Where you located at?

IloveBaldEagles 11-23-2012 12:59 AM

Two questions.
How did you do it?. And what did you use?

Im located in baltimore. Yes you can do it yourself if you want. But i madethe post for people who didnt want to. -_-. I used flat black spray paint. We got sealant but there was so much from the factory in the headlight that we didnt use any. No problems even when i did it in the hurricane. A month later and no condensation problems At all!!

Chen 11-23-2012 09:05 AM

What does it look like at night? Does the lights just take over the whole headlight at night? If that makes sense...

Edit- makes me wish mine wasn't a dd...

i_4got 11-23-2012 09:14 AM

I believe doing this voids the warranty though? You'll probably want to put a disclaimer saying you're not responsible for any potential damages.

Bump free labor!

VADER 11-23-2012 01:22 PM

Hmm, no offense but I'll wait until 2 or 3 members post pics of work done and everything working properly.. Seems sketchy a person would waste time for free o.O haha

I don't mean to be an a$$-whole, but very curious, why are you so excited to use your free time to work for free?

(IF you are genuine, thanks a lot for being such a good person ;))

_F-R-S_ 11-23-2012 01:40 PM

Yes i can see how it seems sketchy. But i would want the help also. And alot of times people dont have the money. Please dont post that saying im sketchy though just want to help. Thanks alot and i would obviously give you my address to ship to me.

Sorry for the confusion. I didn't call you sketchy, I said it seems sketchy that a person would do this for free. Didn't call YOU sketchy in particular

Respect is t earned threw money.

Gixxersixxerman 11-23-2012 02:00 PM

I just finally did mine.. Had the stuff for over a month but was a bit nervous.. It's weird being a ASE tech and a electronics tech for a government contract, the things I'm nervous to do to this car.. I thought about driving to Washington to have a member on here do mine lol.. But I do have to bake them back apart to AD a small spacer in the retrofit.. I had to adjust the lights so much that my highs are far to far up.. I get a bad glare.. Anyways.. If I haven't done mine yet I would have been the guine pig for you.. I just wanted to say thanks, thanks for offering your time to help others out.. You can see its so unheard of now a days and every one wants something for ... Well something that when a genuine nice person offers something up.. It's thought of as being sketchy lol.. Again thanks..

_F-R-S_ 11-23-2012 02:04 PM

Thanks bro anytime or anyone i can help is more satisfying no homo to me then making money

Aznek 11-23-2012 02:12 PM

Were you able to get the side market lights off without breaking or bending the clips?

_F-R-S_ 11-23-2012 02:15 PM

Yes indeed very simple. It breaks because people think you need alot of force

Celica00 11-23-2012 04:03 PM

if someone does this and then he screws them, his reputation is tarnished so i dont think he's being sketchy. i personally love this idea and would do it in a heart beat, only issue i have is the length of time it'd take as it's my DD and cant very well drive w/o headlights! love what youre doing though and i'd pay you regardless of if you want money or not.

_F-R-S_ 11-23-2012 04:48 PM

Thanks bro

chate 11-23-2012 05:08 PM

we should all just pitch in and buy one set to use as a core, have OP do that set, then each person sequentially send in their lights with the previous person's light being the core LOL perpetual work for OP, but good for everyone else + less downtime for the DD folks!

_F-R-S_ 11-23-2012 05:14 PM

Lol i feel ya on the DD. thats the only downside is you car will be inactive for 2 or 3 days. Unless u like driving without headlights

No waranty is void in blacking out the headlights.. My car has already been serviced with coilovers. Strut tower engine brace and wheels tires. Hope that helps

chris's fr-s 11-23-2012 08:42 PM

Op how fast could you get them done

_F-R-S_ 11-23-2012 08:58 PM

If you sent them out thursdays and got them friday i could send them back out saturday could get them monday. I work for ups so its busy right now.

Even at the risk of my headlights cracking, I'd totally let you do this for me if only it didn't mean I'd have no car for a few days. =/

_F-R-S_ 11-23-2012 09:56 PM

Apprciate the comment cheers!

Burrcold 11-23-2012 10:13 PM

Seriously very nice of you dude. Not many people do things out of the goodness of their hearts anymore.

Celica00 11-23-2012 11:48 PM

hey when i have a few days where i can be w/o a car, i'd love the opportunity to get this done. i'd pay, of course. we could pm a deal

_F-R-S_ 11-24-2012 06:29 AM

The offer is always there! Just ht me up when your ready.

Reflex 11-24-2012 08:18 PM

How long does this process take? I would consider driving all the way down to Baltimore just to get this done for free and learn a few things about the car (never took off a bumper before).

_F-R-S_ 11-24-2012 08:44 PM

For the whole prcoess about 6 hours without rushing

i agree.. it took me about 6 hours, and i installed the retrofit and halos, but i had a perfect sun and my paint dried way faster then i thought it would.. it was still a little softer then what id have liked.. but i was just really careful around the bezel..

since F-R-S has done this already, the chance on cracking or breaking the headlights i would think is very rare.. im sure it needs to be said that he is not responsible of the off chance it does happen.. but this is pretty straight forward procedure.. retrofiting projectors in housings have been happening for many years.. i personally think this is a great service to the community that can take advantage of it

_F-R-S_ 11-24-2012 09:34 PM

Perfect time to do it with no humidity

Bluebatmobile 11-26-2012 10:31 PM

The RZ Precept 11-27-2012 05:31 PM

@F-R-S Hey dude I just want to comment on your frs, it looks amazing. I just recently bought a whiteout frs myself and I am considering on doing the black out lights but scared to f' it up. However I noticed you're not too far away and might take you up on the offer. I'm quite nervous about the whole thing but you seem legit. I'll even tip you as my way of thanking you for helping me out and the community. Much respect for the service you are providing.

_F-R-S_ 11-27-2012 06:14 PM

No problem bro thats the exact reason im doing this i was nervous as shit at first also. I wont half ass any job and do the work as best of my ability and as if it were my own..
