Coffee table I made from my FRS OEM springs

Hey guys, I had Tein Springs put on my car straight from the dealer and they gave me my OEM springs. So i decided to make a coffee table from it. Total came to roughly $81.

Hardware-$25
Wood-$25
Glass-$25
Rods-$6

Cool! I can picture my cat lying on the wooden parts.

The heavy part of wood is lying on the ground, so the center of gravity of this coffee table stays low, to the spirit of 86. Great design work!!

One question, does the table tilt or bounce if you press on the edge of the table?

Awesomenessss!!!

Next question, at parties do you replace the glass with a flat piece of wood and see who can surf the longest?

Its a heave piece of glass so it doesnt budge but it only wobbles a little bit if you actually try to shake it because of the actual springs. But the sprins are secured very well to the wood and the glass just sits on top.

I have not had any parties yet since I just finished this today. But i do have a christmas party at my place next Friday. Its low key but the table will come in handy for people to put drinks down and what not considering we had nothing in the living room for stuff like that.

^ I like the surfing idea: change your table into some entertainment device without electricity!!

I wonder if there will be someone who will sit on that table and flip all the drinks... (finger crossed).

Haha i hope not...Its not like a wooden table or something that is solid and its pretty obvious the glass is just sitting on top.

Nitpicking here, but you really have to include the cost of the tein springs in the build, since you wouldn't have those springs without em :D

Also, I think that's my laptop.

not really. the tein springs were going on regardless. he put something to use that most people end up throwing away. its a really classy piece that makes swapping out stuff on a brand new car almost justifiable.

Well...I originally was going to use my dads 04 Cavalier springs since he decided to get his struts/springs replaced but I couldnt get the strut top loose and the springs were in worse condition, obviously after 150k miles. Then I figured I wont go back to stock anytime soon, and if I do I will just buy someone else's considering there are a million "stock suspension" for sale threads.

And thats my company laptop its an HP EliteBook 8440p

Yeah I have an extended battery too, I have had it for about 2 years and showing some wear as far as battery life, but I still get about a good 7 hours out of the laptop

Here is a few more pictures of the detail. The front springs are 1 inch longer than the rear so I went to Menards and walked around aimlessly until I walked past the wood decor section. They had 5 1/2 x 1" decrative wood plates that worked perfectly as i just used the back side anyways. Then I used some 3/8" connectors to screw in the springs. The 6x6 wood beams are stained with an ebony stain and the plates were spraypainted(the stain wasnt taking well with the wood plates).

The rods going through are 7/16" with matching nuts and washers.
