Car number 11,XXX now lives with me.

Well, I was finally able to trade out my car and pick up my New FRS.

My frist FRS was number 5,5XX and this one is 11,XXX so a bit strange that it is double what the previous was.

I put a fair amount of miles on the first FRS since purchasing it July 24, 2012.

Anyway here are pics of the new arrival.

What!?!

The new one has the TRD exhaust!

Were you the one that is switching from auto to manual? Is that why you're getting another FR-S?

Ben_G 12-07-2012 04:25 PM

You were the one with the messed up trunk sheet metal, right?

No I had a defect and had a new car built. I think mine is probably the first one to show up with TRD exhaust on day of signing. I don't think it was available to order for any car prior, but I may be wrong.

Yes sir

Ben_G 12-07-2012 04:39 PM

Nice ride.... was the TRD exhaust a 'gift' from toyota? Or a paid upgrade?

No I think I pretty much paid retail on that.

Oh well, I think it fills out the cutouts in the rear bumper damn near perfectly.

How does it sound?

ichitaka05 12-07-2012 04:42 PM

Nice! We both live in UT, so I need to hit you up! Have some member meet here

Where in Utah are you? Are you on UtahToyotas.com? Yeah we need to strengthen the Utah Toyota Scene.

Thanks, yeah I was going to get a different exhaust since this one was so bloody expensive, but since it looked and sounded good, I just went for it. I like trd parts, especially when compared to the SPT stuff.

I am uploading a video of the exhaust to Youtube right now and will update the first post with it.

It is difficult having driven my car for 9600 miles and then having to go back to the break in period!

Oh yeah I guess all I have to do is look at your sig pic huh?

I am in South Jordan. I have had 2 STI's, a WRX Bugeye wagon, and most recently an 02 WRX with 04 STI swap and lots of upgrades. I only went toyota on this car because I am an AE86 nut. That and I prefer the bumper, but it was hard to choose between Subaru and Toyota for me.

brianlo622 12-07-2012 04:51 PM

Nice.. props to Toyota/Scion.

Do you know what is Toyota/Scion or that particular dealership gonna do with the old car with the defect? Sell it at a discount?

Mr.Bobbino 12-07-2012 04:55 PM

So how do you know what # car yours is? Where can I look to see when mine was made?

Beyer Subaru 12-07-2012 05:01 PM

Congrats brother!!

switchlanez 12-07-2012 05:06 PM

Good to see it all finally come to closure. And to think you were contemplating repairing it and potentially having to pay a deposit or accepting the defect and leaving it alone. Glad I had a part in encouraging you to vocalize about it til eventually auto journalists blasted it all over the internet. ;)

Got3n 12-07-2012 05:09 PM

Grats, I got mine with the trd exhaust and love it, I'm sure you will too.

FRSjeff 12-07-2012 06:22 PM

Did you get a new car replacement for no extra money (except for the trd exhaust)?

How did that work? In other words, how well did Toyota take car of you? In any case, congrats, new one looks great!

Spartan65 12-07-2012 06:31 PM

Congratulations Tanuki, it is nice to see you get some closure, and in the same instance start a new adventure with you new car.

I am not sure. Some say they will pull it, cut it, and it becomes a donation to science really. A good car to find out how to improve overall quality. Most likely the part will be fixed, the car will be resold at auction. They put a sheet of paper on it saying it would be sent to auction, but I am sure they do that to any car they buy back.

Right, I had to pay for the new parts and installation. It is a long story, but there is a thread about it in the recalls/defect section on the forum. I can probably link you to it in a minute.

Thank you. They are still going to reimburse me for the clear bra, so I need to get that done so I can finish everything up.

Here is a video with a sound clip of the TRD Exhaust up to 4,000 rpms (all I can offer right now).

JLMtm 12-07-2012 07:09 PM

Anyone know how many Frs's are going to be made total number for the year?

Of course. :D

I picked it up October 20th. It was just chillin in SLC at Mark Miller.

It was the exact one I ordered, but has the fuel door sticker. Meh.

Already got it tinted, and clear bra. Thinking of doing suspension first, then FI...

Talk to me before you buy any parts. Also lets all get together soon.
