Rota Slipstreams, 15x7 35mm fit...barely.

These are a spare pair of wheels that I have for my 2 Neons.

As listed in the title, they are 15x7 with 35mm offset.

Obviously, no tires.

The wheel is extremely close to the caliper.
It'll be really close if the wheels had balancing weights on them.

There is slightly more clearance in the rear.
Would definitely work well for slicks or similar tires.

I will add pictures of the rear fitment on Thursday when I get done heat cycling the race tires and swap the street tires back on.

15's??

This should be interesting, can't wait!

dave99rt 11-28-2012 01:25 AM

makes me want to test fit these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROTA-WHEEL-S...6a9ae4&vxp=mtr

prob need more offset though...
Rota listed them with 40mm offset on their site.
perfect for a 225/45/15

camelflage 11-28-2012 10:23 AM

honest question: will caliper heat effect the wheel in general or the tire/bead area because its so close?

gmookher 11-28-2012 10:30 AM

honestly

no

BioRage 11-28-2012 10:50 AM

15's... seem.. to small..

tuckdaddy 11-28-2012 11:04 AM

Way too small...

DarkSunrise 11-28-2012 11:19 AM

I've always wondered whether 15" wheels would fit. Looking at those pictures, I'd have to say the answer would be no, at least for me. I wouldn't be comfortable with that little clearance.

dave99rt 11-28-2012 11:25 AM

i agree, especially for daily driving.
with 225/45/15's, they'd lower the car around 3/4" and shorten the gearing by around 7%.

for autocrossing it could work depending on course design.

Dave-ROR 11-28-2012 11:35 AM

Whether they are too small or not depends on what you are using them for. I'm guessing he wants to use them for autocrossing for track events where they could work fine, although depending on clearance those calipers might hit when they heat up and expand on track..

dave99rt 11-28-2012 12:30 PM

i don't really want to use them on the BRZ.

I just had the car in the air and wondered if they would clear.

for the rear, they'd work well for drag slicks.
the car wasn't purchased for drag racing.

already have a spare set of wheels for DD'ing, and the stock wheels for stock class SCCA events.

Can you please post a pic of clearance to the steering joint?
Thanks.

Did you ever get these mounted? If so, I would like to add them to the Wheel Directory. Post your photos!

another 15" wheel option coming soon...

Sorry if this sounds like a really Dumb question but why would anyone want to run 15" wheels on a car that has 17" wheels on it from the factory in the US ?? I might understand 16" if its snow tires you are running but why bother with 15" even if they were free?:bonk:

I'll try my best, still a wheel n00b.
Smaller wheels;
1. Lighter
2. More options per $
3. Noted above, shorten gearing
4. Free wheel, why not?

Edit: Bonus why lighter + shorten gears, think of this way, do 17" spin faster or 15" if on the same wheel spoke? The 15 would be, also less material = less weight...in theory (most of the time)

DarrenDriven 02-28-2013 08:55 PM

Still watching for mounted photos.

There would be more sidewall flexing on smaller rims due to thicker sidewalls.

mounting isn't going to happen guys.

car was totaled in a not-at-fault head-on collision with an x5.

damn that sucks. hope everyone walked away ok. was that guy on the wrong side of the parkway or something? I'm actually surprised how well these cars take impacts. So small and so light yet they seem to keep the people inside safe.

davidsolarbell 03-04-2013 08:40 PM

I have been trying to get a group buy together for 17" Rota Slips. I think they would look rad on our cars! I just need 2 more people

Bmore_Raven86 03-04-2013 09:42 PM

i like to buy the tail lights if its not broken.

RallySport Direct 03-04-2013 09:56 PM

Bummer to hear about the crash, always sad to see. :(

I was hoping for a rally look to it.
