Last 1st 86 gift package

Just received a letter from Scion saying that, as being in the 1st 86 program, I will be receiving a last gift package. Can't wait- maybe it will be my new non- chirping fuel pump.

FRiSson 12-01-2012 04:42 PM

Probably a 120K free service plan, or....

a key fob.

ichitaka05 12-01-2012 05:12 PM

I think, I know what it is... cuz I haven't seen any first 86er posting the gift

Jayde 12-01-2012 05:13 PM

Dadhawk 12-01-2012 05:31 PM

Since the gifts have been one extreme or the other (great or huh?) I've got my fingers crossed for one last great gift. An F-RS leather jacket would be nice but I hope the verify sizes first!

I hate to see it end, I was hoping for a reunion meet next May. I'd have led the convoy from East to West for that.

Exhaust 12-02-2012 12:45 AM

Havent they given you guys enough free stuff?

DaJo 12-02-2012 12:57 AM

Subscribed; Very curious to see what this "last gift" can be. :)

dabocx 12-02-2012 01:00 AM

TRD supercharger

or a FRS shirt :P

luxmn 12-02-2012 01:14 AM

Shagaliscious 12-02-2012 09:08 AM

Hmm, just thinking....what about the First 86ers that have sold their FR-S already? Do they still get this free gift? I know of 1 member on here that was a First 86er and has already sold his FR-S.

ohhhh! my godddd! sold the frs? "heaven forbid!" why?

Cade01 12-02-2012 01:02 PM

I had a First 86 slot and couldn't afford it when it was available :( Damn it, I want free stuff.

Rampage 12-02-2012 01:22 PM

There were several of the first 86 cars that went unclaimed by the guys who ordered them. I wonder if they were then sold as 1st 86 cars and if the new owners get the gifts. One of the cars sat at a dealer near me for over two months before someone bought it. The dealership spent the 86 into party money on a party for the employees and their families.

Mr.Eightsix 12-02-2012 03:28 PM

Hello fellow 1st86ers,

I have a question, I'm moving in a week, and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions to who would I contact in order to give the address change to Scion?

Thanks

Cade01 12-02-2012 03:56 PM

So what have the 1st 86ers got so far?

russv 12-02-2012 04:48 PM

Maybe it will be like an automotive version of the Purple Heart for those of us 1st 86'ers that have been unknowing beta testers for the chirping fuel pump.

If you contact the standard Scion "Customer Experience" number, they'll be able to help I suspect. There's only about 20 people in the whole division so they probably sit next to the right person.

This is my guess as well. I'll have to do the same also!

Braces 12-03-2012 02:54 PM

Maybe we'll get some free plastic plugs for the rear wheel arches.

mr2lor 12-03-2012 06:39 PM

Or it could be an armrest

mattles 12-03-2012 07:00 PM

Im banking on a special badge/serialized plaque/etc to finalize and commemorate the 1st 86 program. That's all I ever wanted in the first place, though the other goodies (especially the RC car) are very cool and look good in my "FRS Display Case"

chuy21 12-03-2012 07:13 PM

Silverdub 12-03-2012 08:05 PM

Nope I have one that was supposed to be a first 86 (from what I was told) the person who bought it never showed up after 6 weeks of holding it they sold it to me. I believe that person who ordered it is getting the free stuff for being part of the first 86 even though they never bought the car.

I was told it was a first 86 that the person who put the deposit down for never came back to get it. I was also told I was one of the first people in Arizona to get one when I pulled out of the dealership at the very first light I was sitting next to a BRZ and I seem them daily now.

Cali_FRS 12-04-2012 01:31 AM

started with a t shirt i think...keychain...then we got to go to long beach formula drift (incl travel, food and hotel) got backpacks and little figure and a poster sunscreen, chapstick, scion pens (i swear for a while people thought i worked for them i had so many), R/C scion FRS, scion hat, beanie, shirts, socks(wtf right?) numbered carbon fiber license plate frame, numbered commemorative FRS Pen set in nice box, car cover, frs poster(its like a print with an electronic signature of Tada, uhhh i guess the most important thing is we got to drive the car way back in april and got delivery of our own cars ~1 month before anyone else and i think we all paid MSRP without markup

Some people got even more swag (beatsonic antenna, backpacks, wheels, 5axis body kits, jackets) if their dealers were cool and others got a "delivery party". Some douchebag dealers just pocketed the money they got from scion though haha and those ppl only got the scion gifts (myself included)

but yeah, needless to say they did plenty to make the adventure just a wee bit more fun :thanks: scion!!

One of the things we all wanted were some kind of commemorative identifier for the car as being one of the "1st 86" hopefully thats what's on its way!

kmbkk 12-04-2012 02:50 AM

Yeah, my dealer didn't give me anything, just what Scion sent.

You get NOTHING!

It's only for the first 86 vehicles that were pre-sold during a special online event earlier this year.

FRiSson 12-04-2012 10:30 AM

If Scion were smart they would be sending all FR-S owners (Subaru Too) a key fob and a license plate surround or sticker saying something like -
"first year owner", "86 Pioneer", "86 Debut owner", or something of that kind.

A thanks from them to all the owners willing to take the risk of buying a brand new car (with some acting as beta testers).

Why do they owe us?

For one thing, we took a risk on a car that could have been a disaster (considering that the car was made by a committee of two companies),
Secondly, we are responsible for helping to rehabilitate Toyota's fading/failing Scion Division. It isn't the car that remakes the division, it is the market. And we are the market.

It is our enthusiasm and excitement for the car that makes it a success. Just like Honda was built from the ground up, by a fanbase, so could Scion, and it would be us doing it. If you think that Scion's meager advertising budget, or tiny showroom presence can do it.... think again.

Third, Toyota/Scion is gaining millions of dollars worth of collective experience, testing, tuning and marketing insights from us.... for free! Via this and other forums.

Do they owe us their thanks?

Yes, absolutely.

Same here. In fact, they almost sold my car before I could pick it up because they "thought" mine was coming two weeks later.

It will be interesting to see what we get this time. I had pretty much figured it was over by now.

Hmmm, maybe it will just be the 1099 form for the trip....
