BRZ Rear Side Under Spoilers released by STI

The final pieces for the STI aero kit are available to complete the kit. I emailed japanparts.com asking them to add it to their catalog for purchase.

I'm tempted to go with these and the sides. For the FRS I think the JDP lip will all flow well

MSTiFK8R 11-27-2012 03:13 AM

just as needed - subtle and clean

definetely on my purchase list along with lip\skirts\gurney flap to finish the look off

Did you get any information that this rear spats (lip) can fit with the OEM rear diffuser accessory without any modification or I should wait for your result, HA?
Thanks

Japanparts is waiting for the answer from Subaru/STI. If they never reply, I'll let you know my own result. I ordered regardless because I prefer these over the rear diffuser.

86BRZ 11-27-2012 10:29 AM

Nice! Finally! Japanparts may also have a whole set discount price like others?

Hope to get these under my Christmas tree!

Beyer Subaru 11-27-2012 11:10 AM

I doubt the total cost of materials is $400..
I really need to get out of the industry i am in and into automotive parts..

why work on 15% mark up when i can work on 500%!

86BRZ 11-27-2012 08:14 PM

Accessories....they always have the best profit margin!
Brand name accessories like..Louis Vuitton.
The amount of plastic certainly not worth that much but they called "STI".
I just wish they can be a little price friendly to their fans.

And they also replied, there will be no whole set 6 pcs discount. I.e. adding each to shopping cart.

Dear Sir,
*
*** Thanks for your e-mail but we are really sorry that as you can see from the site, it's during the sale time so shown price is the best price that we can do even you buy a whole body kit.

gmookher 11-28-2012 10:29 AM

car doesnt need any extra weight

86BRZ 11-28-2012 12:21 PM

How heavy are they? Adding 10 - 15 pounds for all 6 pcs? A valid point here for adding weight. I guess all come down to cosmetic most.

cslntuee 11-28-2012 12:25 PM

You might only save some shipping fee between buying all together and individually.

Maybe the manufacturers have this markup, but I can assure you the retailers def do not have margins anywhere close to that.

People buy it considering how it looks. The investment needs to look good. The developers say this car is a blank canvas (it's lacking some things). To me, it looks lacking in stock form and needs aero enhancements to look complete. Doing it tastefully at the expense of a little weight is worth it. Especially when done with parts of OEM quality and function.

Arguably, this car doesn't need any extra power. :D

Yeah i would believe that, i work in wholesale, one of our main products the trade price is $90, we pay $40 at our bulk rate (ordering 2000+ at a time) and generally sell them at $46
We have bought them for one project at $26.. and know the maker can go even lower..
We make 15%, they get 50%+ :(

What does it take to achieve precise fitment and quality equal to or greater than that of any other aftermarket company (sometimes even reliability at the expense of performance)? Resources. I'm no business major but the cost of development and tooling to manufacture an item should be factored into that 50%+. Considering the market will be flooded with competition, STI can't project high volume sales and initial investment needs to be recouped somehow. STI and TRD err towards quality over quantity. Their prices should somewhat reflect all of that.

xxscaxx 11-28-2012 04:24 PM

Not sure why everyone is complaining about the prices...has anyone else taken a look at any of the other kits for either the BRZ and FRS?

If its too expensive don't buy it, its pretty simple lol.

I can afford it, I just think some of these products need to be put into perspective.

Two small parts, which i doub't would have taken that long to design in CAD, then put though a 3D printer and test fitted..

Millions of dollars there in R&D.. :bonk:

The company i work for design and make products, which are way more intricate and need a lot more R&D, using more expensive base materials, yet are a quarter of the price...

86BRZ 11-28-2012 05:48 PM

Sometime more expensive will make it more exclusive, so they are not on every other BRZ.

Looks great Lanez!! I received and installed mine today as well. So we now know without a doubt that they will work with the Rear Diffuser

The bottom line of the spats looks higher than the diffuser?

Yep. If they had made them level I'm sure that there would have been a fitment issue. It's not as fluid a transition as I would like but it looks "finished" now.

The install like all the other pieces was very straight forward. I didn't even put it on the lift. Just jacked from the diff, took my time and it was less than an hour.

Love your car man. I just hunkered down and purchased full seibon cf kit, front lip, sides, and rear. The seibon rears look just like your sti ones. Like the shape and how they have a fin.

Beyer Subaru 12-07-2012 08:56 PM

Schveet! Seibon kit is money.

zuldajin 12-07-2012 08:57 PM

So, only HT Auto's rear spats bottom line can align the OEM rear diffuser?
