a simple pipe is a simple pipe but idk why they would make it 2.75 in. it wont mate good with the stock pipes being to large of a difference.

Asphaltfrs1 11-27-2012 08:19 AM

Is j2 engineering the same as j2 motorsports?
I believe j2 motorsports is a vendor on here

We have no affiliation with J2 Engineering. We are though in the process of fabricating a splitter and muffler delete.

If J2motorsports ever has something new to offer, you will see it first here.

Type One Racing's R&D data showed no gains until they bumped the 2.5" to 2.75". See thread here. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...78&postcount=1

Greddy's Evo 3 and MXP's systems also use 2.75" piping so this down pipe would mate well with all three of these systems.

fender9530 11-29-2012 05:54 PM

Seriously tempting for the frontpipe. I'm sure the welds are garbage, but that's easily remedied. Only $110. I'm not one to cheap out but wow.

htdonato 11-29-2012 06:05 PM

someone buy this exhaust so I can hear it haha.. doesn't look to bad of a setup says stainless so it cant be to bad for a cheap ebay exhaust even for $459 header back aint bad just to try it out..maybe ill be the pioneer and test it for myself..

fender9530 11-29-2012 06:33 PM

I may bite on the front pipe. Ill prob wait a month or so though.

htdonato 11-29-2012 06:36 PM

does the front pipe look different to you guys ? doesn't look like the bend are the same as the others and the flanges aren't welded in the same directions. wonder if it will work with the stock exhaust etc...

*KID* 11-29-2012 06:56 PM

Looks really tempting

only problem is with a stock setup that power is made up top at 6500 or 7k. a 2.5" system will create a broad mid range, more useable imo. i liked the graphs on dsport from the 60-63mm systems even if they didnt peak as high

Ya, you're right. The flange that mates to the mid pipe won't re-use the OEM donut gasket. You can see that it's just a standard flange and not a floating pass through flange like the other front pipes. Not sure how this will affect fitment. Anyone know what affect this would have?

Somebody guinea pig this front pipe and let us know if it fits. a pipe is a pipe so performance gains should be typical for a test pipe.

P.S. I messaged one of the ebay vendors for a company website for J2 and they gave me this site. j2race.com

Looks like they started out in aluminum rads. It's the only product on their website. Their FB, Youtube, and Twitter links are bare. But the youtube channel says the company is based in Canada. Twitter account is under the name Jason Brown.

Here's a sample of their other product lines.

Did anyone find anything else out about this system yet?:iono:

dj petey 12-14-2012 10:24 AM

People are buying their products on ebay... hopefully one of those buyers is a forum member and can give us a review of the quality and maybe some dyno #'s. Wishful thinking at best...

jumbaco 12-14-2012 06:15 PM

interesting quad tip. The pictures they have just screams "ebay" though. LOL. In for reviews

Redline360 01-03-2013 12:22 AM

If you guys are interested, we have these exhausts in stock:

J2 Exhaust Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ [w/ Downpipe] (2013) Quad Tips J2-CBE-003
J2 Exhaust Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ [w/ Downpipe] (2013) J2-CBE-002

If you guys have this exhaust and have a video of it, please let us know and we can put it on our site.

Mister_Sir 01-03-2013 12:29 AM

I heard the quad tip version on my friend's car today. I was impressed with the sound. Very deep and aggressive. It really brings out the boxer sound. I think it sounds better than my $600 Takeda system.

Do you think you could arrange to get some photos of fitment to your mates car and possible a video clip?

soros151 01-03-2013 05:38 PM

Still watching!

Mister_Sir 01-04-2013 12:51 AM

He left for ft myers today... so I wont see him till he gets back in 4 days. :/

jwjknorr 01-05-2013 07:20 PM

I love the quad tip look, but wont spend money without hearing it and seeing reviews maybe numbers. Anyone heard this yet?

jwjknorr 01-18-2013 05:53 PM

any updates, about to just save more for something with a dyno and sound clips, dont need a huge gain but needs to sound good and not have a loss in the power band

No exhaust ever has LOST power (on this car, so far anyway)
However I can say if you plan on turbocharging your vehicle this would be a good exhaust as its 2.75 not 2.5 so it'll flow a little better.

Once I'm turbocharged I'll probably have a custom 2.75 or 3in overpipe made and buy this exhaust and sell my current setup (Borla UEL, Agency Power over/test pipe, Q300 cat-back)

Glad to see an official vendor repping this brand. Can you tell us more about the company and the products? Any weight's on these? A little data will go a long way at peaking interest on this forum.

Innova 01-18-2013 07:01 PM

The front pipe doesn't have the mounting hook so it is not supported very well. Just a fyi.

turbo_jimbo 01-18-2013 10:10 PM

I have this exhaust. Front pipe back. Sounds deep, and not much droning. It does have the hanger on the front pipe. The right side muffler doesnt sit right without bending the hangers for it.

OmarGC 01-18-2013 11:17 PM

Here's an install and 2nd video is a sound clip

Can you post a picture of how it looks from the back and at an angle? Also, is the droning very noticeable? At rpm do you notice droning?

turbo_jimbo 01-18-2013 11:37 PM

My phone went missing last night, but I'll see what I can do. Also, it came with an assortment of hardware and gaskets that force you to go to the parts store. Just count your gaskets before you begin or you'll be borrowing a car.

I just purchased the catback and will provide some feedback in a few weeks. I didn't want to jump on the front pipe too quick since it is uncatted. This will give me the opportunity to see how loud it is with the stock front pipe. Exactly what did you have to get at the autoparts store? Just a gasket?

turbo_jimbo 01-23-2013 06:15 PM

Yeah, 2 of them. I didnt put the front pipe on at first an needed new bolts to hold the front pipe to back pipe together. Just put the front pipe on now it is NO louder without it.

You have done what i will likely be doing. I am quite interested in your thoughts regarding any difference the front pipe makes in both sound quality and performance. Have you noticed any performance improvement with only the catback? Any difference now that you have the front pipe installed? Sorry for the 20 questions...

turbo_jimbo 01-23-2013 06:55 PM

Just louder and less weight. Otherwise no different than stock. From the seat of my pants anyway. I doubt any exhaust would be much different.
