Ordered GTS in late November - 4 Month Wait?
Hey guys,
I ordered my Automatic GTS in late November and my dealer informed me that it was a 4 month wait. I asked him at the time if he was sure that was correct, as I had heard of waiting times around the 6 months+ time frame. He was addiment that extra stock was given to Toyota Australia (1500 cars) over November/December/January to clear the back log of cars we currently have, so new orders dont need to wait anywhere near as long. Is that logic sound? Or is the dealer confused? I dont mind waiting for the car (it gives me more time to save, and that means less money I need to borrow...) But I would still like a clear indication of when it would arrive. What are peoples thoughts?:sigh: |
Yes a higher allocation of cars was given to Australia from the factory. The first extra batch of vehicles was in the same equal ratio of GT vs GTS vs Auto vs Manual etc.. The extra allocation received for the the first quarter of 2013 has a higher mix of GTS spec over GT and a higher mix of Manuals.
It is impossible to predict though exactly how much it has changed the overall wait time, as it may not be possible to get the colour you wanted built in a particular production run. My car was expected to be a February build, but was then pulled back into December. A few other orders at the dealership now have anticipated build months of January and February that were previously not looking likely until nearly April-June. These guys ordered back in June/July, so the wait times are still at least 6-8months for MOST GTS orders. You could probably get a GT in 4-6months, but personally I would never tell a customer a GTS could be yours in 4 months. |
I wish I was so lucky.. Ordered in August, was told March 2014 for ETA of delivery...*ouch*

I ordered mid July too, and will be here next week ;-)

Those extended delivery time frames you have been given are worst case scenarios. I would put money down that you will receive your cars a fair bit earlier than that.
I ordered on the 25th of June and mine is on the production line right now. The 18month lead time was Toyota Australia going into damage control mode when the order bank built up so quickly, to avoid over-promising and under-delivering. |

Thanks for the heads up guys. Like I said waiting 6 months is okay, but so I have a clear indication is it best I talk to the dealer in the new year to get a better indication on what's happening? Or should I be calling every couple of weeks for an update?

should I be provided something? Or is that only once the VIN is created that I can check online? |
4 months is probably right, an Auto GTS isn't the most popular spec

Your dealer probably won't get any new information about your car until at least this date every month. |

Have a read through this thread, it will answer any questions you have on tracking details. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=5458&page=73 |
Ive asked my dealer for the online tracking information. Im hoping to hear back from them today.

https://webapps.toyota.com.au/apps/cwt/ By the way, if you ever need to contact Toyota Australia in reference to your 86 order you will need these details on hand in order for them to identify you as the purchaser. Additionally, 4 month wait seems unlikely unless the dealer had a cancellation or couldn't find anyone in their existing queue who wanted that car as the Toyota website itself states: Waiting period for 86 GTS Please note that the waiting period may exceed 8 months depending on the time of order and choice of transmission and colour. Contact your Toyota dealer for further information Though that may not have been the case when you placed your order. |

Tracking hasn't moved at all, but my guess is they know as much as I do. |

I guess there's no point calling. I'm only 3 months into my wait. Patience lol |
Hey guys,
My Pre Delivery lady has been fantastic so far, but the poor girl isnt getting any love from the dealer I bought the car off. Therefore I am still yet to get any sort of tracking number.... I have seen in the other thread that people who have placed orders in July/August are getting their cars in January/February. So the March Delivery for a Late November order seems highly unlikely at this stage. What are peoples thoughts? |

Once you know it's going into production, it's a little easier to track. Until then though, we're all in the dark. Any advice someone gives is pure speculation. edit: That being said...given less demand for AT, and the extra allocation (that may or may not have happened). I'd probably be looking at March production, April Delivery if you're lucky. |
My dealer emailed me the logon details yesterday so I can track it, which was great!
He has sent another email today informing me that he is expecting my GTS Auto to arrive around May. Which means its a 6-7 month wait. Which I guess is spot on what everyone else has been experiencing..... so much for the March arrival... |
Purchased my car mid July (GTS Auto), I was told it would come at the latest mid next year (July). Got a phone call in October saying the car was now coming in January. Called up a month later (November) to be told that was not true and that I'll still be waiting till July, worse yet they cannot confirm when the car is coming and July 13 is an approximation.
Is there anything I should be doing? |
