanically as far as we know they are exactly same, righT?

Spaceywilly 11-29-2011 09:24 PM

I just blue myself

[/arrested development reference]

In the interior shoot, Front seats were pushed far back, no wonder the rear leg room is small.

Edit: Cut the black front piece 2/3 out and replace the front grill, it will look like BRZ GT300. :D
Hopefully, aftermarket will take care of that.

Jah1mon 11-29-2011 09:35 PM

damn that engine bay is cramped wait until you guys have to change valve cover gaskets and spark plugs.

KevinDuMa 11-29-2011 09:39 PM

I think the interior has a more grown up look to it...I thought for sure I was going with the Toyota/Scion but man it's going to be a really tough choice.

The filter is also up top in the new Forester and Impreza engines. First time I saw that about a year ago, I figured it was for ease of maintenance.

Yeah I was thinking the same. Hmmmmmm. Lets go Subaru, beat the Toyota/Scion on pricing!

"Grown Up" is the best words to describe the interior to me.

It is going to be a tough choice, but that interior might make me overlook the 8 lb bar of plastic hanging off the front of the bumper...

Lordharding 11-29-2011 11:01 PM

I want I want I want

Lordharding 11-29-2011 11:08 PM

So far it looks like the only only one getting a name change is the FT-86 to GT-86
That ticks me off a little, something about FT-86 just sounds offical and GT-86 just sound like trying to hard to be cool.
With any luck the BRZ and the FRS wont get a lame name change.

Side note :thanks: for the great pics!:coolpics:
Now I just got to pick which one to put on my backgrond :mad0259:

Hopefully that is with the seat all the way back for like a six foot whatever passenger instead people of more average ergonomics?

Ricepuddin 11-30-2011 02:36 AM

wonder if those seats will mount easily into my WRX... Future DD once the WRX is payed off

jonnois 11-30-2011 03:21 AM

i definately like the front end better on the toyota its more agressive/sporty, the brz's front looks kinda reserved

goopi 11-30-2011 03:27 AM

At least it has back seats, it'll bring down insurance rates a little bit.

Allch Chcar 11-30-2011 03:41 AM

These desktop images are so awesome. If I didn't already have a picture of the Toyota+Subaru squidcap, I would put one of the actual car.

Back seat passengers must assume the fetal position. Or scoot the pilot/co-pilot seats forward.

Should be easy enough. With any luck passengers can lounge their feet over the cup holders. Not exactly practical for driving but at least they aren't completely vestigal back seats. :iono:

It looks like its all they way back to me. I'm 6 foot and I like my seat closer than most shorter people for performance driving, so there would be enough room for a kid back there.

85YotaMan 11-30-2011 12:19 PM

GREAT PICS!

Why so much discussion about the BACK seats?! You plan on buying this car to ride around 4-deep... F-that. Rip that shit out and cage it up! :D

Thanks for the LARGE pics :happy0180:

ZetaVI 11-30-2011 01:51 PM

I can see ppl liking the more aggressive looking FR-S and I thought the BR-Z needed to be also but I think it is better with a more reserved and casual look.

The BRZ looks way better than the FRS...but the Toyota 86 is still king.

So Toyota 86 then BRZ then FRS.

Me? I am going BRZ since I live in the USA.

I feel the same way and since I'm up in Canada I guess I'll be getting the BRZ now, as well. I'm a stickler for a nice interior. If putting up with that front end until a proper aftermarket bumper comes out is the only way to get what I want - so be it.

consider me converted...for now.

Thoughts: I wonder if the rebar hugs the bumper so tightly as to require the plastic cover, or is it just for show. The Toyota bumper hides the rebar nicely with just a grill. potential simple fix, maybe? I guess the only way to know is to measure the lengths of the bumpers and see if ones longer.
