Lexus IS-F hits my car, leaves (car cam video)

Hopefully my insurance company will be able to track this one down:

Anyone else agree with my take on their plate?

Zgrinch 12-16-2012 09:35 AM

I'm sure your insurance will be able to find the jerk. Sorry it happened to you but the cost of the dash cam will more than pay for itself now.

After seeing this thread and another one where the owner had some dealership service bozo drive his frs like a Richard Petty wannabe..I'm thinking I need to invest in a dash cam.

OP..Which one do you have?

For everyone else, I'm sure there are tons of threads, but which 1 or 2 dash cams rank the best in your opinion.

I had the Blackvue 400hd which died by heat failure, wonderful camera but the heat problems are bad.

This was filmed with the ITB 100HD which I find slightly better than the blackvue and so far no problems.

BRZranger 12-16-2012 09:38 AM

Recording this is one reason I love my blackvue (v2).

File a police report, they will probably get a close match on the plate, color, make and model (if they're not too busy/lazy). That way, if they may be able to contact the owner and get insurance info or do a criminal investigation.

Insurance probably won't do too much investigating unless the car is ID'd.

jesperswe 12-16-2012 10:13 AM

Might get myself a cam for this purpose to, already had someone bump into my car and just drive away when it was overnight parked :(

nktech 12-16-2012 11:09 AM

Looks like a blue Lexus IS rather than a Camry btw.

nix 12-16-2012 11:28 AM

WTF was he trying to do in the first place?

Kind of a shame it doesn't save the recording earlier from the impact than it did, makes it a lot harder to ID those left side characters.

PS. Sorry man that sucks. :(

I think the twins are invisible to idiots. It looked like he was trying to parallel park right into the spot where the ops car is.

That's what I was thinking too. Did the cam not record before then? I'd contact the police right away too.

I had someone try to do this same thing to me in daylight. Luckily I was in the car and was able to start the engine and backup.

IloveBaldEagles 12-16-2012 12:00 PM

That's a 2012 Camry.

No it's not. It's a pre-2009 IS. If fact, I'm almost positive it's an IS-F.

4U-GSE 12-16-2012 12:35 PM

You should file a police report. At least in Pennsylvania the person could be charged with accidents involving damage to unattended vehicles. The important thing for you would be that if the person were convicted or plead guilty he would have to pay restitution for the damage he did. :paddle:

Asphalt~86 12-16-2012 12:50 PM

It's 100% an IS-F.

Droptop 12-16-2012 12:55 PM

Agree is-f. Sorry op.

powerj2 12-16-2012 01:17 PM

i immediately thought it was an is vehicle but good eyes guys hopefully he gets caught

Exhaust 12-16-2012 01:43 PM

Should I venture into the 4chan realm to help you bust this jabroni? >:)

zenki_levin 12-16-2012 01:50 PM

^^Not your personal army.

What was that guy trying to do, there wasn't a parking space so why was he reversing?

Honestly it looked like he was trying to parallel into that spot, must have missed seeing the FRS.

Slick 12-16-2012 02:40 PM

Good job. Saw the same thing. What did it for me was the vertical slit behind the front wheels.

OP, get that sumbich...

Evidence of it being an Utrasonic Blue IS-F.

1. Notice the extended side sills.
2. Notice the opening on the front fender
3. The shape of the rear plate area
4. LED plate lights
5. Obvious color (ultrasonic blue)
6. Direction of the rear lights (slightly angled up towards the side)
7. Reverse light placement
8. Obvious c-pillar window angled up (can't see in this screen cap)

asswipes can see me! ehe! he! he! don't matter much at night,so i got another color!

Knightmare 12-16-2012 03:32 PM

Just goes to show that just because you own a nice car doesn't mean you can drive. I can't believe he was trying to squeeze in there, it seems like there's no room at all in front of you. Hopefully he gets a "surprise" ticket or phone call telling him he owes some money, what a jack @ss

Lonewolf 12-16-2012 04:26 PM

Change your vehicle description on youtube...

It's absolutely amazing how many people can't parallel park.

Based on the time stamp, I'd say "must have been too drunk to see the FRS" is more accurate.

Bristecom 12-16-2012 05:51 PM

Don't those IS F's have backup cameras too? Or maybe it was optional and they didn't have one. Still... how did they not see your car? And you'd think someone in a luxury performance car would be more careful. Anyway, glad you got it recorded. At least you're being responsible and looking out for yourself.

Guff 12-16-2012 05:58 PM

Maybe the ISF was jealous of the FRS, because it now gets all the attention from their Daddy Toyota. Just Sibling rivalry gone too far. :'(

WolfsFang 12-16-2012 06:05 PM

Where in NJ was this? Im in north, so if this was around there i shall keep my eye out with a bat in my pass seat.

BRZnut 12-16-2012 06:13 PM

just go to the police with the video and the info that you have. Hit and run is a crime!

RidetheTran 12-16-2012 06:27 PM

And yeah, that's a Lexus OP. My bestfriend has it in red!

dashcam

Your dashcam works while the car is parked? Powered by battery?

Celica00 12-16-2012 06:42 PM

got a pic of the damage to your car?

cgrey 12-16-2012 06:48 PM

Thanks guys! I'll be online in a bit to answer ?s and post the damage. Great catch on the is and somehow I think your screen cap is clearer to read than mine.

I love watching people do this.
I get a good laugh every time.
(not at them hitting other cars! But struggling to do something so simple)

Only explanation I can imagine. Considering the time, and area, he was probably very drunk.
