Interesting video and one talented craftsman.

Syrianto 11-19-2011 12:12 AM

Wow, that's impressive! So slick. At first I thought you meant a V12 put into like a Mini Cooper.

How many horsepower? :D

I love stuff like this. There's another guy that built a fully functional miniature scale Ferrari, engine runs and the gears all work etc.

He starts the car up at 2:15 mark, not a bad way to spend 20,000 hours...

NorCalRider 11-21-2011 04:18 AM

All of those are mind boggeling, truly amazing craftsmanship.

nrclptcnsmniak 11-21-2011 06:24 AM

wow amazing! quick question kind of off topic. But what determines the rate in which the pistons move in the cylinder and the pattern in which they combust in? I hope you understand my question. This is all too amazing.

ZetaVI 11-21-2011 07:15 AM

That was def worth watching!

Ryephile 11-21-2011 10:03 AM

Very cool. That's a lot of man-hours of labor!

It's based on the design of the crankshaft. Ideally the crankpins are offset to where power is transmitted to the crank evenly throughout an entire 360 degree revolution.

I'm no expert on the matter, maybe someone can go into more detail...

He probably is German..

Anything that small I'd be losing all of the pieces for it before I could get the engine together lol

I've know about this other guy for a while: http://www.ronsmodelengines.com/

Keep thinking one of these days I would like to give the Offy a go...
