anyone here ever drive a z06?
i drove my dad's last week and the sound was really simiar! at low RPM's at least. the engine in ours really sounds bigger than a 2.0 4cylinder, must be that boxer rumble.

I traded a c5 z06 in on my frs, and could care less. Mine was modded also, gm build quality is crap

Read through last months Consumer Reports for fun... Corvette quality has gone down quite a bit on the newer models.
At least you'll know your FR-S will be on the road in 10 years. |
I still loved mine and plan on getting another one with the money from this one. My corvette was never in the shop my FR-S has been 5 times... I am a little worried about this thing once it goes past the warranty date but it was cheap so if it dies off to the junk yard it will go.

My brother used to have a C5 Z06.
Torque is nice. |
Vette guy here--for many years. I've had multiple C5 & C6 Z06s (and my ZR-1 for 17+ years). They've been bulletproof for me & I drive the pi$$ out of them.

Yes. If you want supercar speed for luxury car money, then the C6 Z06 is the best possible buy. Wicked fast and comfortable enough to take a road trip in.
|
yeah, it was the C6 that i drove, unmodded.
|
I'm proud to admit that I'm very intimidated to drive a car such as the Z06.
I have a very heavy right foot... I've gotten better with building up my driving skill on the track, but I think my personality is better suited with a lightweight / low-power, momentum car. :scared0016: |
I love Corvettes. However I felt like the FR-S was a better platform to start with in autocross, so I bought that instead. Once my skill level has gone up, perhaps a Z06 will come live with us :)

I've driven a few Z06's and have had a hard time handing the keys back after some rip snortin' blasts through some SD county twisties. The cars are truly awesome, set up with the right rubber, a few suspension tweaks, and an adjustment to your mind (to understand the car is quite literally trying to kill you every time you bury the pedal) the car is sublime. I personally would not buy one, but it's more of an ethical thing than because of the car itself...after the bailout I can't find it in my heart to want to buy from a company that was unable to run itself without screwing over the entire country...
That said, i will never pass on the opportunity to drive them because they are hilarious to drive, sound amazing, and have a history that is rivaled by few cars. |

That makes sense... I'm still advancing myself via the track life. I like the FR-S so much that I don't see myself getting out of this car for a while, especially once I do a touch of modifying. When I first started tracking 3 years ago, I had a modified 480 hp e90 M3. I really struggled with that car at the track because of the heavy foot and also a lack patience to slow down and learn. I've worked my way up with a few low-power cars since then, and I feel that I've improved as a driver greatly... I'd love to see how I can manage a high-power car once again, some time in the future. |
They are a blast to drive on a road course, but never have I wanted to park one in my garage...nice racecar tho, the new ones are pretty much ready to take to the motorsports park off the showrooms...

z06 is hands down one of my favorite cars to drive. We have a couple of them in the family, and the wife and I plan on buying one in a couple years.
We both have a long dedication to GM vehicles, and have been very lucky with them. I would not hesitate to purchase a z06 right now if it was a financially sound decision |

Someone is new to OBD2 it seems... |
That was my dumb ass friend who has access to my computer! I bought the car from 1bad when they where closing it was last years model and came with the suspension it was cheaper than he knows but did have 906 to the fly wheel I think it was a different block they built it and went under 3 months later the cord was given to me and had to be used for the car so I can't put the tune on any other cars and it was just a my long time friend messing with their program that makes older Ferrari pass emissions it just smoothed out the flat spots in the torque and made it pull a little harder threw the gears I bought the Corvette as an investment because I got it so cheap. It was a good investment took 6 months to sell but I almost doubled my money. I personally take my car to race shops for most of my work so I put that I have heard to do an exhaust before changing your intake but put that was just what I have been told and not sure how true it is. I fix jets not cars I let car mechanics work on my cars.

Can't say I think they sound the same. I haven't had the privilege of driving a FRS or BRZ yet, but I have started them and revved them a little bit.
Nothing at all like the C5 Z06 I've driven. |
I owned a 06 z06 and this car sounds nothing like a z06, not even close.
