SE MI meet up Dec 15-16

Hey anyone that can make this date post below! I am thinking same kind of area around birmingham or royal oak since is seems to be pretty easy to get too. Also probably same time? around 12 or 1? Let me know how many can show up and we will work out specifics!

Free Leonard 11-28-2012 10:52 PM

Got a call from the dealer today. My frs will show up sometime tomorrow. I'm down for a meet/cruise.

kask2_6.0 11-29-2012 07:55 AM

will probably work for me

mgobrz 11-30-2012 12:02 AM

This should work for me.

DKPJester 11-30-2012 11:14 AM

Sounds good

It looks like I'll be in town so unless there is some unforeseen scheduling conflict I would be down.

Cameronghanson 12-01-2012 12:38 PM

Awesome. Lets say 16th at 1pm. Anyone got any idea of a good place to meet in that area? The caribou parking lot was a bit crowded. It would be cool to find a place were we could park together for pictures and stuff

MI FR-S 12-03-2012 01:25 PM

Assuming nothing family/holiday related crops up, I should be able to make it.

Royal Oak parking is lousy, particularly downtown.
Birmingham might be better.

Mac1235 12-04-2012 12:49 AM

I can make it, driving all the way from Midland. Got family down there. Let me know exact date/time/location and I should be able to make it. I am also forming a Mid-Michigan owners group, so anyone living in Mid-Michigan send me a message and I will direct you to our Facebook page.

Cameronghanson 12-04-2012 01:07 PM

Okay so if this works for everyone here is what i am thinking

Starbucks at the Village of Rochester Hills
North Adams Road #E-260
Rochester Hills, MI 48309
1:00pm

Parking is usually pretty open and its close to m59 and i75

Does this work for everyone?

Mac1235 12-04-2012 01:41 PM

This sounds good to me. There aren't many twins around here so will be good to see some. See you there!

MI FR-S 12-04-2012 01:53 PM

Should work for me.

Mac1235 12-05-2012 12:11 PM

You have the time, but the day is listed as 15-16, is this a two day meet up or are we picking a certain day?

Mac1235 12-07-2012 09:56 PM

I cannot believe I didn't see the day :( Too much viewing on my phone.

Kauf 12-13-2012 08:20 PM

I may come down.

Do it!

Just a reminder that we are still meeting this sunday at the address above!

There is like a 40% chance of rain that day, but considering most of us are driving these cars as daily drivers, it shouldn't deter us! See you all there!

Cameronghanson 12-16-2012 01:48 PM

Change of plans. Starbucks is too crowded. Meet at the back of the max and ermas parking lot (by Adams rd). I'm here so call if you need help finding it 2488729772

Cameronghanson 12-16-2012 01:54 PM

Facing Adams rd *

Mac1235 12-16-2012 10:11 PM

Was a great meet up! Great to see all the cars and get to meet some of the fellow owners. I saw someone taking pictures, hopefully they will PM or post them for us! Anyone who was there, please send me a friend request so I can keep in touch and ask questions about some of the mods you have done. They all looked good!

DKPJester 12-17-2012 08:41 AM

I was the one snapping pictures, but I only took about 6 and of them 0 are worth the effort of re-sizing/posting. Next time we get together I'll try to get some proper shots. It was really great meeting all of you and I'm happy to see the car attracting such a nice group of people. Not a person there I wouldn't have gladly had a few beers with regardless of their choice of transportation. Also, thanks Cameronghanson for taking initiative to set that up.

I agree 100%. Can everyone who had a white FRS/BRZ post on here saying your defining feature? lol. I am trying to match cars and real names with online profiles. The blue and red cars are easy, and I think I have everyone figured out but I want to make sure!

So who was the perrin shift knob, who was the blacked out wheels, and who was the toyota badges? I think I have it figured out but want to make sure so I can put some notes on the contacts linking the real life person with their profile.

Thanks!

kask2_6.0 12-17-2012 10:37 AM

Cameronghanson has the perrin knob (BRZ)

DKPJester had the toyota badges

I have the black wheels (BRZ)

Ok I had it. Be prepared for incoming private messages to all of you about the different mods you did!

We need to get the word out to the local dealerships to stop selling white FR-S/BRZ's. If any more show up it is going to be impossible to keep track!

Great to meet everyone, seems we are fortunate to have really, really nice guys and girls show up.

Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

Mac1235 12-17-2012 07:05 PM

The party I left the meet up for was on a dirt road (unknown to me) and my car looked like it went mudding through a field. Spent last few hours washing out 50lbs of dirt. :(

Also to all the manual drivers out there. Anyone else annoyed with the gearing of reverse? It feels like I have to ride the clutch, take a clunk, or go 20 mph backwards. I just want to ease out of my parking spots lol.

What trans fluid did you end up going with? Have you really noticed a big difference? I see people online saying it but I don't know.

I used redline...its easy to get online but only a few places around metro detroit sell it. The BMW and MINI transmission felt the EXACT same way, like you had to let the clutch out a little bit to get it in gear and reverse was rough too. Once i switched it over to redline (especially in the winter) it feels much more fluid and less restricted. Thats my impression anyway. I drive alot (ive had my car 3 months and have around 6k miles on it) and its made it easier for sure.

Can you throw a link for the stuff you bought? Is this one of the ones that is compatible with yellow metals? How difficult is it to swap transmission fluid with minimal equipment, I only have ramps to raise it.

Sorry for all the questions! :D

Cool. Did you notice the OEM stuff looking nasty or anything? I really want to change mine, and I think after the holidays I might. How many quarts did it take for yours? I wonder if the OEM fluid is just that bad, that there is such an improvement by changing.

No OEM stuff wasnt bad, but like bmw im pretty sure they say life-time fluid but its never really life time lol. Its probably just a cost thing...like its too expensive to put the good stuff in. it took 2.2 L or 2.3 quarts if memory serves and 1.2 quarts for the diff.
