Longest Roadtrip

K, I was commenting on FB about longest road trips. I wanna hear what's everyone's longest road trip (driving or biking) you ever did.

My longest one is UT to LA of 12hrs.

My friend, she did UT to New Orleans of 34hrs.

2 days straight?

Jayde 12-12-2012 06:26 PM

Longest roadtrip... hmm.

I think it was my area to Cape May, NJ. Google maps says it's 230 miles and almost 4 hours.

Yeah, not that long of a trip.

Miniata 12-12-2012 06:27 PM

6300 miles over the course of two weeks. Two years ago we took a family trip (two kids, wife, myself) in our Forester XT from Ohio to SoCal via Route 66 much of the way, stopping in Vegas along the way, then we drove up the coast into Oregon on US1/101/PCH, on up into Washington, then made the return leg of the trip home from Oregon straight through, 37 hours driving straight (I did all but about 4 hours of those 37 hours driving).

We roadtrip to Florida 2 to 3 times a year, 2500 mile round trip. We've done quite a few other trips of 3-4000 miles as well. I'll always rather drive than fly.

GA to Monte Vista, CO. 24 hours.

I was in highschool and went on a 2 week hunting trip.

Did two weeks worth of homework while driving through Texas on the way back lol.

My longest solo roadtrip: Milwaukee, WI to Miami, FL (1,475 miles) in 19 hours 47 minutes.

Shagaliscious 12-12-2012 08:33 PM

Drove down to Atlanta Georgia, about 13-14 hours. On the way back we stopped in Kentucky, that was a good 18 hours on the road with that stop. Thankfully I didn't have to do all of the driving.

Already shared this on the FB discussion, but last year I made a 26 hour drive to Nebraska from VA. It was my boyfriend and I in his E90 and he didn't allow us to stop for food or anything really. Just like 3-4 fill-ups at the gas station and straight driving. He wouldn't even let me have more than one beverage because he didn't want me to have to stop to use the restroom. haha. The drive back seemed like it took even longer. It was one of the best road trips ever though because of all that bonding time that we were stuck in the car together for.

Oh and usually I tend to feel pretty motion sick on road trips, but the ride in that car was always so nice that I was fine the whole time :)

monkie 12-13-2012 01:16 AM

So far longest has been 1574 km or 978 miles over 4 days

Wife and I might have to do an epic one of 3585 km or 2,227 Miles over three days in February as moving State

Of course there wasn't much traffic. Who in right mind who want to go to UTAH?!?!?! :bellyroll: :bellyroll: :bellyroll:

fatoni 12-13-2012 01:54 AM

so cal to n. carolina coast to coast. i dont remember how long that took us. my family regularly runs the length of california because my sister lives there. in fact she has been back and forth 3 times in 3 weeks. up until thursday i spent 3 hours commuting to school and back. that kinda counts.

serialk11r 12-13-2012 01:56 AM

Hmmm 10 hours, from South Bay down to the San Diego area. I drove the last 8 nonstop. Going down I5 put me in a trance like state, several hundred miles of completely straight road and nothing in sight, wind noise never stopped being annoying though. I don't want to think about how many hearing cells I will have left if I tried to make that trip in my car.

My parents said 20 some years ago they drove from Minnesota to DC in 1 go...managed to roll the car into a bank of snow too :P

Lancaster, PA to Santa Monica, CA. Just me and the open road.

Then I flew to Arizona, bought a car, and drove from Tucson, AZ to Savannah, GA.

Driving straight-through with limited breaks, no thanks! Slow it down and enjoy the scenery.

PS None of us come close to Emil & Liliana. 28 years, 415k miles, and still going! www.weltrekordreise.ch

I do! I've been to all 48 contiguious states, and Utah was one of the biggest surprises for me. I was expecting it to be rather dull and boring, but I was just blown away when we drove through Moab and surrounding areas. Can't wait to go back.

My longest trip was in 1975 when my wife and I moved from Detroit to San Diego. I drove one car towing our other car behind me. I don't remember how long it took. A few days later my wife flew out with our cat. Life is an adventure.

A few years ago I drove from San Marcos, TX to Green Bay, WI to see my Cowboys play the Packers at Lambeau. right at about 2800 mi round trip.

....we lost.

jstn 12-13-2012 01:37 PM

I've done Orlando to Chicago solo non-stop a couple of times. About 20-24 hours depending on when you leave and which route you take. I really hate stopping halfway through a trip (makes it feel like it takes weeks).

wrxgoose 12-13-2012 02:05 PM

NY -> Utah (southern route) took us 2 weeks. i was...7, and we were helping my sister get her stuff out to the univeristy of utah. first time i read jurassic park, and we did the tourist thingy.

also: did CT -> NC in 9 hours. and refilled in MD, and made it all the way to charlotte on one tank of gas with enough left over to probably reach columbia

Top 3 longsst road trips for me would have to be (not including Europe)...

1. Massachusetts to Florida
2. Massachusetts to South Carolina
3. Massachusetts to Virginia

This summer (mid-May) I drove with my father from upstate NY to Los Angeles in roughly three days (didn't really keep track of the hours, though).

Background: I was transferring from my college in NY to a SoCal one (moving back closer to home), so after finishing spring semester I hauled my stuff back to CA and made a road-trip out of it.

I'm not really a very fun person to road-trip with though... I'm really too focused on efficiency and covering as much distance as possible. That means minimal bathroom breaks ._.

DAYUM! What car did you take?

gmookher 12-14-2012 06:22 AM

Joisey to Seattle

Sparkplug 12-14-2012 08:23 AM

Drove from NJ to Jackson, WY one winter break in college to be a ski bum. I think it was 2500 miles each way.

I took the A8 - a MUCH more comfortable car at speed. However in the middle of Texas the aircon was too cold and the air too humid, so it literally froze up.

Yeah, Audi A8 would be good road trip car. Big enough & comfortable

Go Pack!!! (Sorry, had to do it)

My longest trip was across the country. 5,469 miles total. Hit every major city/site along the way. Took 10 days.

kanundrum 12-14-2012 03:06 PM

Ive done a few long road trips but best was Venice, Italy to Imola, Italy, to Ancona, Italy, to Rome

b.e 12-14-2012 03:42 PM

Yosemite, CA, to Utah, 14 hours. Took Nevada back roads which I had almost exclusively to myself. Took more time than I-15 but WAY more fun.
